ARTICLE: Common Officially Confirms Relationship Status on ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show’, Revealing He’s Dating Talk Show Host

On the Monday, January 22 episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” hip hop legend Common (real name Lonnie Rashid Lynn) appeared in an episode that also saw host Jennifer Hudson trying her hand at rapping.

In addition to talking about their mutual Chicago roots and what they look for in a romantic relationship, Common revealed that he and Hudson are officially dating as the “And Then We Rise” author opened up about their relationship and how he found his “Happy Place.”

Answering “yes” when asked if he was dating somebody by Hudson, Common noted, “I’m in a relationship that is [with] one of the most beautiful people I ever met in life. She’s smart, she loves God, she has something real down to earth about her.” He added more specific details, including “She’s talented… I set my standard kind of high because she’s got to have an EGOT [Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony]; she had to win an Oscar for her first movie. I set my standard high, she got to have her own talk show.”

Before formally announcing Hudson is the one he was referring to, Common opted to ask the talk show host about her own love life, to which she responded by saying, “I am dating as well, and I am very happy.”

Again, putting it back on Common, Hudson asked the performer if he was happy in his relationship, to which he responded, saying, “This relationship is a happy place for me. For me, it’s one of those things where I found where I can see her happy actually makes me really happy, so I’m very grateful. I thank God each and every day and I’m just letting God guide this relationship.”

Also in the episode, Common and Jennifer recall attending the Usher concert together, retelling how Usher approached a coy Jennifer to serenade her, and Common tells Jennifer he wanted her to have the “best time.”  Common then tells Jennifer why he chose to wear the color yellow on her show and presents Jennifer with a gift while offering to help train her for the NBA All-Star Game!

Later this week, Jennifer welcomes to the show ​​Emmy Award-nominated actor Anthony Anderson, famous mother-daughter icons Paris and Kathy Hilton, “America’s Got Talent” judge Mel B and the legendary Snoop Dogg.
