Steve Burton has always seemed protective of the Jason/Robin romance.  I don't know how much he cares about it now, but he's always spoke fondly of it.

Honestly, with KeMo being canned, Liz most likely getting Lucky back, Jason/Carly flopping for the 2nd or 3rd time, and Britt being dead, it's not like Steve has a ton of other options to push an agenda for.

Exactly. He vetoed Jason and Carly for years too, til he didn't. Suddenly Jason was down to fúck two women in the same year. Only reason he and Carly haven't in the 2020s is because Steve quit last time and they still have zero chemistry this time while the ratings cratered during his comeback.

Just the other day in a recent podcast he was clear that he thinks it's an absurd idea. Sorry I don't know what exact words but my impression was a disparaging guttural sound along with saying that it is NOT the kind of relationship they are setting up between him & "Robin's mother"!!! They answer questions from fans in one segment & you got it, some fan asked. I do not believe he liked even being asked!

Yeah.  We can go into all the backstage dynamics that Frank allows especially with his faves, but I don't know if Steve has the power to veto this on principle.  Robin/Kmc isn't coming back outside short visits, so that's not an issue.  Jason's return certainly hasn't set GH ratings on fire, so I could see Steve being smart and just doing what he's told at this point and not creating waves.  He's pretty lucky he got re-hired so seamlessly in the first place and it's very clear the show is shoe horning Jason in stories where he doesn't exactly belong to make him relevant.

Not liking it and refusing to play it are two different things.  We are used to Mo and Steve throwing their weight around, but SBu might just be fine letting it happen to keep his job.  I think we sometimes overestimate Steve's power these days.  The show can survive without him.

Even though most of us know the show could survive without Sonny it hasn't since 1998.

I also think it's fairly likely Jason and Anna are kissing in the cells to distract the guards. But that's almost certainly not the end of it. As I said elsewhere, soaps usually don't do this kind of material unless they are playing with pursuing a romance. Finola's new interview today about the scenes certainly suggests there's more to their motivation for a kiss than just that kind of action. Jason and Anna have been tight for months, and Steve is out of romantic options on the show.

I'm not really talking about anyone refusing to play something they might be asked to play. More of what I mean is that they pretty much know what will or will not happen. So not throwing weight around as much as just being aware. And, my impression from what it was that he recently said is that it's not gonna happen. So, if you see what I mean, maybe that is more clear.

If you write in a way that has Jason and Anna conflicted about their feelings, and not like a trashy B&B style kind of way, it could be interesting.  You could even bring back Kim for a short arc if things progress with Anna/Jason romantically.   Plus, like you said, Jason/Robin was so long ago.   The more I think about it, I think it would be pretty soapy.  LOL

Months ago, Jason and Anna started getting close by sharing cop stuff and inside info. I saw it then, that they would likely put them together in some romantic way. I was jumped. Oh no! Not Robin's mother and Jason! Please. This stale writing can easily put up with a little social media uproar if Jason and Anna do the deed. It's what they crave, attention and uproar. No doubt they will run with it.

    • Wow, do I agree with you. Chelsea is coming off as ridiculous. All she does is look for a woman to date while not caring about her business at all. That she's bi is great, but they're not writing her like she's bi. She seems to be lesbian. Yeah, I know -- "no labels." I just don't find the writing for her story to be anything other than awkward.   -- I hope we get some diagnosis finality with Bill's trip to the hospital. I don't want to see these trips to the ER every other day. -- Naomi is going to blame herself for Bill's health problems? GMAB. -- Ashley doesn't read as a real nurse in the slightest. -- Another day, another rinse and repeat conversation with Derek and Ashley. YAWN. -- Kat is making mistakes, but she's fun to watch and listen to, regardless. -- I still think the Joey/Vanessa/Doug gambling story sucks. I know Doug is deeply in debt, but I don't like him acting this meek and submissive.  -- I'm not sure what Joey's plan was from the beginning, or why he had to seduce Vanessa at all to get his way. I'm not sure what Vanessa ever saw in Joey -- why doesn't he give her the ick? -- I'm fine with a story where Doug and Vanessa take out Joey.  -- The fades to commercials were pretty bad today.
    •   Victoria's house (that she long ago lived in with Billy) burned down (I think Aunt Jordan set ablaze?). Mariah and Tessa and baby Aria had been living in the tack house but they bought a house we've never seen and moved there. Victoria, Claire, and Cole now live in the tack house.
    • Victoria’s previous house burned down.    And I know why characters frequent Crimson Lights 3 times a day for brownies, muffins and empty mugs:   THERE’S PCP IN EVERYTHING.
    • Today was a good episode, and the week for that matter. I think they've also done a better job with background music. The scenes in todays episode weren't as silent as they usually are in the background and it was noticeable. I think the show has found its groove well and I'm still invested.
    • Garneau was in the Liberal party and his riding was in Montreal. He was the first Canadian in outer space.
    • I agree. I really have enjoyed this story from the beginning. I feel like it needed the time for us to care about Doug. They've done a nice job of explaining his motives and making me care for him. I still feel like he's doomed and Vanessa will end up being a widow and now I'm invested in that *not* happening now that I've fallen for him. Friday was good but so was the entire week. I think they're doing such a nice job of keeping things moving. We got good movement with Bill's story this week, Chelsea is attempting to date, Andre and Dani are having tough conversations about their relationship, of course Anita reunited with Sharon. There is *so* much going on and I didn't even cover all of it.  I wish all of the soaps would take a page out of BTG book and start rotating their stories. I love that everybody is getting a chance to shine and they don't just sit on one lead story to the point you get sick of it.
    • Did Jordan Clarke have a departure sometime between 1985 and 1989? I know Robert Newman had three runs: 1981-1984, 1986-1991, 1993-end.
    • Well, they usually weren't on the show at the time for long until the late 90's. But yeah, they really deserved a story centered on them, and not through the lens of Reva.
    • Chelsea was doing the absolute most today! Why was she introducing her sister to a woman she doesnt know? That whole scene was embarrassing. Madison needs to stay away from her bc she is too immature
    • Gosh, what a waste with Lunacy. Why have her live with $B, reveal Finn, pardon her, etc What makes this story incredibly hollow is that what Luna is asking isn't unreasonable - to spend time with her cousin father. She's not asking to move in with them. How hard with it be for Finn to throw her a bone by, say, I'll meet you for lunch/coffee once at week at the hospital cafeteria. Lunacy isn't going to hurt Finn. In fact, all her crimes were related to finding her father and it turns out to be someone she's loved her entire life. Instead of course-correcting the nonsense of last summer, Brad somehow found a way to make this worse! That's a skill... Of all the younger actors B&B has cast during the past 5 years, LY has shown the most growth and range. Why get rid of her?
