This story was such a mess. So underdeveloped and out of nowhere. Could've been better had they played all the beats properly. Tomlin needs to be put out on his ass.

Yep. I hate how they're only featured for a couple of minutes once a week. There is no momentum with this story.

There isn't. And when there is momentum, it gets lost instantly when they vanish for what seems like weeks on end.

I liked the initial meeting of them and how they started to warm up to each other. Ciara was heavily involved. It worked. But somewhere along the line, IMO, it fell apart.

I still like Hope/Aiden but they're just so boring to me now.

They need 2-3 weeks of strong focus. And other characters involved. Their story (possibly the most promising one on the show, alongside the gay triangle) is weirdly isolated.

Not only is there no momentum, there is no meaning behind it. Why is Aiden being made a psycho supposedly? For sweeps? If so, they could've built this story up so much better.

Why didn't they have Ciara protest the union from the start along with Doug and Julie because Aiden seemed 'off,' which he should've dropped hints of? He could've easily did heinous things to Doug and Julie along with creating tension between Hope and Ciara.

Also, they could've explained why Aiden possibly intends to make Hope his next target.

This story could've had all the potential and been something huge for ALL the Hortons. But it's going to fall flat and do nothing in the long haul. Once this wraps up, Hope will go back to being irrelevant alongside Abe, Roman, and Marlena.

I assumed from the beginning that Aiden is protecting his kid. I like Daniel Cosgrove and I've liked the chemistry between he and Alfonso, but this story has been so badly paced that I have no investment in it anymore.

I don't think it's been badly paced so much as consistently in the background. There was a steady slow burn of them clashing, recognizing their feelings, and getting together. I'm not sure why the show chose to minimize the clearest obstacles for them -- Ciara, Caroline, Doug & Julie -- and that's the part that pisses me off more. There was natural story there that they let play out in a matter of days. What's been onscreen, though, has by-and-large worked for me. I don't feel like we're missing beats of the story that has been told. I just would've told it differently.

No way is Aiden psycho. He's protecting the kid or Meredith set him up. Every single bit of shady behavior/intrigue has been explained away, and this will be no different. This show doesn't spend this much time investing in a psycho (see: Mark Collier's Liam).
