Who are some of the actors that particular writers and performers seemed to like,?-based on them appearing on different soaps that those writers or producers were involved with.

Jill Farren Phelps favorites are often mentioned .

Some others

Bill Bell - Robert Clary appeared in 3 Bell soaps Bell was writing-DOOL, Y&R and B&B each time playing pretty much the same character.

Wes Kenney- When he came to Y&R, Patty Weaver, Suzanne Zenor, Mark Tapscott joined the cast, all who had been on Days during his tenure.

Doug Marland - Wrote Lisa Brown into ATWT when he joined, after writing for her as Nola on GL.

Other examples?

Peter Brown also appeared on Bill Bell Days, Y&R, B&B.

Bill Bell Days to Y&R: K.T. Stevens, Margaret Mason, Susan Seaforth Hayes

Bill Bell Days to B&B: Susan Flannery

Y&R to B&B before the cross-overs: John McCook, James Storm, Lauren Koslow, Darlene Conley

Wes Kenney also brought Tracey Bregman to Y&R. She credited him in her Emmy speech for her being cast on Y&R. I think Scott Palmer was another Wes Kenney era Days actor that came over to Y&R.

Also John Wesley Shipp, Gregory Beecroft, Ellen Dolan on Guiding Light and As the World Turns when Doug Marland wrote for both shows.

Tom Langan brought over 1980s Y&R stars to Reilly Days: Deborah Adair, Eileen Davidson, Nick Benedict, Jaime Lyn Bauer, Lauren Koslow.

And Doug Marland specifically created Carrie for Jane Eliot on Guiding Light after writing for her as Tracy on GH. But he never used her on ATWT in the 7 years he was there.

Henry Slesar created a role for Lois Kibbee(Emily) on Somerset after he wrote her off EON and then brought Geraldine back to Edge. She the wrote EON under his leadership.

Was he writing OLTL when she was cast as Elizabeth?

Marla Adams was definitely a favorite of Sally Sussmans, the obvious being she was there when Dina was first introduced on Y&R in 1983, and of course she brought her back during her HW stint in 2017. She also had her on Generations and Days too when she wrote for those shows.

Tracey Bregman is also another favorite of Sally Sussman. She often credits herself for “creating” Lauren in 1983 and she started using Lauren more heavily again  when she took over Y&R 2016/2017 until I guess network interference got in the way. She also had TEB come on her short lived MTV soap “spyder games”.

Agnes Nixon when casting AMC used some performers she had written for before.

Judith Barcroft Lenore AW Anne AMC

Kay Campbell Helene TGL Kate AMC

And when Bernard Grant left TGL he was cast on OLTL.

Bill Bell used Susan Seafort Hayes heavily on Days as the definitive Julie after a few casting attempts and then cast her On Y&R and considered her for Stephanie on B&B.

Didn’t Tom Donovan lure Lesley Charleson to GH as a Monica recast? They worked together on Love is a Many Splendored Thing. I read something she said about him hiring her and then not too long after being fired and leaving her there.

Gloria Monty loved David Lewis. Directed him on Bright Promise, hired him as Edward Q, and then lured him out of semi-retirement to come back to GH when she did in the 90’s.

Tony Geary was also on Bright Promise, not sure if Monty worked with him there too.

Watching that era recently it occurred to me Langan was also bringing some of the Y&R glamour to the show. It is much more lushly produced when the early 90’s sets in.

Yes, Monty took 3 people from BRIGHT PROMISE to go to GH. Third person Gail Brown? Susan Baldwyn? Might have to look that up.

And, also, yes, about Tom Donovan, Lesley Charleson & LIAMST, all that, yes, too. Also, though I think there was something about the head of ABC Daytime & Lesley Charleson. Again, might have to look that one up. I believe, though, that LC's star was shining particularly brightly about then.

Jill Farren Phelps brought her favourites to The Young and the Restless from Hollywood Heights with Robert Adamson as Noah Newman (replacing Kevin Schmidt), Hunter King as Summer Newman (replacing Lindsay Bushman) and Melissa Ordway as Abby Newman (replacing Emme Rylan).

Ron Carlivati and Frank Valentini brought their favourites from One Life to Live to General Hospital from 2012–2013. Those friends were Kristen Alderson as Starr Manning, Michael Easton as John McBain, Roger Howarth as Todd Manning; subsequent arrivals were Kassie DePaiva as Blair Cramer and Florencia Lozano as Téa Delgado. Other One Life cast members appeared upon Carlivati's exit, including: James DePaiva as David Bensch, Patrick Gibbons Jnr as Wyatt Hoover, Hillary B. Smith as One Life's Nora Buchanan and Bree Williamson as Claudette Beaulieu, just to name a "few".

It's always been of interest to me, at least, that Betty Rea cast her when she had no role for her. At that time Rea was the Casting Director for BOTH ATWT & GL. She was trying to find a Morgan for GL. She supposedly said that there was no way that this girl was a Morgan but that someone was going to snap her up & it might as well be her. Later Marland called her his "Muse." Of course, she is famous for both Nola & for Iva, two more different roles are hard to imagine. As the use for Nola & Iva began to wane, one of those soaps hired her as Acting Coach.

It's Susan Brown & she played Gail Baldwyn. My mind just played Mix & match.

JFP brought a few other of her faves to Y&R:

She brought Jason Thompson from GH to Y&R to play Billy Abbott.

She brought Michael E. Knight to Y&R to play the shady doctor Simon Neville.

Thompson and Knight each gushed about how great JFP was when they were brought to Y&R.

Knight thought his other (notTad) role on AMC was wonderful and thanked JFP for that character. I don't know of any viewers that liked that, but he did.

(EDIT later:  I got that wrong. JFP was not involved with AMC.)

In viewer conversations, JFP's favorites were/are referred to as "FOJ" (Friends of Jill).

Other FOJs include: Kale Brown, AW to OLTL; Larry Lau, AW to OLTL; Jensen Buchanan, AW to GH; Linda Dano, just generally speaking; Tim Gibbs, SB to AW.

As far as the Ted/Tad storyline goes, I loved it. Part of that was Nola Orsini, Ted's mother. She was played by Barbara Rush, who died this past winter.
