There is already so much negativity and despair to go around. Why can't we all just enjoy and celebrate that we have a new daytime soap after 25 years??? I am not going to let anyone steal my joy as I eagerly await the glorious beginning of Beyond The Gates.

Not to add any negativity: I’m super glad that BTG looks to be getting off the ground, but we call them TIIC (the idiots in charge) for a reason. I’m sure they did their due diligence and plan to support this well, but we’ve been burned many times by well-meaning executives, especially on CBS Daytime. They appear to be making moves to improve Y&R but that show had been languishing and the moves they’re making now (bringing back Ed Scott to make that raggedy soap look polished) feel reactive and overdue. And elevating Carter out of nowhere on B&B is laughably transparent. I hope with so many entities operating with their own agendas (CBS, P&G, NAACP) there aren’t too many cooks in the kitchen.

I’m sure MVJ has thick skin over her 73 years on this planet, is focused on the right things, and can ignore the peanut gallery. I want an engaging show first and foremost, and it appears she’s put together a solid team of BTS people with different skill sets. Tamara Tunie and Clifton Davis are spectacular, attractive, experienced leads.

I’m being very cautiously optimistic, if only to avoid a letdown. The industry is really unsettled right now.

I've always said, until they give me a reason to be nervous, I'm staying positive. We can't control the election or what CBS decides to do. All I can focus on is the show being good and hopefully gaining an audience. If it has an audience I doubt they will dump it or do anything to try and whiten the show up. That's going to be the biggest test, the numbers.

I don't think the election changes CBS' stance on the series; they knew there was a chance of who would win the election, and they know their daytime demographics, so I'm not concerned.

It's also worth remembering that all soaps will just take a life of their own and deviate from their bible for numerous factors, least of all with how the cast gels, who the break out character / performer(s) are, where the unexpected chemistry between actors take you and so on. It's sort of why I've been thinking about the politician angle, how it will work on the show in the long run and why it might end up fading for reasons not relating to any nervousness of political hot button issues (which can be dealt with either way).

A reminder that if CBS follows the last two years, they will announce their midseason schedule next week. Of course with it being an election year I'm not sure if that changes anything although in 2020 they released it on November 11th so that probably won't have an impact.

If this is the case, we should be learning when Beyond the Gates will premiere.

She posted that & one other thing yesterday. The other thing, she misses her cat. I guess Bella is in CA while Michele is in GA.

She speaks of cliffhangers after a few months? Bless her heart. There needs to be cliffhangers in that first week. Seriously!

I don't think that's what she meant, Vanguard. Pretty sure she meant talking about cliffhangers, based on the first-week of filming alone. That the first week already has cliffhangers, and cannot wait for them to be talked about.
