After reprising his role as Mike Young during the final episodes of “Neighbours” last year, actor Guy Pearce will return to Ramsay St. later this year when the show returns to television on Amazon Freevee in the United States and the United Kingdom and Network 10 in Australia. Pearce made a name for himself on the drama series when he originated the role in 1986.

In a message posted across the show’s social media channels, producers noted, “It’s official folks… Guy Pearce is riding back into Erinsborough as Mike Young in all new episodes of #neighbours later this year…”

The news of Pearce’s return was first announced by the actor himself during a recent episode of the “Good Weekend Talks” podcast hosted by Conrad Marshall.

When asked about his return to “Neighbours” to help the show wrap up its storylines, and how things will turn out with his character now that the show is coming back, Pearce shared, “I was a little thrown by that because Annie [Jones] and I called each other and went, What do we do now? Because we’re in the we’re living in the street. And she said, Well, why? Because I’m on the show anyway. What are you going to do? I said, I don’t know. So we’re in the process of working it out.”

In a follow-up, Pearce was asked if fans could expect to see him return to Ramsay St., which he responded to, saying, “You may, you know, because obviously, if I’m going to extricate myself from the show, I have to do it in a you know, I want to do it sort of respectfully. And I wasn’t just going to go, oh, well, bad luck, You know, you had your chance. That was it. You know, So there may be a little appearance or two, shall we say.”

Since concluding his original run on “Neighbours” in 1989, Pearce has gone on to star in such memorable films as “Momento,” “L.A. Confidential” and “The King’s Speech.” He has received numerous accolades for his performances, including a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for his portrayal of Monty Beragon in “Mildred Pierce” and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for “The King’s Speech.”

In 2022, Neighbours was canceled after a 37-year run due to the loss of a broadcast partner in the U.K. Months after the show aired what was expected to be its final episodes, Amazon announced it had signed a deal with the show’s production company, Fremantle, to bring the show back via its popular Freevee streaming platform and Prime Video in key markets.

Upon its return, “Neighbours” will be available to stream on Amazon Freevee in the United Kingdom and the United States and Prime Video in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland and South Africa – Network 10 will retain first-run broadcast rights in Australia with ad-free episodes releasing seven days later on Prime Video in Australia. Previous seasons of “Neighbours” and many iconic episodes are available to stream on Amazon Freevee.
