Season 4 is probably the strongest as a whole in my opinion, and I was heartbroken at the end with Hazel dying.    

Season 5 does have some strong episodes dealing with the aftermath of the Great War, but for me Virginia, the new lady of the house, can't live up to either Hazel or Lady Marjorie. I think they tie it all up beautifully at the end though, with one of the best endings of any show I've ever watched. Which is why I like to pretend that the later BBC show from 2010 never happened.

I did find it a very strong season! While focus on the war isn't high on my preferences, it was understandable, and they certainly did a good job showing how it affected the household. That being said, I enjoyed the second half more, when we got more of the messier, personal stuff. lol

That totally took me by surprise. That poor woman deserved better from a lot of people in her life, especially James (but, hey, he's pretty to look at!).

I loved Virginia from her very first scene, so I'm certainly interested in seeing how she does as lady of the house. And happy to hear it has a good ending!

I didn't realize it back then. But now I have noticed that I always pay a little more attention to the moment in their matches where Matt and Jeff take their shirts off 😂😂😂😂

I hope you enjoyed it. It's a bit uneven in my opinion. Some great episodes, and some not so great. Never bad mind you. I think the only episode I found bad during the entire show was (ironically) The Swedish Tiger from season 1. A horribly convoluted plot that is almost impossible to follow.
