Hello husband/hello husband -cringe. The gays were not allowed a kiss? They didn't seem a good match first time around. Saddling them with teen kids?

Agree! Agree! Agree!

And I'm loving Daphnee Duplaix!

Is it just me?

Not just you. ;)

Or she is someone from Ted's past and he didn't recognize her at that time.

Heck, maybe she's Andre's mom, and no one knows.

I liked the storyline with Scotty dying and she finding out Eli was her Grandson, she was even nominated for it, but not the right topic to discuss that

Was that just 7 years ago? Time, ya know, flies.

Just a Julie classic, a little gem. And, it's 1991 which was a lousy year for DAYS.

First Lines, Day Two.
Laura: "Hi Nicole, I was just about to text you."
Ted: "You could bottle that beauty. the way you haven't changed since you were in your twenties. You'd have to take care of me."
Mona: "I've been working with the chef on the Links brunch. We've got three menu possibilities. If you could choose just one today."
Jan: "We know you're busy, so we won't stay long but I wanted to make sure you have a nice, healthy lunch."
Leslie: "Makes sense: food is love."
Eva: "You doubt it?"
Shanice: "Ashley Morgan?"
Smitty: "Look the spirit is definitely willing but right now it just isn't an option. I'm gonna need some time to figure out a way. But I'm not shutting the door. Not even close. And thank you for checking. Oh! I gotta go. Hey husband!"

she does seem settled into the role, but she also didn't give me anything in the premier episode, whereas today I felt more from her.

Oh, she gave me plenty from the jump. Daphnee has always had a core of real integrity and intelligence as well as grit, which served her very well with a very resolute character on OLTL who had previously been diminished and demeaned under past recasts. Again, I don't think the Kathryn Hays/Kim Hughes comparison is far off.

I'll cover the rest of the ep in a bit but I am not going to jump to any conclusions on the gays hugging, lol. They still let the boring lesbians, etc. kiss on Y&R AFAIK and they certainly did with Luke and Noah's tiresome stories on ATWT years ago. I don't think we're going back to the Matt Fielding era here, and I think P&G/CBS are smart enough to know the pushback they'll get if they tried while touting all their progressive bonafides during the current media blitz.

As for the teen kids, while I still think many of both the str8 and gay couples on the show are too young for so many older kids they're just leaning into the obvious celeb trope of famous gay couples adopting 2.5 children.

I don't think that either ⏤ I think their lack of kissing, despite multiple instances they could have, is alluding to more in terms of story of the characters. Whether on the side of Martin or Smitty is where it remains to be seen.

Without saying anything, you'll have your answer later this week.

*gasps*

So they are feeding us good on these intrigues. Cuz there were just so many in this episode alone. Good to know answers are (well-pacingly) coming.

If Smitty dies in a Ted Brent car crash in the first 13 weeks I'll never stop laughing. He's cute though.

The Dupree family house reminds me of Viki's mansion on One Life to Live, but a more modern version with the direction of the stairs to the front door and the foyer.

Don't go there with me, Errol! I'd just gotten over Daphnee not heading up OLTL 3.0 with Dan Gauthier!

I appreciate that you aren’t outright spoiling but as someone who likes to go into the soap week completely blind to what will happen could you please use the spoiler tag when sharing these kind of hints throughout the thread?

Don't they have a dual staircase? In some BTS from the serial, there's a second staircase on the opposite side of the one we see on camera, no?
