True, and the writing isn't supporting them, either.

NLG did all she could in her scenes with Sam, but what she was given was tired and cliche. I've heard it all before on dozens of soaps, and I just wasn't moved when I should have been.

And what's with the continuity in makeup and hair? Are they piecing scenes taped on different days? When Alexis is in the hospital waiting area, she looks stripped of makeup and very pale. In Sam's room, she's wearing more eye makeup and her face has a sheen.

Van Hansis' hair was not shiny and slicked back the way it was in the operating room. Did the hair product stop working?

Going by how people mention FV's technique to get these 'hip' 60 second 'primetime' cuts of scenes...I believe the answer would be yes.

Ah!!! That was the answer I was looking for!

Because just watching this week's episodes...it's just...ugh. But I couldn't remember what FV's way of 'editing' works. So thank you.

He really ain't S^&* for that, is he?

It's what he's done since they returned from COVID hiatus; the spoiler preview for today mentioned Ned & Tracy, and yet they did not appear; whatever "Sam" material airs tomorrow, I am sure could have been edited into today's episode, and the Willow/Michael/Sasha things could have waited. Also to mention: the credits for writers & directors did not air until the second set of scenes post-opening credits.

Plus, on the episode Sasha went to Robert's office and then Nina's office her hair/makeup changed between scenes. Clearly, both shot on different days, and her hair TODAY when she left the hotel room semi-mirrored when she showed up at Robert's office.

MESS. This is why you should be shooting "episodes" and not "scenes". And it's why Robert Adamson appeared sporadically in June and July 2022: he taped scenes in the time he was there, and they aired over a period of time.

It's lazy.

LOL!!! Not you sounding like what I posted this morning after watching 10-30. But to be fair...I've have noticed that is how I've been feeling since last week and sadly it IS increasing. Like you I find it lazy and oh so sloppy.

So...since I brought it. Is that how block-taping works? If so, he needs to get his money back.

Same for how LH filmed when she filmed as Sam I believe.

And then there was two.

Because I said the same thing. And I was OVER the 'wacka wacka' vibe they keep trying to put over scenes that need to be play serious. They did that last week or the week before with the Holly is Sasha's mother reveal and I was livid. Thankfully, they had the basically same scene with Holly, Felicia, and Maxie and it was played more straight (cuz Maxie would be snarky about that and that was IN CHARACTER), allowed to breathe surprisingly IMHO, and humanized Holly greatly. More than the first scenes with her and Sasha.

No clue how it works; I just know they tape "scenes" for use. When they came back from COVID, they inserted saved scenes taped pre-COVID, and put them into the episode. Frank must have seen that, went "Oh that's smart," and kept it. MESS!

Like, Michael & Sasha scenes were shot October 4, while the Dante & Rocco scenes, which aired same episode, were taped September 24. It's inconsistent AF, and messy.

Van Hansis confirmed his first scenes on GH were with Kirsten Storms' Maxie and taped those in one-day, then went back to NY.... and then came back. Yet, the first scenes aired were with Carly & Josslyn at the Corinthos home.

Just got through 10/30 episode and wow, Van cannot act. Operating room death scenes are hard but that Scooby Doo crew of "actors" in those scenes was laughable.  And the outline and particularly the dialog was god-awful.  I can understand they are saving money by hiring inexperienced (and possibly scab) writers but yesterday's script was laughable.  On top of the fact that almost everyone Frank hires (males in particular) cannot act.  I may not be able to get through today's episode since it's written by the same two "writers" NC and CL.

    • I don't think they had any idea who he was this time last year. I think they were keeping their options very open. Same with totally dropping the Trina romance that was spoiled for him in the mags once FV clearly took a shine to him. Frank's priorities are bright and blazing in one color. I do think Gio and Emma seem to have worked out given that she is very dry and sarcastic and he is like a hot golden retriever, but I'd still play the field or explore quads with both with very different people - Emma with a scheming young man (of color), Gio with possibly Trina or someone else, or even a boy. Then maybe put them back together, who knows. But of course none that will happen.

    • He definitely got lost in the shuffle last year. First, they were implying that he was Drew’s son, then he was nothing more than just Violet’s bff

And then they changed him to being Dante and Brook Lynn’s son, which was clunky at first but I’m enjoying the storyline now.
    • GM is adorable, charming and fun onscreen despite months of nothing to do until recently, and has a bodacious bod. I'm not cosigning the show or this story - I haven't watched a full episode in over a month - but I think we're all taking the small victories in 2025 at this point. I'm open to testing this theory!
    • I think Jason might've posted some numbers for the syndication a while ago and the numbers for Falcon Crest was horrible. Like 1.5 rating or something, which was terrible.    ETA: it was actually Paul Raven:   New to syndication 60 min Fall Guy 67 markets 3.1/8 Falcon Crest 110 markets 1.1/5 To get into the top 40, you needed a 4.6/9 rating for reference - and Falcon Crest managed to get into a lot of markets to begin with. In the fall of 1985 Dynasty, Dallas and Knots were syndicated (show / rating / share / coverage % / markets): Dallas 3.4 10 51.7 92 Dynasty 3.4 10 48.7 47  Knots Landing 3.3 10 12.5 20  So, Knots as an example trippled Falcon Crest's rating with 20 markets - I'm sure those were major ones but it just goes to show you how much Falcon Crest bombed in syndication.
    • It's not bad but the stories move too slow. It's the same problem when Dan O'Connor was CO-HW with Van Etten, they have a million stories and they all drag on endlessly with no resolution. I'd argue the majority of the stories airing now are good but you get sick of waiting months for something to happen.
    • Thanks. I must have missed that period entirely for Lifetime.
    • Thanks. I know Marland did that type of thing sometimes but it's less likely with these characters. I don't even remember Alex ever mentioning him.
