DAYS: August 2024 Discussion Thread

The show has been boring, for DAYS now. I'm amazed that they killed off BobEverett. Connie, I'm sorry but I still remember with horror ABC's "I Wanna Be A Soap Star" experiments. This is more of the same. The person playing Connie is taking up space where an actual actor could be standing. 

Jamey has been on Twi/X braying loudly about his first BDW scene since his return, the next new Xarah wedding. 

The new Gabi with the old Stefan, are doing nothing for me. 

Ava? I love Tamara, but there's just no reason for Ava to be there, and by there I mean anywhere. It's painful to watch. 

Brady & Fiona? Did we specifically ask DAYS for a trainwreck? If so, they seem to have complied. Maybe when we said, "Can we have some nice things?" They said here's a nice female & look, here's a nice male. My God, what will they think of next?!

I actually don't think the actress that plays Connie is bad.  She is given material that is so stupid and so silly I think she's doing what she can.  I think it's very similar to what Kim Coles was given as Nurse Whitley.  It's so bad your only option is enthusiasm and camp.

The Connie stuff is bad. Julie Dove is fine and Remington seems to be having fun as Cardboard cut out Li but the writers are doing this story no favors

Today was a typical Jamey episode. Everything was rushed, everything was a big joke, people acting out of character, historical references, Leo in drag. Hopefully, he followed Ron out the door.

I will say that Xander and Sarah’s wedding was nice, even though it was over and done with in 5 minutes. 

And I am a little interested in what’s going to happen with Tate/Holly now that Tate’s been caught. Too bad my idea for a Sophia/Tate/Holly triangle isn’t happening lol

So Leo is RonC's fictional surrogate?  Personally, I would've chosen a character who is known to be smarter and more well-liked, but I guess the pickings were slim.  At least Alex isn't writing Body & Soul.

Maggie is already a poor foster parent.  Who tells a teen that they won't tell their parents that they broke the rules, within the first week that they're living together?  Come on, Maggie, you have to establish some boundaries!  Otherwise, Holly will be kidnapping babies and taking them to Paris, like your other daughter did (which was ten times worse than what Theresa did to Victoria).

This Hattie stuff is going to be the death of me.  And how does Bonnie of all people not recognize Hattie?  And now a possible Hattie/Leo comedy duo?  It's like something out of my worst nightmare.

And I know it's a Jamey script, but if Leo walked in like a normal person and applied for the writing job I would have actually thought that made sense and lined up with his writing talents. 

Tate/Holly are like the stupidest people on earth.  That's all.

Xander/Sarah probably at least deserved a Friday episode for their wedding lol.

Being about three quarters through today's episode (August 7), I'm really concerned that if Hattie's dress touches Leo's, the two will explode.

An at least temporary reprieve: I'm now at the part where Hattie and Leo did run into each other, but Leo changed into a slightly less radioactive outfit.

There's so much wrong with DAYS these days -- and especially with this episode -- that it's really hard to believe.

The amount of incompetence on the screen is really something. And it took 6+ months more of this before Ron was fired?

Honestly, what we're seeing is an embarrassment to soap opera. Something this bad should not be on the air.

And I just watched the Body & Soul stuff from today's show. Jesus. Kill me now.

Nothing about it is clever or witty or funny. If they aimed at camp, they missed  the entire target. Leo in drag was flat-out awful, and I had the feeling that even Greg Rikaart knew it.

Now that I think about it, that could have been used to keep Theresa on the canvas. Sarah remembers the kidnapping and somehow convinces Xander not to press kidnapping charges against Theresa. Not only could it have caused future conflict for her and Xander but also for Alex and Theresa, especially since they’re still married. 

 

I keep hoping that somebody will speak out about how much they hated one of their storylines, now that Ron is gone. 

I refuse to believe that every actor liked every storyline for 7 and a half years. I wouldn’t believe that even if we were talking about Bill Bell, Agnes Nixon or Douglas Marland.

They’re so good, and hot, together. And it really sucks that we can’t get them full time. I know Christopher Sean has the Netflix show but I wish we could at least get Colton full time

Tate had some good scenes today with both Brady and Andrew. I really don’t know why they’re not using Brady and Theresa’s problems as a way to cause conflict for Tate and Holly. They’re too young to be this perfect and happy together. Those problems should have been the reason why Tate “came back” to Salem. He should be much more angsty over everything that happened and should unintentionally take it out on Holly. And with Sophia still lurking around, who knows what could happen. 

One thing though, I was interested in Sophia questioning why Tate and Holly haven’t had sex yet. That could lead to some good conflict between the two of them. 

As for Jack/Chad, I’m starting to lose interest in their storyline. I hope at least “Abby” made up the story that she told them today, because we don’t another retcon of this already convoluted, all over the place, storyline. 

And yep, I was right. Emily O’Brien just rose up a lot higher on the list of apologies
