Kind of like what EastEnders did with Pat in its first year. Just don't hire him, Michele.. I think focusing on the core cast for the first few months is probably wise, but since some characters might not end up working out (as is typical with new soaps) having "back up" options out there in the world... beyond Beyond the Gates is a good idea in itself. He actually is a good writer when he doesn’t let his biases write for him. I just hope somebody keeps an eye on him because I’m already starting to have concerns about the way he’ll write the character of Smitty (Mike Manning’s character) And as much I would love for Jamey to be off of Days, keep him away from Beyond the Gates!!
