ALL: Popular Actors playing Unpopular Characters

See, to me Avery was also a thankless part with a low life expectancy. Only Jessica Collins put that over for so long - she was what people cared about, Avery herself was not very popular. I also don't think LW is suited to playing a character that was often the calmer alternative to more brash characters.

(I do think a soap today probably could use Jessica Collins again, but she couldn't use them.)

Vee that is fantastic news! I've been hoping for positive things for you!

Yeah, pretty sure Park is happy with his once-in-a-lifetime daytime role in Jack Snyder.

EXACTLY! The writing was not there; Diane visited earlier in the year, and it was clear that's all it was meant to be. But then, suddenly, Diane is back by the year's end?! I don't think there was ever an intent for Diane's late 2010 return, regardless if it had been West, Susan Walters and/or someone else in the role.

I feel like Wright would have been hired to just play Casey (who I do have some recast ideas of), and Phelps would call it a day.

I also don't visually see Wright at Y&R.. the acting style isn't there, unless Jessica Collins was fired and they brought her in as Avery (in an attempt to pair Wright with Steve Burton's Dylan).

I agree. But I feel like she's doing well in primetime/streaming roles. But it is weird, to me, that Avery came and gone so quickly. Another Arena creation that was removed (and kind of rightfully so).

Michael Park stayed working and has definitely carved out a successful career for himself post-daytime. Unless he’s hired be the lead patriarch of a completely new daytime soap (ala Tamara Tunie), it’s best he stay away from daytime and keep the momentum his acting career has in other vehicles.

Just saw his name pop up in the credits of last night's Elsbeth. His character is not part of the murder of the week which features Alan Ruck but an ongoing thread regarding a past divorce case Elsbeth worked on. No idea if there is any reason why Park's character should be around very much though.
