The only time Kayla is really used by the current writers is being at the hospital otherwise she is off screen and I never really understand why because Kayla could be having scenes with both jada and Stephanie on the show and the current scripts go through Ron because headwriter not Janet Drucker she is only Executive producer on the show

nuTate isn't a bad actor. He just isn't Tate.

He's too old for the role -- or, I should say, for the writing. DAYS failed this actor by not SORASing the character. I don't think there's a way for ANY actor to make this stuff work.

I feel like the emphasis even with the Romeo & Juliet angle is off. People should be mad at Holly for taking the drugs in the first place, not for "lying and getting Tate locked up" -- she was in a coma for 95% of the time he was in trouble for that incident, and it was like 3 days after she woke up that she came out with the truth. She woke up completely disoriented, found out she'd been in a coma (and overseas and back!) for months, then panicked for a pretty short period of time before she told the truth. Yeah, she should've spoken up the minute she realized what had happened, but it's not like she deviously let it go on for months longer.

I kind of wish that the source of Tate & Holly's conflict was Tate's hatred of EJ for locking him up.  He could be encouraging Brady to fight with EJ.  He could've been part of the plot to expose Eric as Jude's father.  And, plant stories with Leo to undermine EJ in order to keep him from publishing gossip about their clandestine kisses.  Meanwhile, Holly would feel some allegiance to EJ because he makes her mother happy, and provides a stable home for her, so that could more naturally cause conflict.

The Theresa hatred of Holly feels like punching down.  It's giving less protective mother, and more jealous nincompoop.  Especially given that they rarely shared enough screen time for Theresa to express her feelings toward Holly.

The thing that I am most interested in is how they are going to find an excuse for Holly to stay in Salem, if Nicole leaves with Jude.  Because saying that she should spend her senior year at Salem HS makes no sense if Holly spent 2/3s of her junior year in a coma.

I think Theresa vs Holly works in the sense that it's less about their actual interaction and more about Theresa seeing Holly as too similar to her younger self and not wanting her own son to be subjected to a girl like that.

I do think some of the conflict should be coming from the couple themselves (like with Tate having it out for EJ, for example) rather than completely external, though. But it feels like this has been a few different short stories stitched together without clear transitions.

Well, to illustrate how dissatisfied I am right now with DAYS ... I completely forgot to watch one day last week! Geeze.

But, I've always found Johnny & Chanel boring. I came to find Paulina & Abe boring. Holly has turned into a pretty simplistic brat if you ask me. I quite liked Original Recipe Tate but don't at all like NuTate! I don't dislike NuGabi but I also don't feel attached. Brady's plan to ship Tate off to a sports camp seems so somehow aggressive. Meanwhile Tate & Holly's plan for him to hide out in plain sight locally is totally nuts.

I ought to be excited about the Baby Jude reveal and I'm just not. It's somehow ... flat. Maybe Nicole telling Eric Monday will turn the screw.

I'm getting clips together to celebrate the Hayeses next week. I've got their first wedding, awful quality. Their second wedding, great & Brenda Benet is in it & she & Doug have this great fight before the ceremony. This is my favorite

You have to restart the device you use then it comes up for today's episode

After today's episode with all of the Connie stuff and how she mentioned Gabi and Melinda and them needing to be dealt with I'm preparing for Melinda's death by Connie killing her

I don't know what it is, but CB's version of Gabi always came off as whiny and at times unserious. Watched Friday's episode I did not see that, it was like watching a different version of Gabi, one thats better IMO. I approve of this recast.

I think you're making Ron's writing more than one dimensional here, and you know he doesn't do that. I love the idea of Tate being pulled into the Jude paternity reveal, because at the moment the story feels so isolated compared the rest of the show.

I know that part of the reason I miss Camila is familiarity. Known her since she was a teen. But, we know that familiarity, comfortableness, is a big deal to soap fans.

And, I am of the opinion that both Camila & Lindsay left because of that arsehole so I resent their being gone.

Since @AbcNbc247 missed the show this am as it appeared to upload late I will let you guys know it's a good episode.  I had no problem loading the episode on Peacock.  No need to restart your device or anything.

The bad-

Jada/Bobby.  Blah, blah, blah.  He overheard crazy lady Connie? say she killed Li to herself on a park bench.  He did not tell Jada the entire truth yet.  Still just giving bits and pieces of the story so Jada will come back.

The meh-

Li Shin returns!  To play out how he died and be an imaginary character in crazy lady's head.  This is at least as stupid as Gil killing him randomly.  Now just he randomly got killed by a bit player stalker.

The reason to watch-

The entire denouement of the baby story.  Gabi blurts out the truth, Nicole finds out, etc. etc.  Cliffhanger is Nicole/Eric.

It's pretty much the climax of the baby story today, so if you care I would go ahead and watch.

    • A new day in Salem… and a new day for Days.  I like the way everybody found out and absorbed the news about John’s death, and how they all eventually found their way to Marlena’s to offer their condolences. I’m not particularly sure why they waited until the next day to tell everybody but I don’t really mind it.  We finally got Roman’s perspective! His scenes with Kayla were one of the best parts of today. I’m glad that Roman is thankful for everything that John did for his kids. I agree with posters who said that he should’ve had a scene like this with John, but I’m happy we got this at least.  Julie was used very well today too. She’s definitely the best person for Marlena to have scenes with at the moment. Hopefully, Julie continues to be there for her. And yes, I totally agree with Marlena and Belle sending EJ away when he came to the apartment. I’m curious to see what’s going to happen to his and Belle’s relationship in the aftermath of all this. And, while I enjoyed most of Brady and Kristen’s scenes, I still think the ship has sailed for them. Hopefully, the aftermath of John’s death causes Brady to finally end this thing with her once and for all.  And, I see a lot of people were wearing some kind of shade of purple today.

    • Wow, I love that current and former actors are participating in this. I barely recognize Staci Greason! She looks fine, just very different. But I will be happy to hear anecdotes from her. I shipped RoJohn and Isabella hard back in the day, and I sobbed buckets in my dorm room at college when Izzy B passed. Honestly, I'm interested in everyone's stories. Drake seemed like he was well loved among the cast.
    • When she first appeared, I was sure she was setting Tyrell up for a prank. She was too much of a manic pixie dream girl- I wasn't surprised Tyrell also became suspicious. Now I'm not so sure. If Jessica genuinely likes Tyrell, it seems like a missed opportunity to not have started her out as a bully, then we see her gradually catch feelings for Tyrell.  The McBrides are definitely the "C" family of BTG. They always get last priority. There have been a few times where the Doug/Vanessa/Joey characters reference off screen conversations which seem too important to not show us. Like when Doug thanked Joey for giving him extra time to pay off the loan. When did that happen? Or when we abruptly moved from Vanessa/Joey at Uptown to Vanessa/Doug in the hotel room. The McBrides don't even have their own set - even though Vanessa is a realtor. It's a shame because I am a fan of the characters and actors.

I am also adjusting to KR as Ted but I feel that AM and MJ had way more chemistry as father and daughter than AM and KR. We saw Eva dream of having a real relationship with MJ's version of Ted for months so it's a bit of a bummer not to have that payoff with the original actor except for those scenes in MJ's last episode.  Something I noticed about Eva today is how she takes genuine delight in being a schemer. As badly as she wants to be a Richardson, she still has so much of her mom in her. It was jarring seeing her earnestly promise to steer clear of Leslie in her scene with Ted, then immediately switch attitudes when her mom showed up.  I'm very surprised with how quickly the accident story has been moving along. I was sure that it would be months if not years before people figured out it was Leslie on the motorcycle, not to mention responsible for the potassium overdose. I'm looking forward to seeing how MVJ and Guza avoid writing Leslie into a corner.  Finally, I have been loving the Articulettes story. Bonita Brisker was just the right amount of OTT - remember Sharon is supposed to be even more angry than Tracy is. If Sharon didn't come in swinging, people would say she fell flat. The way Sharon and Tracy describe the breakup is so Supremes-meet-Original Recipe Destiny's Child. I get the sense that MVJ is re-writing the Return to Love Tour as a roman a clef, and I love it. I'm looking forward to finding out what the secret they share is. If Dante Green is as shady as Berry Gordy was, it's something dark. If/when they go through with the reunion, I expect Dante to show up and claim to own the Articulettes trademark in a Lou Pearlman-esque twist.
    • Other than hanging out with Liz, all of Lucky's stories have been stalled out or dropped; the relationship with his son; his wanderlust. He hasn't been involved in any of the action/adventure or con artist stuff. I don't think he's even had a scene with Sidwell since the latter came to town. He's a real after thought. I doubt he's long for the show.

    • I started a separate thread for the same tribute, but of course it can be discussed wherever. doesn't matter where. Fyi  Jason Cook, Staci Greason, and Eileen Davidson will be there as well as Reckell and some of the current cast Thread for Live tribute to Drake https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/68987-days-currentformer-actors-live-video-tribute-for-drake-hogestyn
    • Seeing Nicole and Martin together reminds me of watching Alice with Mickey Horton in the 90s and 00s. The seem more like peers than mother and son.  The younger half of the cast (35ish and below) is playing younger, and the older half (35+) is playing older.
