Aww man!! :( I didn’t even hear if he had been sick in recent years. Hopefully he’s with his son again!

RIP. This has been a rough year for soap deaths.

I was really lucky to speak with him in 2008, not too long after the accidental death of his son. I did a write-up about that conversation here. I admit, it was one of my favourite interviews I ever did. He was so kind, so sharp, and so engaged:

http://www.pinevalleybulletin.com/Features/InterviewTyloM.html

My favourite memories he shared:

  • That Tylo called Susan Lucci "Sweet N' Low" because of her tiny stature
  • That Tylo, Mark LaMura, and Mathew Cowles went to church together every day - can you imagine fan's faces seeing Billy Clyd Tuggle taking communion! It's so sad to think that all three of these Icons have passed.
  • That Tylo was one of the few actors to work directly for the trifecta of great daytime writers: Douglas Marland, Agnes Nixon, Bill Bell

Thank you for sharing that. What a lovely interview (as are all the others at Pine Valley Bulletin).

It's so sad that the role that he was most known for, the show on which it aired, is no longer in the air, so the only tributes we'll see are those low-budget YouTube ones. I guess we can always hope that Y&R does a 'Blade Bladeson'🙄 tribute.

Their Twitter account did put a tribute  to him, with an old photo of Michael and Brenda. I was surprised they did that much.

The bare minimum is what soap fans have come to expect nowadays. Most soap fans would not have 'shipped' Blade and Ashley over Quint and Nola, but alas, Guiding Light doesn't have an official social media account. At least The Doctors has RetroTV, which is reasonably active. Guiding Light (and As The World Turns) has zilch.
