*waves to Ms.Q

I think the SOD awards are no longer televised but SOD should have a ballot out in one of the November issues I think.

They just post the winners in January I think...I *guess* they still get a statue if they win.

Guess it got to be too expensive to televise.

About the SOD blurb re: thumbs up Tracy/Lulu: I looked at it at the store and it basically just reviews the scenes with Tracy confronting Lulu over her lie...saying they(the mag) thought they were two disparate women(I've never thought they were that different) but found out they really aren't that they may have more in common than first thought and won't Luke be surprised.

And that Tracy gave "maternal" advice to Lulu about Dillon,etc,etc....it's a very short blurb.

On the Next General Hospital:

<Tracy approaches Corinthos Manor>

TRACY: I suppose you're wondering why I'm here?

SONNY: <puts out big sign that says "The Doctor is REALLY In!"> No, Tracy, I have you penciled in for my three o'clock.

TRACY: <lying down on couch while Sonny takes out a pad and pencil for notes> So, I'm at the house the other day, and I just start to feel like I'm invisible. Like I'm just a prop in somebody else's drama.

SONNY: Uh-huhh.....

TRACY: I used to be somebody. I used to destroy wives....erm, LIVES. And now--I'm comic relief in my own life.

SONNY: And how does that make you feel?

TRACY: Um...bad?

SONNY: I think we're coming to a break through. Hold that thought. <Sonny gets out of his chair, crosses the room to where Carly is standing, kisses her passionately. Pulls out a gun, fires a shot at a mobster who is lurking in the shadows, goes to another corner of the room where Emily has appeared, kisses her passionately, pushes her away to jump through the window and save a man from drowning in a pool that just showed up, only to see Lainey there, kiss her passionately, returns to the house to give a gasping Alexis verrrryyy slowwww mouth-to-mouth resuscitation after rescuing a kitten from a tree, shoots another gangsta, teaches Michael long-division, then returns to the chair.> So, where were we, Tracy?

TRACY: <without missing a beat> I just sometimes feel I'm not as important in the grand sceme of things anymore...

Yeah, I figured that about SOD. They weren't televised the last 2 years, I believe. I just couldn't figure out how I wanted to word it, so I asked when they took place instead of when the ballots came out. Anyway...GH seems to do pretty well with those awards. Even if they don't mean much, it'd be nice to see JE win again. Winning Best Supporting Actress as she has in the past would be better, but her screentime hardly warrants "supporting" status.

ILoveTracyQ, thanks for the Tracy/Lulu "Thumbs Up" summary.

MinervaFan, I am laughing out loud here. The part where Sonny goes off and rescues everyone? ROTF! Have you thought about writing more of those kind of things and posting them on FF.net? *hint hint*

Keith, read and left ya a comment at LJ. LOVED it!

Ooooh---forgot the last part of the scene:

TRACY: Oh, Sonny--what do you think I do to get my life back on track, to make myself matter, to be the woman I know I can be?

SONNY: Wanna make out?

TRACY: I thought you'd never ask.

<They make out on the couch.>

TQ is on today. If I wasn't so d*mn exhausted, I'd be dancing around the LoveFest Pole with ILTQ. As it is--

*grabs pinwheel and holds it up to the breeze*

Whee!

Although I have to admit, the previews for today's show didn't have me feeling too positive about how they're going to show TQ during this SL.... Oh, and I woke up at six this morning and my TV was on. Fey's mom had gotten up in the middle of the night to lie on the couch and had turned it on, (disabling my timer recording). I'm telling you right now, if somebody screws up my recording after WEEKS of waiting for a significant TQ episode, there will be a MASS of hurt going around this place tonight.

MinervaFan butting my nose in here but .....do you have time at lunch to come home and check that the VCR is still set?

Or is there someone there during the day that can check it for you?

Do you have a friend you trust to tape it for you as a backup?

Any friends with SoapNet?

If none of those are an option....save up and buy yourself your own little TV for your bedroom and your own little VCR.

Of course acts of nature notwithstanding(you know...the freak storm that cuts off the power) that's actually the best solution.

Who pays for the cable in your house?

Would they be willing to trade a bill with you if you paid for the cable? Most cable companies offer SoapNet cheap.

I have the cheapest possible cable package you can get. It's digital cable(I only bothered specifically because of TQ being back...otherwise I probably wouldn't even have it) and it's the basic plan....used to be 24.99 now is 29.99 plus tax.

Just a suggestion for a solution.....I remember back in the day...late eighties early nineties....when my parent's VCR would fail and I'd miss GH that day....if I knew Tracy was supposed to be on I'd freak.

Of course I also taped every day back then not for sure when she'd be on....and I had to FFWd thru a lot of junk. LOL

I didn't see the previews so I don't know....I expect them to villainize Tracy....partly because it's part of her nature....partly because she's a Q so she's an automatic scapegoat.

But I am withholding final judgement until I watch.

Anyone watching live......recaps/details of our girl's scenes will net you a snack of your choice from our breakroom...provided by *moi*.

ILTQ, those suggestions are all good. We are already paying the cable bill for the house, but cannot afford the extra it would take for SoapNet. I cannot go home at lunch, because Fey and her mom have my car on Mondays-Wednesdays-Fridays to get her to school. (Fey's mom's car was totalled, and she hasn't gotten it replaced yet.) I set the timer at night, then check it before I leave in the morning. On Tues-Thurs, I go home for lunch. But basically, it's a matter of respect. There are times where people will turn it on to watch the news at lunch, not realize it's on timer, and not put it back on. No amount of yelling or fighting will change that. We are planning to move out in January/February if at all humanly possible. Until then, I breathe in, breathe out.

Before I left this morning, I told Fey's mom that it was the first TQ episode in weeks, and if I didn't get it on tape, I would probably have a fit. This, coming on the screaming fit I threw last night (totally non-TQ related, but very very serious--I'm not a screamer by nature...), seemed to hit home. She promised she wouldn't touch it. Now, if we can just house-trained the EFFING Rednecks....

Back on topic, yeah, it does look like they plan on villainizing TQ in this situation. Saddens me to see it, but I'm willing to bet that's what's going to happen.

Oh, well....at least she's on. *rolleyes* Isn't Guza planning on retiring? Hopefully in the next 10 minutes?

MinervaFan I apologize for butting my nose in and all. LOL

I just wondered. :)

I tell you what...until you move out or the situation changes some other way....if you DO miss a show..let us know on here and I'll tape that show for you...PM me your mailing address and I'll be glad to send you a copy of the show.

SN repeats GH shows several times for each episode and it's not a problem.

Same for anyone else that wants me to do it.

And yeah....EvilTracy is a Guza staple...and like I said I didn't see the previews....but I'm withholding judgement.

Jane has a way of *still* giving TRacy layers even when the writing doesn't.

    • I keep forgetting a huge chunk of that year was written by scabs. You're probably right, because by the time the strike was over, they were likely planning an exit for Alan's character as it must have been obvious by then that Bernau was not going to return. If he was still there, it's also doubtful they would have approached MZ and MG about coming back. Wild.
    • And to think the original plan was for David and Lesley to have an affair.  Not only would that have made no sense - Lesley wasn't THAT stupid, lol - but it also would've ruined her and GH.

    • Week ending March 5 1978 Second season shows are tested CBS finishes first week in March with stronger than usual 1 9.5, but not enough to beat ABC The prime -time ratings pattern continued to hold steady for the week ended March 5, and attention increasingly turns to second season entries as the networks probe one another's weaknesses or cover their own. As usual, ABC -TV won the week, scoring a 20.5 average rating. But CBS -TV was closer than usual with a 19.5 average garnered with the help of several strong specials and movies in addition to some of its dependable series regulars. NBC followed its habit of plummeting when its "évent "entries failed. In this case it was the miniseries, Loose Change, which scored only 24 and 22 shares on Monday and Tuesday, leaving the network with a 16.9 average rating for the week. Looking at new series and new time slots, ABC's Six Million Dollar Man on Monday (8 -9 p.m. NYT) continued to falter with a 22 share, while What's Happening, in its new slot on Saturday (8 -9 p.m.), also remained shaky with a 23 share. Starsky and Hutch is still healthy with a 38 share in its new slot following Charlie's Angels on Wednesday, and How the West Was Won also had a 38 on Sunday (8 -9 p.m.). Against West CBS's Rhoda and On Our Own came in poorly for the second week in a row of face to face competition, with each pulling 25 shares after a 41 share lead in from 60 Minutes. ABC's special two -hour presentation of the upcoming series tryout, Having Babies, scored a 27 share on Friday (9 -11 p.m.) against strong competition from both the other networks (the movie "Ski Lift to Death" on CBS and Rockford Files and Quincy on NBC). For CBS, its new Monday night leadoffs, Good Times and Baby I'm Back, scored so -so 27 and 28 shares respectively. But the second half of the night had its best performance since the new line -up came in- M *A*S *Hwith a 45, One Day at a Time with a 41 and Lou Grant with a 36. Celebrity Challenge of the Sexes and Shields and Yarnell showed no signs of reviving on Tuesday, with 16 shares each, but the new Tuesday movie slot held up with a 41 share from Clint Eastwood's "Magnum Force." The network's entire Saturday line up continued to limp in, as Bob Newhart Tony Randall, The Jeffersons, Maude and Kojak all scored sub 30 shares (with the exception of Newhart's 29, in fact, all scored sub -25 shares). NBC premiered its new Chuck Barris Rah Rah Show on Tuesday (8 -9 p.m.),when it pulled a 24 share. The second episode of Quark had a 27, three points down from its premiere. There might be the temptation to conclude that the 29 share turned in by the National Love, Sex and Marriage Test on Sunday (9:30 -10 p.m.) proves the appetite for "sophisticated" subject matter is not insatiable after all, except that its competition was not only CBS's strong comedy block but also ABC's rerun of "The Way We Were," which pulled a 35 share. Of NBC's other midseason entries -CPO Sharkey, Black Sheep Squadron, James at 16 and Class of '65 -CPO Sharkey turned in the highest score of the week, a 27.   *NBC were in dire straits at this point relying on movies and specials which could hit or bomb in equal measure.  Fred Silverman had his work cut out for him when he arrived that Summer. He favored sitcoms and series as the schedule's foundation and NBC had no sitcoms to build on and few solid series. He also had a big backlog of specials/mini series that had been committed to air. Also NBC had a long standing relationship with Universal so he was forced to work with that studio. He struggled to get quality producers on board as they were either tied into deals with ABC/CBS or were wary of having their shows on the 3rd rated network. He still felt variety had a place on the schedule however and that lead to duds like Susan Anton, The Big Show and Pink Lady and Jeff.

    • I spent years hoping we would get an oral history like the OLTL book, but it’s too late now with so many having passed away.
    • It’s also strange that it was Monica! I just don’t think of her as the staring off into space type of woman! I watched a bunch of other clips and stuff from random 1978 and 1979 episodes. I’m so used to seeing movement from Monty’s era, especially the early part, that this really is a cool relic. Pretty soon you have scenes start at the new nurses station, the elevators opening and doctors walking to the desk to get their messages from Jessie or Bobbie. People often walk towards doors while taking coats on or off, many Webber house scenes start or end with someone walking up the stairs. This episode is even more static than some of the way earlier ones I have seen, where you would have Steve or Jessie at least going from the old school nurses desk to the medicine room, Steve’s office, etc. That bland dialogue is very much like what they have now. The show picks up a lot of personality. Knowing what we know about David Hamilton and how that really started to get the ball rolling as far as viewers you really see just how vital Lesley and especially Laura were to get things moving for them. They focused on the right characters to get fast results. The show now could learn a thing or two from this.
    • It won't allow me to watch it via the link; I am only able to watch it with the app.
    • Just finished the Goldfinch. Read it in 4-5 days... and it's a huuuuge book. Well... I would rate the first 500 pages a solid 10 out of 10... but then the next 300 were kind of a letdown... so the overall impression is something like - 7/10. It's just very hard to give something a full 10 after reading A little life.  Still... loved it immensely and would probably re-read it in the future. There is a movie adaptation... starring Nicole Kidman... that I haven't seen.
    • I realize I harp on this, but I think he spending is relevant.  She's not just buying new wigs. She's building a mansion, she's funding a sports complex, she's paying for operations for people she doesn't know, she's caring for Peaches, she's buying apartments. We saw ?her get ONE check for ONE million dollars. That's it. I may be wrong, but I thought they said she'd get a payment every 6 months. Regardless, she could not rule the roost on $1M, and the show is not doing a good job there. Pretending that doesn't matter? I can't do that.  All they had to do was add a couple lines about payouts and payments.  In other news, I would love to know just how much Anita was putting into that trust as well as what investment got her what has to be an incredible return.
