I agree and from my understanding the show does quite well on Peacock.  Although Peacock as a platform is another story.

I don't know if the wardrobe will ever improve because I think a lot of it is at the actor's discretion.  Characters like Stephanie, Jada, Chanel and Gabi often look very put together.  And Deidre still has a matching suit set in every color whether we like or not lol.  The men all dress very similar (besides Leo) and I am pretty sure JJ and Shawn were wearing the same leather jacket the other day lol.  But I digress.  My point is that you can very clearly see some actors dress how they like and not for their character on Days, but I suspect they are often wearing their own clothing tbh.

The sets feel like a much larger issue, but I think Days needs to tell stories that work around that.  Trying to recreate 90's stories and adventures doesn't work.  Pretending elaborate weddings are happening with 5 people doesn't work.  At this point Days needs to drop a few characters and focus on family and community drama that can be contained in the 5 sets they have.

This ordinarily would belong in the DAYS historical thread but in a way it's just come up here. Do you recall that Roman, Bo & John all had & wore these cordovan brown leather jackets? They all belonged IRL to Drake. I think that is adorable, but I have to wonder why in the heck did Drake happen to have 3 just alike lighter brown leather jackets?!!!

Even if the wardrobe never improves at least they could TRY to improve the sets. I also agree that they need to stop doing the whole adventure stuff and just focus on family drama and psychology like they did in the 70s; they need to go back to that type of story-telling because that's apparently they can all afford at this rate. Sometimes I ask myself why is this show on Peacock because if this show is going to look this horrid and written this horribly, it should've just stayed on NBC and it wouldn't have made a difference.

Honestly I really don't know why Theresa's being brought back, especially if it's for only one or two episodes. If all she is going to do is give her blessing on the adoption or whatever, then what's the point? Like she could've just left prison off-screen and we would've found out via a phone call Brady gets from Andrew and nobody would've given a crap. I mean, this return accomplishes absolutely nothing. Also, Theresa is so far removed from the canvas anyway and she's appeared so infrequently over the last 6-7 years that she's pretty much irrelevant as a character as a point.

Which is why I think if she gets killed off permanently that she might actually generate a lot more stories dead than she has ever had while alive. At this point, I'm fine with her trading places with Abigail where Abigail is resurrected from the dead and Theresa is six feet underground so that Days can focus all their attention on Andrew, the Shane/Kim child that people actually like and want on the show long term.

The reason I find myself far more emotionally tethered to Stephanie than Theresa is simple—Stephanie's family is on canvas. Theresa feels more like a Donovan in name than in substance. Her connection to the clan is tenuous at best. And let’s be honest—Kimberly, now there was a Brady to savor! Played to soapy perfection by PP, whose flair for the hysterical remains unrivaled. But alas, Kim seems destined to remain an entry in the annals of history, with no hope of a recast or, dare I say, the original recipe.

Now, about Shawn-D and JJ… it's almost comical how much they share: wardrobes, initials, and—dare I say—a largely interchangeable personality. I can't help but wish for a modern take on Roman and Bo's dynamic when they worked as cops. Imagine Shawn-D as the flawed mentor, offering JJ sage warnings about not letting his temper get the better of him. The thought of Shawn-D actually confessing anything to JJ, though? Please. The age gap alone makes that notion laughable. Instead, they should be portrayed as representatives of different generations, each with their own hard-won perspective. That would give their dynamic the depth it truly deserves.

J.J. has always been a bland character to me. Interchangeable with Tripp, Nathan, Max, Joey, Johnny and all the other handsome, mostly nice, bland white legacy guys the show casts.  Obviously some characters are from different eras, but all the same mold.

It's the same way I find Eric/Brady to be way too similar in personality.  Mostly the same parents, same love interests, addiction issues, and monumental screw ups while being mostly decent guys.

I feel like we have a bit more perspective on Shawn D because he did grow up on the show in real time and drove a lot of story back when Days was still decent.  I think BB has taken a lot of bite out of the role, but Shawn/Belle have been sidelined for years.

Outside of Casey Moss's first few stories-JJ's always been background to me.

I did the smallest investigation possible into the leather jackets of the men on DAYS for the past three months of episodes.  Rumors that DAYS casts men according to their ability to share clothes may be unfounded.

According to WornonTV, Shawn-D and

JJ are not sharing a jacket, they both wear All-Saints, valued at around $500 a pop.

On the other hand, although Doug3 wears an absurd amount of leather and suede jackets (like, seriously, he could sell his $1.500 jacket collection to try to get Julie's necklace back).

Yet, Doug3 is the only who shared a leather jacket with another cast member, namely Philip

But, Surprise of the Day for me (and those lamenting Day's costume budget), Steve's leather jacket comes in at a whopping $1900.00!

Steve's also worn a Rag&Bone jacket for$1,000 bones, and a John Varvatos leather shirt/jacket for $800.00

Would've been a lot better and made a lot more sense than Leo/Dimitri. I still can't believe how much Days made Dimitri out to be an absolute joke. He had so much potential and Days just wasted and ruined him.

True but compared to some of those other characters you've mentioned, J.J. is actually a lot more memorable and compelling and he's had some good stories. I actually think Eric is pretty bland and boring compared to Brady; at least Brady has a personality, even if it sucks. And right there I think is one of the major problems with Days - many of the younger legacy characters are either severely underdeveloped or some of them are taken way too far to the point where they basically become irredeemable psychos and many viewers pretty much turn against them. And I honestly don't know if that can be fixed, at least not so easily. If Days is to have a future then they need to decide which legacy characters should be developed and focused on and that means getting rid of some characters permanently by killing them off and making them dead-dead, not just Salem dead, even if that includes other legacy characters.

The word "endgame" isn't really a spoiler, just an interview about working together in the past, but ... there is some spoilerish stuff.  They ask the actors if their characters are an endgame couple, but that's because this was from a romance magazine article that tvinsider linked to.

They do ask the actors about the futures of their characters, so I reposted this on the spoiler thread.
Full details plus the 21-minute video interview on the spoiler thread here:

    • The bit with the scarf reminds me of the fabled stuffed animal scene with Rick and Phillip. (That wasn't debunked, was it?)
    • Ohh, interesting. I instantly gravitated towards her in that episode. Of course I'm already hooked and want to know why she was trying to poison that older lady, but then how did the older lady know to switch the mugs so Susan drank her own poison...  but I have too many timelines I'm watching right now haha.  Oh, Bolger is definitely hot. I didn't realize he was on GL haha. I knew him from OLTL and other primetime stuff.
    • This is a effin shame. Eff Trump and eff the bastards that enable him.
    • I 100% agree but I think this is due to how the show is structured. It's a one family show which means there are no people in her age range that could be used as friends or contemporaries of her. The show definitely needs a second main family. I am glad someone finally said this. Especially now that the cast is gelling in their roles, he stands out like a sore thumb. No energy, no chemistry with anybody. He is just there.  I thought that was odd as well! The previous scene would've worked better as a tag for the credits.
    • That's the one and only Carrie Nye (Mrs. Dick Cavett) as Susan Piper, a deadly realtor. I don't want to spoil a lot if you ever want to see those episodes. She returns as another character in 2003. I think Grant has aged well and he always did a good job at being ripped without going too far, but he was never entirely my cup of tea either. I did think John Bolger was hot.
    • Totally agree. KKL looks great! It makes the Widge groveling so bizarre. Brooke needs to leave FC and with $B's/Liam's funding launch a rival fashion house with Hope, Rick, Katie and a secret designer. The best scenario is that Rick has been absent because he's been with very much alive C2, who is revealed on the runway as the secret designer. It'll never happen because B&B is comfortable just focusing on FC and the Forresters Marones v. Logans. But it'd been so much more interesting if the Spencers/Logans united.

    • Haha that scarf thing did go on a bit too long, very odd. And what a young Rick!  I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I just never got the physical appeal of Grant Aleksander, but he's definitely a great actor. Who is the older lady around the 8:30 mark, and also ends the episode, alone and in pain? She seems like a really interesting character. I love the smoky voice and sultry, snaky vibe she seems to have.
    • I can't remember exactly but I think she lives in or is part of the cottage story with Carrie. Carrie poisons her in this episode.  I forgot Teresa was on the show. (I see that AI is insisting she wasn't - well they're wrong) Poor Maeve. I can how even she had her limits.
    • It pisses me off that the other Duprees are making this incident all about them as well. They are playing a family of victims, acting as if Ted cheated on all of them. They should be supportive, but not like this. I have a family that makes anything that happens to me personally all about them, and seeing the same thing on TV is rage-inducing.
