B&B: November 2024 Discussion Thread

The past couple of weeks have been all about suspending belief:

1. Carter pushing to save HFTF after wanting to axe it a few weeks ago

2. Ridge/Eric absolutely against expansion, but, Ridge undermines Steffy and hires The Vine.

3. Dr. Doolittle randomly leaves Steffy's iPad in the design office instead of Steffy's office.

4. Taylor being included in Executive meetings and having zero tolerance for Hope. Hello, writers, Taylor may have been uptight, but she never viewed people as one-dimensional

5. Brooke a tad judgmental about office romances - then walks into a room with Eric/Ridge.

6. The Halloween episode. Yikes. And why isn't Sheila manipulating Hope/Finn? That's totally in Sheila's wheelhouse. I kinda wish they'd have Brooke/Sheila as allies. Is what Sheila did to Brooke any different than Taylor shooting Bill in the back?

11-1

Easily third place in my viewing though I thought it was an okay week. It's just in comparison to GH and Y&R which both feel like they are gearing up for November Sweeps already, B&B was just kinda there. Though I liked the acknowledgement of Halloween by Sheila. Made me think of her anniversary episode last year.

Wow. They are really doing a number on Carter, aren't they? I was happy to see him fight for expanding Forrester into other arenas because it was giving a business story. And I even felt like the writers could set up a potential takeover in a few lines of dialogue. But I agree with Eric and Ridge on that. Better to start small with the jewelry line first, and if it works, do more. And more importantly...do it slowly. But...again glad the jewelry line is a go. Meanwhile, his wanting to be Hope's white knight now that she has been kicked out of Forrester was giving a character turn and that was meh. Though LSV has always been great at giving anger.

Just like JMW gives good bitca. And Steffy's been nothing but that this week. I wish people would call out that how she has been acting IS more personal than businesswoman, but alas. And the whole genesis for firing Hope was silly, but soapy. Of course, Hope could have revealed that she was dressing up for Carter, but lol. I guess they want to keep that secret a little bit longer. And then to see the interns (happy to see them again) watch Hope be kicked out. lmao.

What is Taylee here?

And look who is back next week?

Well, since they are still in the credits...

Yep. Pretty much.

LSV is the Alpha man B&B has desperately needed since $B was emasculated during the past 5 years. He's also a better scene partner for AN - there's a different vibe that's refreshing.

I do hope they make the split stick. As so many of us have observed, B&B really needs a competing fashion house to FC. It's been way to claustrophobic with all the conflicts coming within - basically being reduced to Forrester/Marone v Logan.

I just find it rich that neither Steffy nor Ridge are Forresters. These are the same people who try to de-legitimize Rick, who really should've been brought back to fight for his birthright.

I haven’t watched B&B since March 2023. I’m a Sheila fan. Does she currently have a story?

If not, why don’t they bring back Lauren for an arc? They need a showdown. That’s what I’ve been waiting for for almost twenty years now.

Kelly Monaco should play Mary Warwick (but I’d have the character go by Erica Carter).

Well if it’s horrible written, why watch? Is she still battling boring old Steffy?

Sheila needs a story with Eric…Lauren…even Amber.

It would be so funny if Scotty Grainger moved to LA and Sheila instantly dropped Finn

There were some nice close ups yesterday

But that’s all I got. When it comes to something being forced and contrived, B&B is worse than the other three soaps put together.

And next year, probably will be worse than the other four soaps put together.

I like the idea of Carter creating his own company, because all these ideas he brought up seem like the start of something bigger storyline-wise, instead of just a random idea that's instantly shot down. A rival company would be a welcome return to B&B form.

Meanwhile, I'm having a total Models Inc. flashback, hearing them recycling the Brooke & Bill theme music but with a saxophone added. They did the same thing on Models Inc., using the same type of music as Melrose Place, but with a sax for added effect.

AGREED! I always vibrate when Bridget makes an appearance! She's my Fave Child of Brooke's Hands Down!

Bridge Is Breaking up again and Honestly GREAT! Ridge Has been a trash partner lately and even Brooke deserves better than that! And someone please knock Steffy out of her High Horse!

    • My comment has nothing to do with cast resentment, but does relate to the Finland location shoot: It may be a coincidence, but Jim Matthews died in Finland in 1982.  Hugh Marlowe's final episode was in April 1982, but the character probably didn't die untll May or June. (I'm unable to find the character's date of death, only the date of Marlowe's final episode). SInce Jim and Rachel had very little interaction after around 1975, it is unlikely Jim's death in Finland had any connection to Rachel's potential visit, but the choice to have Jim die in that location at that time is a head-scratcher.
    • I totally understand your sloths concern about it and I agree with you. Let’s hope the show plays it’s cards right.    Further comments about the last few episodes: - I liked that one of the attendees was filming the scene. That’s realistic. I wonder if the writers will follow up with that.  - Martin and Smitty trying to drag Leslie out was very heteronormative, so perfectly in line with them two as characters lol.    As for the future: it’s obvious the Duprees will come to accept Eva one way or another, but the rivalry with Kay should be here for the long term   On the topic of acting: the only bad actors I’m seeing are Ted and Derek. Tomas hasn’t proven to be either good or bad, so far, but he’s certainly mediocre and uncharismatic. He sucks the energy out of the scenes and I don’t see any couple of women ever vying for him.
    • I’m trying to think which actors VW were working with at the time, and none of them had been there for a while. Even like Mac and Ada didn’t have that big of a part in Rachel’s storyline.  And Jamie was involved with all that movie stuff.
    • Brooke did ads before ATWT too. That probably helped get her the job. After ATWT she seemed to branch more into hosting, along with ads.  I think I saw Kelley in an ad or two, but you're right she wasn't on as much.
    •   Thanks for sharing these. I wonder if Charles might have been in the running for Adam. I know Preacher was a bit of a bad boy at times on EON, but Neal seemed to be a step down, and Robert Lupone had played a similar part on AMC. Given the huge cast turnover at this point I wonder who thought they had been there long enough to go.  Laura Malone/Chris Rich would get a remote within the next year.
    • Interesting.  It seems to allude to that statement that Warren Burton made around that time about some AW actors getting special treatment.  I wonder who was resentful about not getting to go.
    • Good morning, boys!  I figured that it was time that our Gio was introduced into the hotness thread

@ranger1rg I even included a close up of his face for ya!
    • Under all of Madonna's social media today there is this wave of negative, toxic, absurd comments by Lady Gaga fans telling her how Gaga surpassed her in concert in Copacabana. I mean... Who the hell cares? Why are these fan communities so freaking toxic??? I'm sure Madonna doesn't care... But still. Have some respect for M. Leave her social media alone. Go cheer Gaga and be happy. Why come and spew hate on M??? Crazy world.
    • FYI, again, Ruth/Letitia is not in either of these 2 episodes. So that concludes the 4 episodes I had from Nov. 1983. I don't have the October episodes.
    • Eddie has begun uploading the 1990 episodes. I'm so happy about that. I was mindfully taking a break till there's plenty of episodes I can binge watch when I feel like it. Now that 1989 is complete... I can't wait to press play on February 1989 and resume where I left off.
