If Y&R/Sally were smart, they would've used this moment to use Reed as a catalyst to introduce new, dynamic teen characters much like they did with Billy back in '99 which led  to Mackenzie, Brittany, Rianna, Raul, and JT. This was the perfect chance to try and recapture that.

That was the last good group. And then someone came in and totally destroyed it.

I'm not mad. This is the only way to keep them relevant since the Lame fans throw a hissy fit anytime their airtime gets small or a third party gets involved.

Don't know how old these kids are but they shouldn't age them any older than 14, same with Faith. Let them grow up on the show and be kids before shoving them in our faces 24/7. They destroyed 3 generations of legacy characters by aging them too rapidly.

Oh god please no Ana. I HATE singing on soaps.

Ana doesn't have to sing and they don't have to bring back the same actress (whose acting wasn't very strong).

I just used Ana as an example of a previous character that is in Reed's age group who could be revived.

*shrugs* Y&R is gonna do what they do anyway.

Unless, Y&R gets some writers with some grasp of teen dialogue and situations, they could bring in the cast of Degrassi for Reed and it would still flop.

And considering how Reed is failing with viewers....I don't see much hope with other characters in his age range.

The young part in the 80's were Cricket, Danny, Nina, Phillip...etc..none were teens....well maybe Nina was considered that.....and of course the restless was everybody else......since it first premiered the young didn't mean teens until previous writers and now Sally have thought that.

Danny, Nina, Cricket, Phillip (along with Patty, Traci & Lauren) were teens (like Nikki & Paul before them) when they first arrived.

It wasn't until the mid-90's that Y&R had a noticeable lack of a (younger) teen scene.

Problem is that teens no longer watch soaps. Soaps want to hold onto the (older) viewers they have by rehashing the same stories with the same characters.

Wasn't it Bill Bell's other protege, John F. Smith, that wrote most of them off? Or was it Lynn Marie? I do wish that Mackenzie would've never been brought back under MAB. The character became insufferable and Clementine Ford's portrayal was piss poor.

If anything, Y&R (and all soaps TBH) need to go and watch this show and review how to write relevant, realistic teen stories.

I stopped watching when Clementine Ford played Mac. I couldn't stand her in the role.  I am not sure who got rid of all the younger scene.

The Glow By Jabot group began disappearing toward the end of Alden's run & was hastened by Jack Smith.

AshBash left first, followed not long after by Alexis Thorpe, David Tom & Kelly Kruger. Kelly returned around Christmas of the same year (along with Ryan Brown) by then Raul, Brittany & JT were the stars (with Colleen not far behind) until leaving again with Ryan Brown about six months later.

David Lago stuck around (doing much of nothing) until leaving in the middle of the next year (around the time AshBash returned) as the "newer" teens (Colleen, Lily, Daniel, Devon, Sierra) became the main teen scene.(with Cassie not far behind) as Brittany, JT & Mackenzie "graduated" to young adult stories. Lyndsy was essentially recurring for the better part of a year as CK slowly took her place as the lead teen.

That group remained together for a year until Camryn and Lyndsy exited (and the show recast AshBash with Rachel Kimsey) during the next spring, Asia Ray & CK disappeared in the summer (around the time Blair Redford's Scotty arrived) and Lauren Woodland FINALLY left in the winter.

Rachel Kimsey & Blair Redford left abruptly the following spring as Colleen (Adrianne Leon) & Lily (Davetta Sherwood) returned together (with a brief appearance by Asia Ray) and stuck around for a year until both characters were abruptly recast with CK & Tammin Sursok. Billy reappeared for a couple of months (when the show totally rewrote the character) during the summer along with Jana as Noah was SORASed and dated Michael's long lost sister.

Tammin stuck around the better part of two years (until Y&R killed the character off) as CK & The Winters got involved with Cane & Chloe. By the time Tammin left, CK was with Cane, Amber was hanging out with Kevin, Jana & Daniel, JT had married Victoria, Devon dated Roxy (and Ana arrived), Billy once again returned with Mackenzie not far behind, Y&R SORASED Abby into a teen (then a young adult) and Adam, Heather, Chance & Ronan appeared for a disastrous few years (along with Ryder & Daisy who sucked).

I like the actor who plays Reed, it's not his fault that the character has vapid storyline to work with.

This. The actor is fine. Hell hes better than the so called actress playing his mom.

The original Glow By Jabot group (except JT) were gone by the time LML arrived.

Billy returned during her regime but left again after a horrible couple of months.

He'd be much more tolerable if all his was whining had a point.

But as the son of an heiress (with a huge extended family) and a loving father & stepmother all his problems are truly First World problems.

Agreed on his whining. There's no real story or point to any of it. To cause Victoria angst? Pass. I also can't really stand singing on soaps either so I don't really care about that.

I don't mind the Tessa actress so far.
