Yesss you touched on the other portion perfectly as well. Ric and Lucky even have percent adversarial chemistry. It’s two men who have both never gotten over Liz and they just so happen to come back to town at the same damn time. I can’t get enough.

Also I don’t remember if I mentioned that I’m continuing to love Jordan and Isaiah. It’s pretty organic but it might even be a little too slow at this point. But they both sell it so well.

Jordan is beautiful but can't act to save her life. She is the worst actor I've seen on this show next to Oscar Nero (who's still rotting in hell as we type).

Jordan as a character has never actually been a character, merely functional - even when Vinessa Antoine played her. I'd rather see someone like Keesha Ward added back with some kids or relations, and see Jordan and T.J. both sent to the cornfield (along with Molly, Sidwell, Chase and at least a dozen other people). I'd put Isaiah with Lucas or another woman - or both!

That is actually a great idea, though I wouldn't quite go for it as I prefer to keep Cody (for Tracy, I'll never give up).

I would save Willow's fake cancer for another go-round, when she has to find a way to wriggle out of various misdeeds lol.

On a show where Maurice Bernard has barely remembered his lines for 20 years, I refuse to call Jordan the worst actor on the show outside of Oscar lol. I’m sure someone will mention Maurice was good 25 years ago so it’s okay.

One of the 'benefits' of the block filming has been that Lucky and Liz are being treated as a B/C plot and as such have been able to come together organically. So Yes...not my favorite of Liz's choice...but I soooo wanted Lucky to kiss her. So annoyed he didn't. Annnd...don't forget Jason

who has even better adversarial chemistry with Ric than Lucky. But I was glad to see officially that Lucky and Ric now match it.

I don't think you did, but I've been enjoying their scenes which HAS been a C plot so they have been organically brought together. And might actually have a storyline thanks to Sidwell. And also in my opinion, not the weakest actresses. She actually is sparking with Isaiah AND Sidwell so take that as you will.

I think MB and TH are both bad, but in very different ways.  MB still delivers some emotion even if he has issues with his lines and comes off a bit lazy.  TH is gorgeous and seems well prepared, but she has the emotional range of Selina Wu at this point.   Jordan is just very one note as a character and in the way TH plays her.

I know around here (or at least to @Vee) the kid that played Oscar is considered the worst actor ever to appear on GH.  Was he really that bad?  I honestly barely remember him.  I just don't recall thinking he was THAT bad lol.

For me, he was. And it was due to the fact that they hung all this story around him. We had a perfectly serviceable teen group, and if anyone should have been the epicenter it should have been Cameron, with ties to Liz and show history. Instead it revolved around an insufferable Joss and Oscar, who was a walking retcon surrounded by other nonsense. To give this kid a story about young loss was truly tragic because he was terrible. And it killed off another Quartermaine. Even if I didn’t like him a recast might have made him serviceable as a Q. The whole thing is why he gets so much hate IMO.

Personally, I think trying to name absolute worsts is an exercise in futility. Instead I would respectfully suggest we concentrate on categories more like Best Girlfriend, Worst Cassadine, Most Egregiously Stupid, ... you get my idea, I'm sure. Doesn't that sound like fun?

I do remember there was a lot of story around him and most of it was silly.  I still don't really understand Oscar's paternity, but I don't think that matters now.  I know the show was trying to do some Robin/Stone rip off with Joss/Oscar that just didn't work.  I think I was quite in and out of viewing during that period.  I don't think I ever realized he was that hated lol.  I just didn't enjoy that era of the show at all in general so I suppose Oscar didn't seem that much worse to me than anything else.

He wasn't as bad as people made him out to be (I happen to think Hudson West is far worse), and the same goes for Tanisha Harper. But there's zero intent/range in the writing where Oscar was concerned and where Jordan is presently concerned. If you ask me, returning Jordan was a "fix" when Sean Blakemore (ex-Shawn) quit to go back to primetime.

I don't think writing will help Tanisha Harper much.  I think some better direction and an acting coach might.  She's very wooden.  I do understand your point that there really is no range or purpose for Jordan and I would probably just ditch the character in general.  I know FV likes to have a huge cast, but you could rest Jordan for awhile and bring her back when you actually have something for her to do.  There has been no reason for her to be wandering around town for all these months having a few scenes here and there with very little importance.

I almost want to look up some Oscar/Joss stuff to judge for myself again.  The idea of rewatching that though is not appealing at all.

    • It surprises/disappoints me too that GL's ratings during '89-'93 don't reflect the quality of the show. But when I call it great soap, I'm not defining that by ratings either.  I'm probably in the minority, but I think Reilly takes something intangible with him when he goes. There's a sense of humor that just disappears in '93.
    • Ok, I know nothing about Another World except their catchy intro song from long ago, but this makes me want to catch!  That crazy mother keeping her son's girlfriend or wife hostage, wow!
    • And maybe Hotel could have been placed at 9pm Tues instead of Paper Dolls. Not that I thing it was a surefire thing but at least viewers were familiar with the show and it might have done better than PD. ABC's line up was pretty threadbare at that point. And with a big guest star to launch the season - Elizabeth Taylor- the numbers would have been there initially.
    • Any fan of RuPaul would dispute calling any of these examples “drag”. A costume?, A disguise?, A lame attempt at humor? -- yes -- Drag? -- nope
    • No asterisk. I meant that the circumstances during the first year were in her favor.
    • Maybe I am misunderstanding you? Are you suggesting that her success at GL should have an asterisk next to it because she was smart enough to exploit a weakness in the marketplace to gain ratings?  Note: Try not to take this personally—I’m not accusing anyone of being consciously misogynistic. I’m simply proposing that the origins of certain ideas about Ms. Phelps—such as claims that she was unprepared or a poor manager of her writing staff—may be rooted in misogyny. Perhaps, with the benefit of hindsight, it's worth reconsidering those opinions. At the very least, imagine being one of the few women in the room while a male network executive tries to decide what women want to watch during the day. That context has certainly led me to reassess many of my own long-held views.
    • Through 78 and 79 under Marland and Pat Falken smith GH was still heavily hospital based with a mix of storylines. The Doctors would have been fine had they followed that template. Once GH went with Ice Princess all bets were off.Who knows how much TD would have copied that direction? And OLTL, DOOL went in that direction quite heavily while other shows dabbled in far out stories. The thing is that TD was well set up for an expansion.

    • Aaron Spelling still had clout with ABC in Fall 1984, as I think they knew he was going to pull out all the stops for Dynasty to get to #1, which he did. That's probably why ABC kept Hotel as Dynasty lead out. Fall 1985 with the sale to Capital Cities and Brandon Stoddard arrival, Aaron Spelling would lose his clout with ABC.
    • Correction, July 1991 to May 1995. JFP got the ratings up during her first year, but it also helped that ABC big three were tanking at various times during that year and Days was in their post-supercouple/pre-Reilly mess era. It will always disappoint me that the ratings during the Calhoun/Long/Curlee era did not reflect the quality of the show.
