I think the writers rushed the breakup because

Allie apparently exits later this week.

I heard. But even that seems rushed too

Chanel and Allie have been fighting since Marlena died, so that seems like a fair amount of time to focus on their breakup.

However, just the other day I was reminded that Chanel once impulsively married Xander (which was little more than a year ago).  And now they rarely interact, so that seems like a strange artifact of the quick pace of stories on DAYS. By spring will we even remember that Chanel was once Henry's co-parent?

😍😂😂

Hahaha

I'm the same way when it comes to layout of Allie's apartment. That hallway apparently leads to at least three bedrooms, yet there are windows on either side of that hallway 😂😂

They did the same goofy design for Rafe's kitchen, in which the hallway to neverland has been moved at least twice, with windows all around.

LOL, so, uh, 4 days ago?!! Seriously, I get your meaning, in real time, not Salem time. It just hit me funny.

Aremid is probably my favorite JER story.  It's really perfect.

Agreed. Possession 1.0 is what reeled me into the show in the first place, but Aremid and the entire story arc was soap perfection.  If only we didn't have to endure a Jennifer Rose Horton recast, but you know some actors and their libidos.... ;)

If I had to rank my favorite JER Days stories it would be:

6. Bo/Hope Avalanche(I never see anyone talk about this lol.)

7. Austin/Carrie/Lucas/Sami

I did like the initial first few months of the Possession when it was gothic and creepy but by April 1995 it completely lost that feel. Entertaining though. Had the same feelings about Paris.

Playing catch-up on this thread of good ol' DAYS gone by.... Personally, I group in the Bo/Hope avalanche story with the overall Aremid arc. Since it took place in the mountains of Aremid and Jude St. Clair was involved (first lurking around the Jennifer/Peter wedding, then keep Hope hostage).

Basically, in late '95 through March '96, two-thirds of everything was Aremid related, while the Sami/Carrie/Austin/Lucas and Vivian/Victor/Kate stuff played out at home in Salem.

Also, in watching (and, okay, re-watching) the OG Possession storyline, ITA with you about the dark, ominous, gothic feel of it from December to Feb/March, but then it started getting hokey with the island stuff, Zombie Curtis Reed, the wind storm and all that jazz.  Seeing it from an overall story arc, it feels like they were stretching it out to do the big "she's possessed" reveal and exorcism for the summertime.

Gwen and Xander are fking garbage!! Why are they still on the show? I see xander recovered quickly from kidnapping two people and causing a murder. Xander should be rotting in jail.

Great seeing Sonny! I wonder if the great hot smile by Sonny was more Zach glad that his time on his show was ending. He doesn't have to put up with this horrible writing.

Well, that's one example of when Reilly could get into trouble. He'd be working a genius idea but for some reason he'd be doing really poor execution or implementation. In the case of the original demonic possession they set out to tell the story in a given timeframe & then completely changed their minds & aimed to end it much later but instead of just writing *much* more material, they tried to somehow stretch what was already written to last longer! Salem time got even weirder. Repetition crept into the days & nights & what had been compelling became clumsy & confusing.

Yeah, their original intention was to have the possession storyline end around Easter (Marlena is risen! Hallelujah!).

Two years later in Spring of '97, we encountered the same issues again with Carrie/Austin/Sami and John/Marlena/Kristen kind of coasting along biding their time for their big summer payoffs. But hey, we stuck through it and watched.

Ever wonder if as soap fans we have a bit of masochism in us?!!! 🫵🫰🤔

I guess I’m asking too much to have the sets be designed correctly, right? 😂😂

Yes I watched to see Sonny. He looked really hot today and that smile.😍

It was nice seeing Paulina too and Mr. Bobblehead.  Wendy too!

But the rest of the show raised my blood pressure.
