Let’s Go!!!! I hope one of the first things Janet does is help bring in some help for the cast and crews mental health. Dealing with abuse and toxicity like this can be very devastating to one’s mental health. Just help bring back some trust to the studio and reach out to past cast members who left or were fired because of that jerk. Unfortunately we the fans have to wait until all of the episodes and SLs Alarr influenced plays out until Janet’s influence comes through. But if the cast and crew can work hard together with Janet and bright back the light and freshness to the show it will be well worth the wait.

To be fair, the other person they named might not have wanted to take in reigns after the Alarr mess, plus might not have the pull with not only the on-set cast/crew and but the other backstage people. Janet Spellman-Drucker seems like a good choice since she's been with the show for so long. I look forward to seeing what she can bring on air.

WGA has listed any writers who went fi-core. She was not one of them. I wasn't suggesting she was out of a job. They couldn't fire her for his actions, and can't fire her during the WGA strike. I just meant that currently, they are down to 0 "Days" paychecks. So, for the 20 years of abuse he put the cast and crew through, it's a nice thought to end the week.

THANK YOU, "DAYS" FANS!

Thank you to everyone who took a moment and made phone calls and emails this week. Thank you for showing your love and support for the cast & crew of "Days of Our Lives." Thank you to Corday Productions, NBC and Peacock for listening to the "Days" family and making a positive change. Monday begins a new chapter of "Days of Our Lives" and I look forward to what lies ahead for the show as we inch closer to its 60th anniversary!

I figured they updated the list as quickly as possible, to make sure all WGA writers know who is going to scab. I assume the two "Days" writers who are already fi-core will still be writing during the strike, but the show won't list any names. I expect the script writers to start disappearing from the credits around mid-late November, and then the breakdown writers will start disappearing in early-mid December. And then Ron & Ryan's names will be removed around Christmas Day.

While Sonia has produced her own original series, "Tainted Dreams," she's mostly been a director. It's possible Ken Corday wanted to save money by giving Janet one title and not both. Allegedly, Alarr was making about $2 million a year in his dual role. I'm sure Janet is a LOT cheaper.

Do you think they will be stuck continuing paying him money per his contract?

It's a fresh start to the new year (2024). The show just happens to also be wrapping up Ron's material as head writer, so around the same time as Janet takes over on Monday, they will also be starting the scab scripts, which should start airing just before or after Christmas Day.

*WGA-West* listed any/all of their writers who have gone fi-core - if you look closely at their page it says "WGAW" at the top of the ficore list on the current website.
*WGA-East* supposedly doesn't normally reveal their writers who go fi-core. According to what Variety said in 2008, the only reason we know who from East went fi-core in 2007-2008 is that they were outed in a letter.
That is my understanding - I detailed what I mean about that at this post on the strike thread:
https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/62620-2023-writers-actors-strike-thread/?do=findComment&comment=1865104

But I don't want to derail this "Alarr finally fired" discussion! Celebrating that he's gone!

This is why I'm not too fond of the mainstream press sometimes. Don't do any real research, make mistakes (Albert wasn't the executive producer, and Sony isn't the producer of DAYS), and write short enough articles that include just enough bits and pieces that help pass as if they are covering a story...not to mention only covering it when it's all over.

I always thought that was the full list. I think Jeanne Ford lives in Maryland, so I always thought she would be WGAE, like the Cullitons. Yet Ford is listed on the fi-core list of the WGAW list. That's why my assumption has always been it's the full list of the entire WGA fi-core. Unless I am totally wrong, I just thought WGAE were for writers who lived in the eastern half of the US, and WGAW was for writers who lived in the western half of the US.

As I said elsewhere, news dump Fridays exists for a reason. Haha. I figured he'd be fired by today as well as there is just no way he could continue in the job on Monday with the cast and crew against him. I just didn't think it would drop at 8:00 p.m. pacific time.

    • Good Morning, this is still funny to me but I totally enjoyed what makes up "DemetriKane" so unnecessary, who cares?!!! Glad you like the Emma Peel derivative story.
    • Christian Streaty penned today's Day's script. https://www.linkedin.com/in/christian-streaty/
    • Yes, they did.  I still have them.  I think there were three.  AMC and GH as well.
    • Ah okay, thats what I thought. I was hoping I missed the announcement somewhere. Thanks for the clarification.
    • A new day in Salem… and a new day for Days.  I like the way everybody found out and absorbed the news about John’s death, and how they all eventually found their way to Marlena’s to offer their condolences. I’m not particularly sure why they waited until the next day to tell everybody but I don’t really mind it.  We finally got Roman’s perspective! His scenes with Kayla were one of the best parts of today. I’m glad that Roman is thankful for everything that John did for his kids. I agree with posters who said that he should’ve had a scene like this with John, but I’m happy we got this at least.  Julie was used very well today too. She’s definitely the best person for Marlena to have scenes with at the moment. Hopefully, Julie continues to be there for her. And yes, I totally agree with Marlena and Belle sending EJ away when he came to the apartment. I’m curious to see what’s going to happen to his and Belle’s relationship in the aftermath of all this. And, while I enjoyed most of Brady and Kristen’s scenes, I still think the ship has sailed for them. Hopefully, the aftermath of John’s death causes Brady to finally end this thing with her once and for all.  And, I see a lot of people were wearing some kind of shade of purple today.

    • Wow, I love that current and former actors are participating in this. I barely recognize Staci Greason! She looks fine, just very different. But I will be happy to hear anecdotes from her. I shipped RoJohn and Isabella hard back in the day, and I sobbed buckets in my dorm room at college when Izzy B passed. Honestly, I'm interested in everyone's stories. Drake seemed like he was well loved among the cast.
    • When she first appeared, I was sure she was setting Tyrell up for a prank. She was too much of a manic pixie dream girl- I wasn't surprised Tyrell also became suspicious. Now I'm not so sure. If Jessica genuinely likes Tyrell, it seems like a missed opportunity to not have started her out as a bully, then we see her gradually catch feelings for Tyrell.  The McBrides are definitely the "C" family of BTG. They always get last priority. There have been a few times where the Doug/Vanessa/Joey characters reference off screen conversations which seem too important to not show us. Like when Doug thanked Joey for giving him extra time to pay off the loan. When did that happen? Or when we abruptly moved from Vanessa/Joey at Uptown to Vanessa/Doug in the hotel room. The McBrides don't even have their own set - even though Vanessa is a realtor. It's a shame because I am a fan of the characters and actors.

I am also adjusting to KR as Ted but I feel that AM and MJ had way more chemistry as father and daughter than AM and KR. We saw Eva dream of having a real relationship with MJ's version of Ted for months so it's a bit of a bummer not to have that payoff with the original actor except for those scenes in MJ's last episode.  Something I noticed about Eva today is how she takes genuine delight in being a schemer. As badly as she wants to be a Richardson, she still has so much of her mom in her. It was jarring seeing her earnestly promise to steer clear of Leslie in her scene with Ted, then immediately switch attitudes when her mom showed up.  I'm very surprised with how quickly the accident story has been moving along. I was sure that it would be months if not years before people figured out it was Leslie on the motorcycle, not to mention responsible for the potassium overdose. I'm looking forward to seeing how MVJ and Guza avoid writing Leslie into a corner.  Finally, I have been loving the Articulettes story. Bonita Brisker was just the right amount of OTT - remember Sharon is supposed to be even more angry than Tracy is. If Sharon didn't come in swinging, people would say she fell flat. The way Sharon and Tracy describe the breakup is so Supremes-meet-Original Recipe Destiny's Child. I get the sense that MVJ is re-writing the Return to Love Tour as a roman a clef, and I love it. I'm looking forward to finding out what the secret they share is. If Dante Green is as shady as Berry Gordy was, it's something dark. If/when they go through with the reunion, I expect Dante to show up and claim to own the Articulettes trademark in a Lou Pearlman-esque twist.
