It's funny. Here we are celebrating the longest scripted show in television history, 60 years for GH, and it was almost canceled 3 separate times! In 1979 & Douglas Marland & Gloria Monty saved it. In 2012 when Brian Frons announced the cancelations of AMC & OLTL he was all set to cancel all 3, the whole ABC soap line-up & he didn't because he was fond of Jill & of Guza. In 2014 when Frank & Ron saved the show & part of that was by keeping the veterans & using them in story that made sense for their characters!

There wasn't much mention of Audry, but they showed quite a bit of Steve. I was like "HELL YEAH" when Becky said her character is the grand daughter of Steve

I'm shocked they didn't show BJ's heart ,no mention of Tony Jones or Kevin and Lucy. They left out A LOT

No mention of Lucy and her work with AIDS or Robin etc

I guess TPTB wanted to pimp the current pod-incarnation of the show, more than celebrate its extensive and rich history. That makes sense from a commercial standpoint, perhaps, but it's not emotionally satisfying to long-time fans.

It did better ratings than the show does LMAO

Even The Bachelor flopped IMO. The numbers were lower than during the season.

The show tied Dateline in Total Viewers with 2.45 million viewers. Not sure why whichever site you're quoting (link maybe?) has it at 2.55 million.

That said, yes, it did better than the show itself. Which hopefully proves a point to the network. In fact, if I'm not mistaken,  it outrated the Story of Soaps but was below the Y&R 50 special which had a more friendly time slot, airing on a Monday at 8:00 p.m.

So it did worse? 2.45?😂

They still would rank last with YR and BB with the Prime time special.

I know you expected better numbers?

What point is it that you hope they take away?

I don't know, Errol, my two big takeaways are that they need to appreciate the fans, all of the fans, all the time, everywhere. And, #2 that nothing is more important than show history. But, that's just me.

Or...that the audiences still are out there and still want their stories and entertainment; and that maybe the way to make daytime TV relevant again is to promote the soaps again and not just drop them for yet another hour of "Today" or "Good Morning America."

What I meant was that GH is still a viable show and deserves more recognition from the network for its accomplishments. No, not that it should move to primetime, but now it shows that it can do better than certain primetime shows even in primetime, ironically.

Oh, snap! Point of view! I was thinking too locally, what the show should be thinking. YES, by God, it is an example to ABC & to Disney that their soap is worth more than they have realized. Good point, Errol.
