Wink Martindale posted on his Facebook page that actor Barry Jenner has died. He also posted a great clip from the $100,000 Pyramid. Barry also did stints on Somerset and Another World in the 70s.

Very sad to report our friend Barry Jenner has passed away. Barry was best known for his roles on Dallas, Family Matters and of course Star Trek Deep Space Nine, to name a few. In addition Barry was a great game player making many appearances on shows like Pyramid and Super Password. He was a kind and sweet man who, no matter who you were or how long you knew him, made you feel like you were lifelong friends when speaking to you. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

From his DS9 costar:

My heart is broken. My thoughts are in grief&incomprehension. My good friend Barry Jenner has passed.Condolences to Suzanne&all who loved him.

I enjoyed his character on Dallas. I was glad to see him get even more airtime during Dallas dream season. I liked his pairing with Sue Ellen.

Btw I didn't know Wink was still alive.

Don't blame ya, jam. He was a good-looking guy and apparently very well-liked. He was also a Los Angeles Police Reserve Officer for 2 decades.

He died of leukemia. :(  Someone mentioned that he was supposed to attend the big Star Trek convention they had in Vegas the other week but he was too ill.

Looking at that clip from the game, he was so genuinely thrilled for his teammate to win the tournament. And they came so close to breaking Billy Crystal's record for fastest time. It was flawlessly played. He did it again with someone else, winning them the $100,000 when John Davidson hosted the game. Incidentally, apparently that contestant in the clip, MG McCormick, passed away just a few years later.

In an old newspaper article or soap mag article. It was prior to the role on Somerset, so I'm thinking he was an U/5  or something along a dayplayer. I think it said something along the lines of < Barry Jenner, who recently appeared on GL has taken the role of Tony Cooper on Somerset>  I hate when they don't name the character--LOL.

    • If NBC could have for seen the ratings of Lovers & Friends (the replacement for Somerset).. they would have for sure kept Somerset on the air longer. https://jason47.com/days/ratings1976.html  (ratings for Somerset in the final year) https://jason47.com/days/ratings1977.html (ratings for Lovers & Friends short run...getting as low as a 2 rating).

    • I liked them, too, and was really disappointed it never went anywhere. The whole art theft story was ridiculous, but they had a nice chemistry. Certainly nicer than Alan with Christine. With her, he looked like the funny uncle. The worst thing they did to Bolger, IMO, was having Phillip write that DREADFUL novel and dramatizing it while he wrote it. GAG, that has to be in the running for one of their worst storylines that didn't involve wacky things like clones or time travel. Soaps rarely do school storylines, or don't do them for very long. Not the case so much in the early days of soaps, but after GH took off in the late 70s other soaps took their lead and would catapult teens/young adults into adult stories right away. That's one reason Phillip and Mindy ended up with so many ex-spouses--they started getting married really young. They shipped Dina and Cameron off really fast after high school and stuck Alan Michael in a marriage storyline with Harley. Did he EVER go to college? I don't think so. It may also partly explain why Quint and Annabelle had to go, beyond TPTB wanting to do a cast sweep. Teaching is not a profession that plays well on a soap. Quint definitely had to quit being Indiana Jones, because that wore thin really fast, but they didn't do him favors by making him a professor. If they wanted to keep him, they should have done what they did with Amanda (who was in another dead-end soap job, concert pianist)--have him work at Spaulding as one of the major stockholders.
    • Judith McConnell (Augusta) and Denise Alexander (Lesley) were great screen partners on GH.  They got into some stellar arguments in character in the medicine room.
    • He also commented that Brad knows that fans are sick of the constant fake deaths on this show: Finn, Sheila, etc and that it's hard to take this seriously if it's another fake death

    • I just don't think Brad Bell has it in him to actually kill off Liam. He should have killed off Eric when he had the chance. I know John McCook is an original cast member, but Eric is even more useless than Liam. Eric should have died and then it would be revealed that he died without a valid will, so Donna, as his wife, inherits everything, including his shares in Forrester Creations.
    • I think we all will, isn't that how soaps work? lol
    • ^^ I'll believe it when it actually happens.
