There's so much to consider, because it seems like Lifetime (or any network) would insist that it would be a stand-alone story, so that it would have wide appeal.  Much like when they did the Flowers in the Attic movies, they re-introduced the characters every time, so they didn't need to depend on audience prior knowledge.  And given that's been a long time since AMC was on the air, I wonder how much time will be spent re-establishing characters.

Obviously, actors have aged, some have died, and others have gone onto to other projects.  So, will they re-cast?  Will they have new characters and just include cameos from other actors?

I can't imagine a story set in Pine Valley without some reference to Erica Kane.  But, I guess anything is possible.

Not having Pine Valley shenanigans on my screen for all these years has left an empty space in my heart so this is exciting but the previous false starts leave me cautious.

Being able to check in on the Kane’s, Martin’s, Chandler’s and Hubbards again would heal a little bit of me for real lol. I really hope this all works out

I think this idea would've fit GL or ATWT better, but I'm not mad at it. Any attempt to bring a soap back is a good thing. It could also lead to a series down the road if it's successful, or streaming for classic episodes.

ABC's soap catalog is huge and wasting away. Any effort to do something with it is a good thing in my opinion. This also has a much better chance of happening than Pine Valley did. The networks are all cutting their scripted content and there is a lot of competition in primetime. I wish they'd moved it to streaming or even Lifetime, but I'm interested in seeing where this goes.

I don't agree. I think she'd be glad to see her favorite show back and she would have all kinds of ideas if she was still here. I agree that a TV movie isn't what she had had in mind but it's still bringing the show back in some form.

    • I can barely remember who was the person they tested her with for the AMC revival but I *do* remember kinda liking them together (anyone remember better?  lol)  But yes, I feel the same.  It might not help that when I became a regular viewer Tad was presumed dead and she was with Craig...  I do remember that my sister's best friend had been an AMC viewer with her mom and dad and that they were very excited that Tad was returning... OK I instantly remembered that.  And now once again I'm sad about what coulda been with the reboot.
    • Well, that is weird. I do not see him but I only have him on Ignore on 2 accounts.
    • In the preview for the show back in February on Entertainment Tonight, Jeresa the costume designer was specific about each character's economic background, personality, and the character's personal fashion preferences.  Very much about the characters and not the actors. She said Eva is a thrifter, so her normal daily wardrobe would be something from a thrift store, and if BTG buys it new, they intentionally make it look used. So what you said fits about the type of thing a lower income person would buy for a fancy event.
    • As hard as it is for me to imagine anyone but Don Stewart as Mike Bauer...I dunno...maybe someone like "Adam-12"'s Kent McCord?  Or Robert Hogan?
    • Yep I don't hate Javi and then he's macking on Leo and I'm done with him. Leo is a failure who needs to go away   I am bracing myself for Alex reading the manuscript and imagining him and Stephanie as the main characters, because this couple has literally nothing else to do until Joy comes back showing
    • Oh yes. The towel scene though
    • Interesting that Donald May has been mentioned twice. He's on my dreamcast list for Alan. He was somewhat older than Stewart and Bernau, but he could have played either role. An actor I thought about for Mike was Dan Hamilton. He played a role on GL during the 60s, but enough time had passed that it shouldn't have been a problem. He usually played smarmy characters but it would have been cool if they had gone against typecasting.
    • I like Jed Allan, it has to be someone who can play authority but "good" authority to oppose Alan's bad. As mentioned upthread, can you imagine how it would have been with Alan and Mike against each other, with Roger in the mix. But I would have had Roger, ever the opportunist to try to take advantage of their fighting to make his own headway.  Maybe that could have been the storyline, Mike involved with Alex, but the constant fighting with Alan causes a rift (she like Mike fighting Alan when it is to her advantage, but he can be a bit self righteous and I can see him demanding her to disavow Alan publicly..) so that is how Roger lands in her bed, much to the consternation of BOTH Alan and Mike. I would like to have a woman of a certain age being fought over by two men (really three if you count Alan.
    • Please let May have less garbage time. The Y&R threads have shrunken, whereas I can barely keep up with the Beyond the Gates threads.
