PSTD!  Thanks!  I knew he was in Turkey because that's where Sonny 'adopted' random street kid Dev lol.

I think Dustin was Joss's teacher too?  The only reason I even mildly remember Dustin is because he started out as a bit of a day player like FV liked to do with his OLTL buddies sometimes and then he just randomly kept reappearing until I realized he was an actual character on the show.

He seemed like just a regular nice guy.  I guess they dumped Lawson when they fired Rylan.  I am going to assume there was a head writing change during that time, but I am too lazy to look it up.

Very much regular nice guy, although also quite good looking. I literally only know who he is at all because he & Lulu fell in love. I vividly remember them together at her place, out at restaurants & even that fateful night sitting opposite her at a table. He & she are apparently emblazoned upon my brain. I saw so much more of her on GL but it is GH that I remember. Recently some other GL fans have said how much they liked her as Lizzie. I did not. So, I also was not overly fond of her Lulu. Lulu & Lizzie what a resume.

I recently talked to a friend at the studio. 2 weeks ago all glum, no Lulu yet. just the other day, fairly jubilant: We have a maybe Lulu! I asked what a maybe meant. He said everyone is speculating & we cannot talk about names. So, of course I accepted that names were off the table. He did say, though, that it is definitely not Stephanie G. She was out of the running earlier which we also know from Errol. I was excited just to know there's a maybe NuLu.

You're very welcome. Easy enough to share. Also it's not like it's some big deal or even a spoiler.

I know that some of you skipped out on both the Cody & James scene, short though it was, and then also skipped Home & Heart, which we all know should be named Home & Hearth, but whatever.

I just thought I would apprise you of a few things.

Cody gave James a black cowboy hat just like his only in his own size, so he can wear it & actually see what is in front of him.

Now, at Home & Heart immediately Lois faced a crisis. When it was her cue to go on, she froze. A female staffer grabbed her arm & said GO!!! She went. But, no, it wasn't over yet. Who would have ever guessed that Lois would be hit with paralyzing stage fright. Haven just treated her very gently but ureged her to begin by talking about the products! All of a sudeen Lois's mouth worked & then she reached down & picked up the right product & held it up to the camera & yes, she knew which camera to face. After that it was smooth sailing except for the anonymous internet troll on the phone yakking on & on about Lois's accent. Again, Haven showed her true colors by giving the caller a comeuppance. And, I was so proud of Morgan Fairchild, not snippy at all. aven said she was raised to think it was bad manners to blah blah but it was perfect.

I wonder what the issue is with Kelly Monaco? She’s barely used at all anymore, and then misses one of her few appearances, in a pivotal set of scenes.

I will just continue to harp on this until Valentini is gone or the show ends. The way they use contract performers is baffling.

I think I am supposed to feel sympathy for Kristina, but it’s just not there. And a lot of it is how Mansi is playing it.

There is a way to play selfish or even heinous and still win over an audience, or get their sympathy. Judith Light was the gold standard from what I have seen of her as Karen Wolek on OLTL. Maura West pulls it off quite often. Sarah Joy Brown was superb at doing it as Carly. Certainly they all had more time to craft those performances than they have on daytime now, and much stronger writing.

I think Mansi has been great as Kristina. I just don’t think she is doing anything to make Kristina rootable. Which is fine, she doesn’t have to. Kristina is spoiled, she is impulsive, and she can be reckless. That has all been there no matter who plays her. But from the time she decided the baby was her baby, before the accident, they didn’t do her any favors by making it seem she was truly conflicted about what she is doing to Molly and TJ. It wasn’t written well at all. I am relieved that at least this late in the game someone is calling her out, and that Molly is also calling out Alexis.

Yeah I felt Mansi got outshone in the graveyard scenes. She goes for hammy acting choices often and it works in her favor sometimes (Kristina’s crying outburst during the funeral, the freakout over Sonny beating Dex) but it can ring very false in other moments. She didn’t take me out of the graveyard material completely and it all kind of worked if you lean into the idea of Kristina being a selfish drama queen…but Vaganos, NLG and even Rick Hearst & Tahj B with few lines were performing on one level and Kate wasn’t matching them IMO. I wouldn’t have those in my Emmy reel if I’m her.

@titan1978 the comparison to people like SJB and Maura West is a spot on example of what’s lacking in Mansi’s Kristina portrayal for me overall. Those actresses understand how to infuse a layer of complexity and reasoning behind their characters actions in every scene and Mansi isn’t really doing any of that, she’s just playing whats on the page. I’m not gonna begrudge her for that too harshly but I think going a little deeper and maintaining that would help with the likability problem.

Vaganos is officially the best Molly. I am taken with her. Glad they found her.

Mansi is not cutting it for me. But then can you just imagine Lexi trying to keep up in this storyline? That wouldn't have worked at all, so I'm also glad for this recast in that way. Maybe Mansi will go dark and be better. That's her stronger suit.

    • 40 years ago this month, the best and most pivotal television season of the 1980s came to an end. Here’s how the rookie breakout and the four soaps wrapped up the season. The Cosby Show – Cliff’s Birthday (season 1 finale, May 9): Clair and the children surprise Cliff by planning a birthday celebration around a Lena Horne concert. Dallas – Deliverance (May 10): Bobby seeks evidence to free Jenna. The Ewings go confidently to court. Mitch asks Lucy to move in. J.R. wants Sue Ellen hospitalized. Dynasty - The Heiress (May 8): Krystle learns Daniel is dead. King Galen courts Alexis. Amanda sees Michael with Elena. Sammy Jo learns Krystle will handle her money and is furious about the decision. Knots Landing – One Day in a Row (May 9): Ben aids in Karen's search for Val's babies. Mack replies to the governor's offer. Ruth uses Abby to break up Laura and Greg. Falcon Crest – Cold Comfort (May 10): Fugitive Lance desperately searches for Lorraine, who lies comatose in a San Francisco hospital. Robin returns with startling news.   Dallas – Swan Song (season 8 finale, May 17): Jenna's release from jail depresses Pam. Sue Ellen thinks she saw Dusty. Donna tells Ray about her pregnancy. Cliff consults an attorney about an annulment. Lucy and Mitch remarry. Sudden tragedy strikes Bobby. Dynasty – Royal Wedding (season 5 finale, May 15): Sammy Jo makes her roommate look like Krystle. Elena reassures Amanda about her upcoming marriage. Terrorists come for the royal wedding of Prince Michael and Amanda. Falcon Crest – Confessions (May 17): Melissa confesses to framing Lance. Pamela gives Maggie proof that Richard bribed Judge Holder. Connie reveals her love for Chase. Knots Landing – Vulnerable (May 16): Ruth wants Abby to break up Greg and Laura. Karen makes a breakthrough in her hunt for Val's babies. Joshua hampers Val's recovery. Knots Landing – The Long and Winding Road (season 6 finale, May 23): Abby fears being linked to the disappearance of Val's babies. Laura leaves Greg. The Fishers are determined to keep Val's babies. Falcon Crest – The Avenging Angel (season 4 finale, May 24): Lorraine dies. Angela throws a victory party. Cassandra's mother arrives. An explosion rips through Richard's house. 1984/85 was the season the primetime soaps pulled out all the stops to out-do each other and everything culminated in the spring. May 1985 was the zenith of primetime soaps as a genre.

    • Charles Grant first appeared as Evan in September 1988. I was surprised to come across this item from December 1985, almost 3 years earlier: "Lots of action behind the scenes at Another World . . . I have bad news for fans of Christopher Holder (Peter Love). He will be leaving the show in the new year. I have heard that the producers are recasting the part and are also seeing actors for new roles. One of the main characters this spring will be Marlee [sic] and Victoria's father. The producers have been talking to Charles Flohe (John "Preacher" Emerson, Edge Of Night) about another new character to be featured. I will fill you in on the results as soon as I know." It seems obviously too early for anyone to have been planning to introduce Evan Frame. Based on the context he's not being considered as a recast of Peter. Maybe they were considering him for the character that turned out to be Neal, who started around the same time as Marcus Smythe as Peter?
    • Randall Edwards (and Brian Tarantina), with the opening night cast of 1985's Biloxi Blues, plus director Gene Saks and playwright Neil Simon.

    • That was my point really. These anniversary party scenes are the first ones, and now they won't be able to use them (meaning these actual scenes, as aired, with OG Ted). They can recreate them but I doubt they will spring for all the extras to come back and film and recreate everything, so it will be more like tight closed in shots of Ted with one or two other actors, or snippets of Leslie's original speech where Ted wasn't visible. It would be hard to recapture the original energy of the scenes are as they were filmed in their full context. I just think that's too bad, but maybe they will prove me wrong. I never really saw what was so off in his portrayal to warrant a recast, anyway, so that colors my perception as well.
    • Yeah, and quite honestly, are there really that many scenes that are flashback-worthy at this point in the run?
    • I know at one point they were on Hulu & i-Tunes. I just checked it on JustWatch.com & it indicates 1 season on Prime Video & on AppleTV. Have fun! Just looking back at this thread, the recent end of & I have to admit I am surprised that several of you give it such high marks. Now, literally all I know about the modern reboot I learned from Slezak in Linda Dano's podcast & I must tell you I got a very different impression from what she said. If you are interested, those podcast episodes are still up even though Dano is not making any new ones. My impression from what she said was that they had no idea what they were doing & it was no wonder that the project was an abject failure She & many others were owed a ton of money. At the end the mid-level staff came out & basically said, they didn't know what to do, that the people were not here & they guessed it was over. So, as you can imagine I was appalled.
