No ads today! And 44 minutes long too.

Today was good. I liked the Holly/Nicole scene, even though Holly’s bitchiness seemed a little extreme. She did have a point though about wanting to spend her senior year with the friends she has, and with Tate. I wonder if anything interesting is gonna happen as a result of her moving in with Maggie.

Eric/Justin was unexpected, but it was a good scene. I liked the parallel that was drawn between the two of them about getting their sons back. As for Justin’s scene with Alex, it was a long time coming and I’m glad to see them reconcile. It did seem a little biased in favor of RSW though. They really need to realize that he works better as a villain. Btw, maybe I’m just not remembering but wtf does Justin have to be sorry for?

As for Theresa, I liked the closure scene between her and Brady. Even though I still feel like there’s a lot that they can do with her, she really does deserve everything that’s happening to her. I guess I just don’t like seeing another female character be tossed aside because of Ron’s biases. EOB has improved as Theresa, but I still would accept a recast.

I still hope they use Brady falling off the wagon/his relationship or whatever it is with Fiona to drive story. There are so many opportunities that they can take with all these characters and I hope that they do.

I like Fiona so far, even though I agree that Xander's background makes no damn sense.

No one ever pays for anything on this show, so I don't get why everyone is so up-in-arms about Theresa. She forged a letter and kidnapped a baby for 15 minutes. Obviously I don't condone any of it, but why is she more appalling than Xander, who literally laughs in the face of the woman he kidnapped a year ago while being coddled and cooed over by Sarah and Maggie, to whom he's done absolutely unspeakable things?

I'm actually glad that Theresa didn't get instant forgiveness from Maggie, Alex and Brady and they are all still pretty upset at her. However, I'll admit that I was shocked that she is actually going to turn herself into the police and that's the most mature and selfless thing that she's ever done in this entire stint. I just hope Ron doesn't completely screw it up next week at the last minute.

Maybe, just maybe, if Theresa actually goes to prison for a while and pays her dues to society, she could still be somewhat salvaged as a character and she might have a fighting chance of being a viable character again. Even if she and Brady never have a chance in hell of getting back together ever again, maybe if she actually proves that she's truly changed to be a better person, perhaps someday she'll find true, lasting love with a guy that will love her, warts and all.

I prefer this version of Brady over scab-Brady.

Scab-Brady was boring, hypocritical as an agent of virtue for Tate, and poorly used in the business field.  I mean, Brady was hardly a saint at Tate's age.  Remember Belle and the train track incident?

Nu-Brady is consistently amusing in a snarky, not too campy fashion.  He's a bit of a dullard, which is appropriate for a guy in his 40s living with his parents.  And, he is impulsive in love and sex.

This kind of casual sex was what I enjoyed about DAYS right before the strike.  I think it differentiates it from network soaps that tends to moralize sex and punish those with adult needs.  And, I enjoy that everyone in Salem is not baby-crazy.

Also, @carolineg, we got clarification on the will today, which was a good move.  Alex and Maggie each got 50%, and then Maggie split up her 50% amongst the others (except Phillip and Bo who got a trust fund).  Alex is going to have to pay back his portion, which is exactly what I wanted when the letter was first found.

Finally, I know Roman called Kim after the wedding, but I hope someone is going to check in on her more regularly if Theresa winds up in jail.

I can't sing enough praises about Emily O'Brien.  She was wonderful Friday as she was during the wedding revelation.  I don't know if Emily is leaving or not, but I think it would be a shame to lose her.  She's one of the best actresses on the show.

As much as I hate that they left and the circumstances behind their exit, I have to say it was really good and definitely handled with a lot of care and sensitivity. It was a lot better than some other people’s exits. They finally got their happily ever after, I hope.  I was so worried that it was going to be disappointing and honestly, I didn’t think it was. We even got a flashback montage lol And their little scenes Marlena, Abe, Holly, etc. were really nice as well.

That scene totally redeemed Abe for his stupid, completely out of character decision to ask Marlena and Kayla to join Body and Soul. Did he seriously think  that he could get two doctors, who are so busy they can’t even attend family weddings, to quit their jobs and become soap stars? That was really stupid and the last thing that Abe Carver is, is stupid.

The Donovan’s were really nice too. Andrew is such a great big brother He really needs to be a full time character.

Idk if is this is Theresa’s exit because it didn’t feel like it, but if it was, I gotta say it was still better than that disgusting, completely biased exit that Gwen got. And her phone call with Tate was really nice as well. Hopefully, they can use this to cause problems for Tate and Holly. Tate’s become too much like the stereotypical, young hero lately and he really should be messier, especially now that he’s knows what his mother did.

So it looks like Theresa really is going to prison. I highly doubt Andrew is going to be able to get her off those legal charges, especially since I don't see E.J. giving her a plea deal, so the best thing he might be able to do is to have her serve her prison sentence in California. Also I don't think she's going to spend as much time in prison as people think she should; if she does actually go to prison, she might end up staying there for at least five years.

Also, what was the point of that anecdote that Andrew mentioned to Theresa about him crashing his dad's car and her taking the blame for it? And after all of that, Theresa is just going to let Tate date Holly now? Wow, talk about sucking out all the drama there... Ron really was burnt out, wasn't he?

    • It really made Oscar the Doorman seem like an imbecile.   I think the show's unusual format & subject manner is what makes EON often seem less "dated" and "old-fashioned" than other shows from that time period.  It never attempted to be especially "trendy" or "modern" -- and its film noir style is pretty timeless.
    • Dallas, Dynasty, Knots and Falcon Crest all had good runs but by 85 they had seen better days. I think they were a victim of the format. After several seasons seeing the same characters front and center viewers were bored. What was once fascinating grew predictable. JR, Alexis etc had to be front and center and after a while their schemes and shtick grew repetitive. JR remarrying Sue Ellen, Alexis constantly trying to get he better of Blake etc Unlike daytime, there wasn't the flexibility to bring in other stories and characters and maybe let the likes JR go backburner. That same mentality also invaded daytime with characters like  Sonny and Victor still peddling the same stuff after decades. I guess the same could be said for MSW eg every week Jessica encounters a crime and solves it,but I think viewers come to that format with a different mindset.
    • Daphnee and Trisha did a live stream on Instagram and confirmed they find out if the show gets picked up in May. This pretty much confirms they're on the primetime schedule like the Bell soaps. Fingers crossed we get a multi-year renewal announcement soon!  https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJSsYb7PDv8/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
    • I don't think Lois the character was there.  The Lois we knew from the 90s has pretty much died with this  Gio story crap.
    • Have to agree re MM. The goody two shoes character and writing doesn't help but maybe a more dynamic actor would help Brandon lift his game also. I found the song sequence a little OTT. First of all it should have been shorter and maybe the song fades out and just some music to accompany the montage. I think it would have worked better if Anita had have been alone after everyone left and started tinkling leading into the song, with Vernon coming in observing and then joining her for  a close moment. Everyone standing around felt a little too much. And that closing effect with the two blackscreens meeting was unnecessary. Just a fade out would have been enough.

    • And sadly I think that’s the trivia Both Jeanne Cooper and Eric Braeden went with for years and years. Lol
    • But people were hating so bad on amc and the final year and the ratings sucked. Business wise they made the right call. Oltl who even gained some ratings back and weren’t they higher as GH at one point is a decision and never understood.
    • Ann Williams was the first Maggie Powers on The Doctors but left to have a baby. Maggie was successfully recast so Ann picked up the role of Eunice (Jo's sister on Search for Tomorrow) and played that role for 10 years before being killed of in 1976. That led to her role of Margo on EON.
    • Looking at those totals it seems most contract actors are on a 1 or 2 week average guarantee. I assume contracts are still operating on 13 week cycles so you would have to know the particular actors contract starting date to work out their guarantee. The question remains as to what actors listed as contract are actually recurring? Bryton ?
