I doubt it would hurt the cheese. It seems like a joke, but cheese is a big deal in Italy and they export plenty of specialty/gourmet types. It's almost unheard of for cheese like this to mentioned outside of cooking programs, so I can see why they would jump at the chance to perhaps drum up some attention.

Exactly. This is probably a publicity stunt on their part - they're going to get more attention to their cheese now.
