Not sure I believe China's totals.

Florida always ends up supporting this type of Republican, sadly.

I think if not for even the likes of Morning Joe excoriating him, he wouldn't have done this (and even now he's not closing until Monday). It's all about the money pouring in from college students.

Of course, Evangeline Lilly's within her rights NOT to self-quarantine.  However, what she (and others) fail to understand is that the rest of the nation (and the world) is on lockdown, not necessarily out of a need to protect our own, healthy selves, but in order to protect those who are most vulnerable to the virus (namely, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems), and to give our health care industry a chance to get this [!@#$%^&*] under control without adding more patients to their already heavy workloads.

Now, maybe we are overdoing it a tad with all the hoarding and doomsday prophecies.  But, is it really a strain on our freedoms to practice a little more social distancing (avoiding large gatherings, staying closer to home, ordering more takeout and delivery or just cooking your own meals, etc.) until we have flattened that so-called curve?  I mean, God forbid people actually have to stay at home and spend time with their own families for awhile, right!?

Also, I'm reminded again why I quit watching "Lost" after David Fury left.

What annoys me the most is people who go around and spread the virus, have their children spread the virus, etc. try to act so noble about it. There was an article a few days ago about selfishness in the US, refusing to isolate and how it is passed off as patriotism.

At least this led to some good gossip:

Well, it's because of our political history (of course WW2 and also the supression of the people in the Former German Democratic Republic). The government doesn't want to act like a dictatorship, and banning people from going outside clashes with the nation's mantra "Unity and Justice and Freedom". People are very sensitive when it comes to personal rights.

However, like in the US, each of the federal states – and on a smaller scale, local authorities – can make their own decisions regarding shutdowns etc. That's why Berlin (the largest city and also a federal state on its own) and Cologne (4th largest city) were among the first ones to go into emergency mode.

Last night, Angela Merkel held a televised state of the union address for the first time during her period of government to remind everyone to minimize social contacts and stay at home.

The states North Rhine-Westphalia, Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria have the most infections. On Tuesday, the first municipality in Bavaria announced that one city has become a "red zone" until April 2nd. Residents there are no longer allowed to leave their houses except for work and for grocery shopping. The area has already been extended to several other towns. An hour ago, the city of Freiburg in the state of Baden-Württemberg announced a complete lockdown, starting on Saturday.

I guess more states and counties – or even the whole country – will follow soon. The president of Bavaria already threatened to impose a lockdown on the entire state of Bavaria, while several virologists warned of the outcome of such drastic measures.

Exactly.  As if likely infecting others with a respiratory illness that's been known to kill across all age groups is somehow "stickin' it to the man."

Look, I'm always down for some civil disobedience.  But, how can I do that when I'm too damn ill to lift my head off the pillow?  And how I could even live with myself, knowing that I might have spread such a virus to others, even if I, myself, might experience only mild (or even no) symptoms?

There's a time to resist fascism, and then there's a time to gaf about others' well-being.  Pick. Your. Battles.

(Not directing that last statement toward you, @DRW50.)

    • I kinda think that's the point, Leslie isn't logical; she is very unhinged. She's probably mad at Eva turning on her in front of the Duprees. They need each other but I do want to see Eva form a family unit away from Leslie.
    • IDA. I felt this was his best episode and the actor sold it for me especially bc Martin has been so stoic and not very expressive with his emotions. The actor's weakness actually became a strength here bc I felt he really came alive and I bought his rage towards Leslie and later and later vulnerability he exposed to Smitty. He's growing and while I had reservations at first, I think they should keep him. He's done well with this reveal
    • The soapy convention that amused me today was the amount of stuff that soap characters get done on their way to work. I drink a glass of iced coffee, take a handful of pills, read @AbcNbc247 morning summary, and I am out the door.  Marlena got on a full beat of makeup, and her Monday blazer.  Then she visited with Johnny at the Salem Inn, EJ at the mansion, and checked in with Cat, all before reading her emails.  It is just remarkable how much people can do when they never have to go to the bathroom! Marlena's vibe with Cat was weird, considering she hired Cat as an assistant.  She seemed a little suss today. Meanwhile, with all of these new interactions, I want a scene between Chad and Marlena when they discuss blazers.  I think Chad's more unconstructed, knit jackets would suit Marlena (no pun intended).

MTV's Floribama Shore Kirk Medias is dead at 33 years old.
    • Of course, sexy silver fox Dr. Jeffrey Russell has to be in cahoots with EJ so that Kayla's morals don't look selfish and skewed when she is completely in the wrong in letting Steve accidentally on purpose look at the important hospital files. Anyone find it funny that a handful of characters slurred their words today?  I can't quite explain it, but sometimes, like today, I feel like Deidre Hall plays scenes too light or passive, for lack of a better word. She's definitely more known as a charismatic personality than powerhouse actress compared to her soap diva counterparts from other soaps, but I just wish she could give me more. I did, however, like that her scenes with EJ got a 'to be continued...' about Belle. Maybe then I'll see more of what I want from her. Have Shawn and Johnny literally ever had a scene together before today? If they start having Sarah in a scene where she connects with literally any other Horton, then I'll be really impressed.  I'm glad they went through the trouble of explaining why EJ bid on Cat. It made enough sense, and I laughed when Chad spit out his asking about it as soon as humanly possible.

    • But Leslie is doing it all for her daughter.

Such a liar. Great episode but Martin needs to be recast. He hasn't improved. I didn't feel anything for him because of his acting and the writing. He has been so isolated from Ted and Nicole that he doesn't seem like their son, much less family. Leslie is pure evil. She wants Ted and the house and the riches that go with it. She doesn't care about Eva. I felt really bad for Eva.
    • I dont understand the motivation behind it. Eva is her link to Ted and the Duprees and without her, she has nothing. It would have served better for Eva to be all fed up with her and leave the house on her own and Leslie try to make amends bc she needs her for this comeup she's been talking about. Eva can repair her relationship with Ted and maybe build something with the Duprees and cut her out
    • So good today Dante is overreacting blaming gio Hopefully Danny will come clean
    • Not mad at Leslie Locking Eva out, I think it's important for the audience to see her on her own for a while. Curious how scrappy and savvy she becomes on her own. Yeah, I am with you there. It feels a bit hollow; maybe if she was talking to Martin and Kat I would feel better about it. There must be more to this story. Daphnee and Ambyr owned this episode. Tugging my heart in every scene. Nicole process hurt and anger much differently than Dani though.
