Is anyone having any luck with any of the new microblogging sites?

I've tried Post, but it is mostly news and information without an interactive community of comments.

Mastodon feels underdeveloped and underpopulated.

And I just got an invitation to Bluesky, but I haven't signed up yet.

I want something that is intelligent and provocative without being incendiary and poorly monitored for falsehoods.  And although I am entertained by TikTok it mostly feels like a self-created ad machine

I have two accounts on Spoutible but I haven’t spouted a single thing yet and I started my first account on the first day and my second later in the first week. Technically I am in that first wave of accounts, except I haven’t actively posted anything yet.

The proprietor of Spoutible is experiencing a flood of new people starting accounts since Twitter began barring access to tweets.

There are some notable people who joined Spoutible but no official news organizations, which is an issue for me, a news junkie.

And as much as I criticize the media, I would like some arts and entertainment media outlets on there. I think some well known bloggers have set up accounts but haven’t really begun to use them. This latest series of foolhardy maneuvers by Musk may provide incentive for them to start using their accounts.

You’re not allowed to post unless you verify your identity. You can open accounts but that doesn’t mean you will be able to post unless and until you verify your identity. Also, so far, accounts that violate the rules get their account(s) terminated pretty quickly.

It will be interesting to see if with the crush of new people coming onto the platform, if moderation will be as quick, with fixes of any bugs or dispatching accounts that violate terms.

Also, I think two accounts might be the limit for accounts that you can create, but I am not totally certain.

Which is a positive; however, I've noticed a glitch: you cannot change your profile image once it is uploaded. And keep getting alerts of 40+ notifications, when there are none. hmm. Hopefully they can fix that up. But, so far, it's a cute platform.

edit; got it to work, haha. It was the file's name. LOL.

Yeah, Christopher and his small staff have been working on fixing issues as they surface. I think there is a way to contact them directly if you have an issue but it may take some time these days  because they are now inundated with brand new users and he said that he doesn’t want to do what BlueSky is doing, which is to halt new user accounts.

What sad is, as Twitter clearly flops, there is now some sort of attack on Spoutible’s systems. Users who clearly started accounts in the last 24 hours, spouting vitriol, demanding that Christopher kill himself and spouting hate against LGBTQ+ people. A few accounts begging to be banned and spouting more hate. They really don’t want this man’s venture to succeed and are doing all they can to sabotage it. Things were peaceful for 6 months and now this, sadly.

That's disgusting.  Absolutely disgusting.

I may look at it, but given that I'm not a fan of IG and its interface, this'll likely be a no-go for me.

I've heard mixed things about Spill.  The other problems with all of these new platforms is how unreliable and unpredictable they are going to be.

    • And if I remember correctly, at one point, they were considering having Linda Thorson play Opal's sister.
    • Interesting. Makes me wonder how the day to day looked for Secret Storm at this point in the run. This seems very to deal with the psychological aspect, I guess the "inner storm", and the music is almost sinister. If this is from 1974 there's not much room for dates it could've been from as it ended on February 8th.  It's hard to tell from an edit featuring just one storyline, but if this was the day to day it might've been heavy for the casual viewers.
    • Well, they were both involved with Ray Gardner.  Then, the actress left, only to return as a somewhat broader interpretation of the character after Dottie was SORASed.  By that time, Opal had left in 1983.  So, while they serve the same story function, one could argue that Edna was the carbon copy.
    • Okay, now it's my turn to ask about the Thorntons, namely Edna. Did she and Opal have any scenes together? I ask because I was familiar with Opal first, so when I found out about Edna, my biased mind saw her as the first try for that type of character.
    • There is no dispute that Jill Farren Phelps had a successful career in daytime based on longevity, but that does not preclude discussion and dislike of her decisions at various shows. Sure there may have been some misogyny involved BITD(we don't know as I don't recall JFP ever mentioning that) but the head of CBS Daytime at that point was a woman and there were other women involved BTS. I think that so long as an EP could deliver, or at least talk a good game they would be respected.
    • It surprises/disappoints me too that GL's ratings during '89-'93 don't reflect the quality of the show. But when I call it great soap, I'm not defining that by ratings either.  I'm probably in the minority, but I think Reilly takes something intangible with him when he goes. There's a sense of humor that just disappears in '93.
    • Ok, I know nothing about Another World except their catchy intro song from long ago, but this makes me want to catch!  That crazy mother keeping her son's girlfriend or wife hostage, wow!
    • And maybe Hotel could have been placed at 9pm Tues instead of Paper Dolls. Not that I thing it was a surefire thing but at least viewers were familiar with the show and it might have done better than PD. ABC's line up was pretty threadbare at that point. And with a big guest star to launch the season - Elizabeth Taylor- the numbers would have been there initially.
    • Any fan of RuPaul would dispute calling any of these examples “drag”. A costume?, A disguise?, A lame attempt at humor? -- yes -- Drag? -- nope
