And as Douglas Marland once famously said, "If your audience says, 'he'd never do that,' you've failed."

It's an interesting quote because you could easily apply that to Barbara's actions after he arrived at ATWT

The best soaps are character-driven, but many times plot comes first.

I do think they would have been better off with Lois not knowing, given how important "the truth" has always been to her, but at least it gives Rena Sofer some material, I guess.

I think they would have been better off having Tracy as the one who knew.

Damn. They really want us to hate Drew and Willow (or maybe we should start calling her Willhoe

To my surprise, it seems to be working. Usually, I hate it when we're spoon-fed stuff like this and basically told who to like and who to hate, but it feels different this time lol I don't know if it's the acting or the writing but I'm really hoping that this all blows up in both of their faces. Or at least that Carly throws some slaps and punches tomorrow

And I'm definitely not buying the two of them as having this great love. A hot affair, hell yeah, but as an actual couple, Hell No! Maybe this should have been the storyline from the very beginning, going all the way back to when it came out that Nina tipped off the SEC. That might've made all of this somewhat believable. This was another thing that seemed to get lost in the shuffle last year.

And, agreed that all this stuff with Brook Lynn seems wayyyy out of character for Lois. Plus, an Italian mother would never keep a secret like that

Btw, aren't Dante and Brook Lynn cousins?

Yeah, a bright side to having Lois know for sure because I trust Rena to do that material justice.

See? That would be cool. And also plausible if it was Tracy.

Tbf they are already calling Willow that.

So do you hate her more than Joss though?

I'm not sure if they do. Joss and Dex left a dying woman so they could have sex, and she also cheated on a well-liked character, yet viewers were meant to side with them at every turn. This is the show where Sonny shot his ex-wife in the head and was still seen as a hero by many, so they probably think they can bestow the same popularity on their other pets.

You'd get some good run-ins with Tracy and Lois (and Tracy and Ned) over that too.

Some of the scenes with Michael were legitimately disturbing. I thought they would have just had a wrapped up body and written him off the show. I didn't expect to see Michael conscious and suffering with burning pains.

I saw a report on Facebook that said General Hospital would be issuing a viewer discretion warning during the California wildfires. Presumably this is because of some of the difficulties with Michael recovering from burns.

I assume the intention was to give Chad Duell some Emmy material for his final scenes and let a long time veteran play out his run.  I do think it's fair to allow that.  That doesn't mean I agree with the material and the graphic nature of it.

Also, as much as I hate Drew I feel awful that CM lost his house.  As someone who has been displaced living in Socal during evacuations in the past it is a very scary time.  This was just unfortunate timing on GH's part.

Well, Cameron Mathison was on TMZ live talking about it so it's a fact

How did these fires start?  Does anyone know?

True.  He moved entirely too fast there (something I'd otherwise never say about Douglas Marland).

So, Drew and Willow fiddled while Rome Michael burned?  Did GH forget to tell us that Dena Higley is their new HW?  Because, that's the kind of [!@#$%^&*] she'd pull.

    • I know Passions used this trope with Ethan and Sam to drag out the paternity, but GH seems to speed through certain stories while dragging others.
    • For any other soap, I think I’d agree, but GH, I don’t know

    • Agreed, that there was some strange choices in the episode, especially at the end, but overall, that was some great drama that opens up the potential for so much future storyline. Kat vs. Eva having the most potential, especially over Tomas. I have mixed feelings about Martin/BC though. I thought he did pretty well in scenes with Smitty/MM, but the scenes of him confronting Leslie and of him throwing the books were bad lol she acted circles around him.  It’s similar to what Harding Lemay said about George Reinholt at AW; he could be brilliant in one scene, but then mediocre in the next.
    • I know some of y'all really like Brooke Kerr, and so I've tried to give her a shot, despite her frequent flat line readings and distracted "did I leave the front door unlocked?" facial expressions. But lord, she is so bad at playing a tough-talking badass that I was actually rooting for Brad today to spill the beans to Drew.
    • Googling does tend to ruin it.  For those of us who were teens in the late 1970s and early 1980s, you can't imagine how much fun it was to watch the show in the afternoons.  (It came on right after school.)  There weren't any "spoilers" at the time.  We would always try to anticipate how each crime and each mystery would be resolved, and we were ALWAYS wrong, because the stories are filled with so many weird twists and turns.   The head writer (Henry Slesar) and his dialogue writer (Steve Lehrman) invariably toss genuine clues directly into your face in the most unlikely ways, but then they provide a host of "red herrings" to completely confuse you and send you off on the wrong path.  Once the story reaches its conclusion, all you can think is Why didn't I figure that out weeks ago?  lol
    • Does the vault have the original scene and not the short flashback?
    • I appreciate that you are using AI with the knowledge of it's limitations. Some posters take everything it produces as fact.
    • And of course Mama Ru herself appeared on All My Children.
    • The Saturday 8pm slot usually had the lowest rating of the NBC 4 sitcom lineup for some reason. NBC let Saturday night fizzle, They used 9.30 pm to launch 227 and Amen, both of which moved to earlier in the evening but they  kept Empty Nest following GG for several seasons.  Empty Nest should have moved to 8pm with their strongest new sitcom at 9.30, anticipating that GG would eventually falter. Instead they left them there and stretching the sitcom pool too thinly on other nights. When Grand talk over at 9.30 Thurs maybe Night Court and Wings could have been used on Saturday.
