All: Characters you thought would come back but never did

In contrast to the topic about characters staying on shows beyond expectations, were there certain characters we fully thought they would one day return either the original actor returning or a recast yet they still have yet to return?

I know the biggest example that comes to mind for myself is Dru on Y&R. Fifteen years later, she is still MIA after falling off the cliff.

Same with Macy on B&B yet no dice.

Also I had figured Andy on ATWT would resurface in town at some point but that ended up being a definite no.

I always thought Cole would one day resurface on Y&R. It's been over twenty years, but he does still have ties to the canvas through Victoria and Ashley.

Peter on Days, though I understand that there's behind the scenes issues there.

I only watch B&B and Macy was the first character that came to mind too. When the show tried to reintroduce the Spectras in 2017, it made no sense for her not to be a part of that (especially since establishing the new Spectra characters proved problematic due to lack of connections to the show's history and other characters).

Stefan Cassadine on General Hospital. I get that because of some Behind the Scenes dispute that the actor Nichols will never return but i really thought he would.

Lucky on General Hospital.. I mean a whole decade without Lucky? Come one guys.. It's not like Valentini gives a damn about continuity and tradition and stuff.. He loves to do revisit old storys and stuff and never recasted Lucky? Really?

Mike Horton on Days of our Lives! Carlivati is another one that loves to bring back as many people as he can but Mike Horton never crossed his mind? OK.. Surprising.

Who i thought should've been brought back were Marie or Sandy Horton on Days of Our Lives.

Dru Winters on Y&R.. I get that this was another Behind the Scenes case why that never happened but this should've happened at some point. This was 2007 and Joshua Morrow had some contract dispute himself and was presumed dead for like 3 months. Could u imagine if he wouldn't have returned? That would have been 2 big losses in one year for that show.

#1 Brenda on GH.  It's been like a decade.  WTH is the wait?

Non fan girl picks-

Lots of Days kids disappear

Andrew Donovan as an adult on Days

Stephanie on Days

Chelsea on Days

Melissa on Days-she'd fill the Horton void Hope/Jen have left open

Dougie on Days-like legit Doug has a kid out there that is never mentioned lol

I agree with Peter as well

Lois on GH-I am surprised she hasn't been recast

Not a daytime soap, but I was always upset they never brought Alison back on Melrose Place.  Her and Billy should have had a happy ending and the only update we got on Alison is that she was a drunk again in Atlanta.  She was the main heroine of the show for several years.  WTF?

Macy Alexander - did she die the second time around after being hit by that damn Chandelier?

Marie Horton - Loved her! didn't come back for more then a decade since Alice Horton funeral. Ridiculous.

Kimberly Brady - return briefly during 2010 and then.. poof, disappeared.

Dru winters of course. the poor thing fell of a rock and we to this date do not know if she's alive or not

Lisa - brad's wife that locked him a cage for weeks or months, was she ever caught?

    • Agnes had written for Bernard Grant for many years on TGL as well as Ernest Graves and Joe Gallison,Doris Belack,Robert Milli, and  Antony Ponzini at AW. So she would probably gravitate to writing a role with an actor in mind or choosing someone she had written for before who she knew could deliver.
    • Once Johnny Dallas' cut himself off from Laurie Ann Karr and their son, and once Laurie successfully recovered from her mental problems, she wanted a new, fresh, and healthy start for the next chapter of her life. She legally reverted her name and changed John Victor's  surname to Karr. After moving to the country (when Teri  Keane was dropped from the show), Bill and Martha Marceau legally adopted Jennifer, the baby girl whom they had earlier taken in when the child's biological mother, Taffy Simms (and other bio family members) proved to be unfit to raise her. Jennifer legally and emotionally became a Marceau, and gave that name to her own daughter, whom Jennifer birthed through surrogacy as a single parent. Et...voila! The Karr and Marceau legacies live on.

    • BLQ is having second thoughts regarding putting her baby up for adoption. Chase is upset he can't tell Dante. So both are putting this on at lulus feet. Saying she is holding it over them. Lulu is doing none of this.
    • Yes she absolutely was involved in that story which seems to have gone nowhere.  She didn't start to remove herself from the writing until 1973.
    • Y'all are bringing back great memories of AMC 2.0 for me.  I haven't thought about it and the new characters in so long, well since it aired, and I plan to go re-watch it now. When AMC ended, I finally came to peace with it and accepted that I will never watch an hour of a TV show daily in my life again... something that I had been doing since I was 6-7 years old. I was starting a new career, relationship, and chapter in life when AMC 2.0 came out.  I found a way to watch it, but things felt differently for me at the time and when it was so short-lived and gone, it became such a distant memory, sadly.
    • That's a great point. I wish the writing could find those nuances.
    • After all Lulu's been through with her coma and missing years I can get her being on the sensitive side especially when talking to her mother.  I was thinking it was more a culmination of everything than just this one particular problem.
    • I see her moral dilemma, too, and I don't think Lulu was out of line. I just felt it was overboard for her to break down in tears over her dilemma.
    • I also think the fact Lulu chose abortion and Brook Lynn chose to give a baby up for adoption instead when they were in similar situations adds another layer to this.  The writing doesn't really state this, but I can see Lulu slightly spiraling about thinking she could have an adult child out there if she made a different choice.  Both woman made the right choices for themselves at the time, but I can see both making parallels to their decisions.
