I think it would be nice to see Traci happy with her life and having Alan as friend with benefit that she catches up with from time to time.

And give Traci something more in her life than gushy maiden aunt. At least have her involved in writing a novel and reference the process rather than her popping out a book out of nowhere.

Maybe acknowledge that at her age there's not much interest in her work and she has to self publish.

Yesterday it was the Nikki/Lily scenes and Victor/Billy scenes. This episode it was the underrated Adam/Kyle scenes...next generation characters who SHOULD be in more scenes...and the Adam/Jack scenes. It's clear there are some better (and probably new) writers over at Y&R. Cuz this episode was a real gem.

I was actually shocked to see the episode start off with Kyle and Adam. And watching them interact...and realizing they are both having drama with their kids...I was wondering why we don't see the next generation interact as much. Especially right now when they were clear mirror images of each other at this point in time. Well-played whoever wrote that.

And I thought that Adam/Jack scene was delicious. Given that Adam definitely knows more than Jack what's going on. But Adam/Jack always have good chemistry so it was good to see it on display.

So it was safe to see the episode lose its spark due to Billy/Chelesa/Adam/Sally. It looks like the truth is about to come out. We will see. I would rather it not, but we will see.

JG is really allergic to writing a reveal at an event, isn't he?

I knew Chelesa couldn't keep it together. So she was going to blow her own life up with the secret of the Adam fling eventually. But she couldn't wait until the launch of AC to do it for it to come out...and just as Victor snaps up the company from Billy Boy? Am I asking too much? Just ugh on her. I think the only thing that makes me care about it at all is Sally and her connection to Adam. So him lying to her was something I cared about. As for Billy...

I was surprised to see Faith and Lucy. I did like to see that Faith was a little bit more honest and tried to let Lucy down easy. But it looks like next week is going to take a turn.

And speaking of turns...where is this Sharon storyline going? Because that spectre of Camereon has me thinking she wants to go off her rocker and do something to Daniel now. But would she?

Decent week overall.

Because I was so totally watching Knots Landing reruns last week I didn’t watch Y&R at all last week and only watched a couple B&B episodes just to see the current mess for laughs lol.

@Taoboi For once I’m now a week behind you lol, although I did read a couple recaps. I read the 8/23 recap for a second and with the recap’s showing a picture Billy screaming in Chancellor Park in the dark is all I needed to see I wasn’t missing anything

The sooner this quad is over the better. Also the forcing of Faith and Lucy to become modern parallels of Cassie isn’t working for me at all. It’s stupid and again feels very forced. If JG hadn’t ridiculously SOARSed Faith into college abruptly this story could work with Faith being a HS upperclass vs Lucy being like a sophomore or something, but only if Lucy had the hots for a similarly aged Moses and/or Johnny with their being a retro Glo by Jabot at Fenmore’s theme going on. Something JG is too incompetent to write

Hehe. I've actually been enjoying B&B more than all the soaps surprisingly. But it appears to be in one of those grooves where it can bounce more than one story at a time (off the top of my head 4 is running) so it's a lot more enjoyable since if there is one story I don't like (looking at you, NuTaylor!), there's other things...and hotties...to look at. lol.

Don't get me started on Billy. I think of the gif of the old black woman in the wheelchair thinking of that screaming scene. Am I supposed to care about that prick? Cuz I DON'T.

They haven't gotten to that yet with Faith/Lucy so I'll reserve judgment until I see the scenes which I think is on yesterday and Tuesday episode. Right now, it just seems like Lucy might be a bit obsessive like her biological mother for me. Though I do feel an undercurrent. And I am looking forward to JM without that annoying jacket on.

I agree with your idea though. If only JG could write. This fling wouldn't be coming out in private right now...for example.

Ugh I watched 8/21 recently and I was blown away by what a douche Billy was to Lily, who is essentially his only ally. I was also blown away at how boring the show was and the lack of energy. Also Nikki and Lily sat with plates in front of them for about an hour without any food which was as weird.

8/22 was a bit better with Kyle/Adam and Adam/Jack scenes.

And the sets problem continues.

It's the morning, and Nikki is so worried about Faith that she and Victor are at the GCAC for breakfast? Don't they have a maid at home?

Jack and Billy have to go to Crimson Lights for coffee?

I realize it's important for characters to run into each other, but the other soaps don't seem to be  as awkwardly bad at it as YR.

Look at the prices on that outfit. The top is $963 and the skirt is $1495.

Even if it’s offscreen, I wouldn’t mind the characters saying they ate somewhere different for dinner. As it stands everyone in GC is addicted to the food at the GCAC and Society and it’s all they live off of besides coffee from Crimson Lights. Y&R is the only soap currently where characters drink coffee at all hours of the day and no one ever makes any at home.

I have often wondered why they couldn’t do this, just slip it in the conversation. Once you’ve seen a character push around their salad around the plate for five minutes, you’ve pretty much seen them all “eat”.

It would change things up if two characters encounter each other, when one is doing a morning jog or power walk and the other is getting off their bicycle…something different to break up the monotony of the coffee clatch scenes.

Put that Chancellor park to some actual use.

It's funny you say that since I just watched GH's 8-19 episode and Jordan just did that with Molly (using a different setting and giving the reason for it in dialogue). I immediately thought of this and it was so plausible how it was done.

I mean they were using the park pretty often at one point. And it seem like they are slowing getting back to that.

Now if they just had all the hottie men do the jogging. lol.

Well outside of Nick FINALLY being out of that jacket and the camera trying its best to hide JM's bubble...this episode was pretty meh to me.

Which is weird to me because it focused on the storylines that I'm currently interested in. Which right now is the Faith/Lucy storyline and the Sharon storyline.

I liked that Faith got a clue about Sharon lying. And I loved that Sharon finally told Faith the truth about what's going on with her. So how tragic for Faith to get in a car accident.

And then Faith and Lucy...I kinda want to know how the accident happened. It looked like Faith was finally talking sense to Lucy. And Lucy is just...obsessed.

And loved the little scene between Jack/Kyle and Kyle/Summer/Chance. Giving nice B story.

    • Finland seemed such an odd choice for a location shoot. ATWT went to Greece and later Spain while GL had Tenerife and there were others in that timeframe. But Finland not being a known tourist destination or offering the tropical/sunny atmosphere usually associated with location shoots seems off brand. Maybe they were negotiating a deal with a tourist association and it fell through.
    • I was talking about 1986, but the glimpses of 1982 are about the same.
    • I skimmed some of the 1982 synopses; Steve was planning on an opening an office in Finland, and I think Jim went there as part of the preparation. That probably was a big issue; AW had already gone to San Diego that year, with Rachel/Steve/Mitch. And to upstate NY with Pete and Diana. I wonder if upstate was as expensive lol  AW in 1982 has always fascinated me, because of how messy it was
    • That makes sense. What a messy time for the show. And any changes they made were mostly for the worse.
    • The transition from Neal to Adam was very abrupt, and to be honest my theory is that the character of Neal was designed so that we think he is super shady but then it turns out that he was on the side of good all along so Neal could have seamlessly become a hero of the BCPD with no need for Adam. I don't know whether Robert Lupone was hired on a short contract or if he was fired from a longer-term contract because they decided they wanted someone who was more of a leading man type, but I can imagine a scenario where Charles Grant did both the undercover Egyptian treasure/flirt with Victoria and the straighter-arrow day to day police investigation. But in my imagined scenario the MJ prostitution plotline probably doesn't exist and instead he probably continues a relationship with Victoria. The story seems very odd to me. I assume that David Canary would have been included only because a plotline where Steve is going to Finland in which only Rachel is seen in actual Finland seems unlikely. The synopses explicitly mention that Alice can't go with Steve but would whoever was playing Alice at that time have had the kind of clout to get the remote cancelled? It also strikes me as unlikely that production would have approved the expensive location shoot and *then* cancelled it only because of jealousy. It seems more likely that they rejected it because of the expense but then the jealousy part got added to the gossip speculatively, possibly because while it was being worked out they justified not including more castmembers because of the expense.
    • My comment has nothing to do with cast resentment, but does relate to the Finland location shoot: It may be a coincidence, but Jim Matthews died in Finland in 1982.  Hugh Marlowe's final episode was in April 1982, but the character probably didn't die untll May or June. (I'm unable to find the character's date of death, only the date of Marlowe's final episode). SInce Jim and Rachel had very little interaction after around 1975, it is unlikely Jim's death in Finland had any connection to Rachel's potential visit, but the choice to have Jim die in that location at that time is a head-scratcher.  I'm sure the writers sent Jim on an extended trip (and off-screen) because of Marlowe's illness.  But Finland seems like a strange choice considering the (then) recently cancelled location shoot.
    • I totally understand your sloths concern about it and I agree with you. Let’s hope the show plays it’s cards right.    Further comments about the last few episodes: - I liked that one of the attendees was filming the scene. That’s realistic. I wonder if the writers will follow up with that.  - Martin and Smitty trying to drag Leslie out was very heteronormative, so perfectly in line with them two as characters lol.    As for the future: it’s obvious the Duprees will come to accept Eva one way or another, but the rivalry with Kay should be here for the long term   On the topic of acting: the only bad actors I’m seeing are Ted and Derek. Tomas hasn’t proven to be either good or bad, so far, but he’s certainly mediocre and uncharismatic. He sucks the energy out of the scenes and I don’t see any couple of women ever vying for him.
    • I’m trying to think which actors VW were working with at the time, and none of them had been there for a while. Even like Mac and Ada didn’t have that big of a part in Rachel’s storyline.  And Jamie was involved with all that movie stuff.
    • Brooke did ads before ATWT too. That probably helped get her the job. After ATWT she seemed to branch more into hosting, along with ads.  I think I saw Kelley in an ad or two, but you're right she wasn't on as much.
    •   Thanks for sharing these. I wonder if Charles might have been in the running for Adam. I know Preacher was a bit of a bad boy at times on EON, but Neal seemed to be a step down, and Robert Lupone had played a similar part on AMC. Given the huge cast turnover at this point I wonder who thought they had been there long enough to go.  Laura Malone/Chris Rich would get a remote within the next year.
