I'm glad to hear it is a good episode. I may give it a try now that Barr is gone. I know the ratings are going to crash but I hope it does well as I think TV needs shows like Roseanne, probably more than ever.

(I'm not sure I will ever be able to not call it Roseanne)

The reviews are shockingly pretty solid. I don't know about the numbers, but I will watch.

I will say I do think Season 10 should be watched as background on the new family members, etc. especially Mark, but that's me.

Wrapping up Season 10 on a site which shall not be named on the eve of The Conners:

  • Jackie telling the kids 'ghosting stories' about men at the spooky sleepover as they wait to skype with D.J.'s wife at 2 AM from Afghanistan is peak Jackie in a way that they haven't done without Barney Fife crap in a long time. I cackled. Again, this is good Jackie work the same way Jackie with Bev in the prior episode was.
  • D.J. and Dan talking about his struggle with the VA, PTSD, etc. was surprisingly good from Fishman. I loved how he said he'd been watching Dan work on bikes since he was five and Dan offered to have him help restore bikes. "Welcome to Conner & Son."
  • The neighbor answering the door with a bat just after Jackie took Roseanne's was great. "Nice work, Jackie."
  • Pleased to hear the Al-Harazis will continue to recur as the newest set of Conner neighbors. The dynamics worked, including the scene in the store with Roseanne using her EBT card to cover Fatima's. It's sad that'll be one of the last glimpse we had of the decent Roseanne Conner.

The whole opioid episode is as good as anything from classic Roseanne. And the B-plot with Becky, Darlene and who will get Crystal's full benefits job was handled really maturely. Lecy also got some good one-liners. "You don't have to thank me. I didn't want to leave here anyway. We just got cream-filled churros. It's an exciting time." Darlene giving her the brochures for adult education and a hotel management degree is the most this show has given a shït about Becky in a long time - I loved that.

I am sure Frank's been missing her lisp and singing.
    • I have a feeling if he does return, they will move him on to someone they see as fresher (like Sasha). Just depends on whether ABC folds.
    • Aiyiyiyi!!! Thanks. See that now but what I thought I saw before, obviously, DAYS. These IV drugs I'm taking are killing me. My brain is negatively affected. Things don't taste right. I'm smelling things that are not there. Etc.
    • The only thing is that the Victoria/Ashland wedding of a few summers back felt like months, to me at least. So this summer it's the Dumas fête. I noticed that one of us, ranger1rg, has predicted the following... It could go like that. But it also could be more like a repeat of Victoria/Ashland, only this time, I could see it feeling like the better part a year. (For example, we'll see all of them unpacking their suitcases and choosing several ensembles to wear for several evenings of the party. Then each Y&R regular attending the party gets introduced, plus a few new people, but not Dumas, of course. Then various invitees make speeches to compliment other invitees. Blah, blah, blah... And ultimately, we may or may not see Dumas on camera at some point.) The only prediction I feel really comfortable making is that the length of the party will NOT be a "happy medium."

    • Which is what I'm sure the show wanted. Now Liz can be ready for Finn's triumphant return.
    • I am so damned embarrassed to be an American with that...thing...at the helm.
    • Jan was supposed to be a Dupree family housekeeper, which connected Ashley to Naomi... but I'm pretty sure they dropped that storyline.
    • Very sorry to hear of her passing. Aside from a few clips I've only ever "known" her through scripts and photos, but she along with the rest of the original cast helped make a show that changed daytime forever. We're still talking about one of her major stories on here to this very day.
    • That's a lovely photo. RIP.

    • I'll miss him too (still can't believe those were actual publicity photos - Joe Breen must have had a coronary), but he won't be gone forever.  Rauch did well at making people feel they were important (as long as they were willing to play along). That's probably why Erika Slezak loved him (he also gave her better story than he gave Zimmer). I think Kim has a certain amount of self-awareness but also needed to feel like she was the big star and desperately needed by the show. Wheeler was clearly incapable of expressing that.
