Gwen is as unnecessary as they come. But with this shitshow, I have no doubt that, besides Leo, she will somehow worm her way into the story line with Mystery Woman. Even as a good portion of the audience never really accepted Gwen as a Deveraux.

But with Ron at the helm, it's about what he likes, not the audience.

I claim no insider info, but here's my prediction.

It is a perfect setup for Gwen.

Xander's Mom exposes Theresa, and she gets out of Salem, just as Gwen hears that her sister is back in town

Jack and Jennifer instantly accept this new Abby.  Abby goes back to her old life in the mansion with Chad and the kids. Although everyone will think she's back to suffering from DID due to the trauma, which is why she forgets certain details about her old life.  Leaving Gwen angry and jealous.  So, she investigates, and figures out that she's a fraud  (aka Mark Greene's sister).  She exposes her, winning the gratitude and affection of Jack and Chad.

Along the way, Mark and Leo fall in love, and Chad begins to respect Gwen's work at the paper.  Abby's fake DID will also affect Everett's treatment.   I assume that they'll take a page out of AMC's Laurel and say the motive for fake Abby was to pay for the care for her sister with a congenital disorder.

BTW, if I've just accurately predicted the next year's worth of story, I'm going to be quite proud of myself.

P.S. Chanel's going to lose the baby, which will keep them in town.  She'll employ Mark's sister at the bakery and start an employment program for people with disabilities.  Johnny will make a documentary about the program, and that will give him something to do.

Dr. Mark Greene? Really, Ron?

This surprises you?  He wrote out Sloan Peterson, so the next week he wrote in Dr. Mark Greene.

I just read in SOD that Harris leaves to go chase after Megan.  Why don't they just kill people off in Salem?

OK, as I wrote that I realized that it might be because people don't stay dead on DOOL

But, I feel like if Ava had shot Harris while aiming at Clyde, that would've driven story for her and intensified her hatred of Clyde.  One doubts that Burton will return to DOOL, unless he's doing charity work, so just let Harris die. I am not in favor of loose strings.

Sad. But at least Johnny and Chanel will finally have a storyline.

She and Stefan are definitely splitting up. They have zero chemistry. I think that's why they had Stefan sleep with Ava.

That's pretty much the only reason why Ava's still on the canvas, unless they pair her with Stefan once Gabi finds out.

Cherie (the new Gabi) seems pretty nice, I've been following her on instagram for months.  I haven't seen her acting reels but I think (or hope) she'll do well in the role.

(usual disclaimer that I realize I cannot know who anyone is from their instagram persona)

Nü Gabi is already an amazing improvement... but I still don't see the need for the role.

Separate thread for those who don't want to see non-weekly spoilers.

It continues to be an odd choice that the Hernandez family are not cast with Latino actors.  Galen Gering and Lindsey Hartley are of Jewish descent. Cherie Jimenez is Sicilian/Italian, and Puerto Rican.  And Jordi Vilasuso is Cuban.

Some will argue that casting should be blind, or that some of the actors are Hispanic.  But you'd have to admit it is a remarkable coincidence that they could not find one culturally Latino actor in Los Angeles.
