'Do I know you?': Soaps’ strangest recasts!

I always say this, but my stunt casting choice for Alex would have been Faye Dunaway. She would have brought that threatening yet vulnerable soft-spoken icy blonde quality Beverlee possessed.

Faye would've been great, but Faye would've never "lowered herself" to soaps, despite what's become of her and her career.

Also, she was at least still doing great, critically-acclaimed quasi-indies like James Gray's The Yards around that time and her face had yet to be destroyed.

What makes the Kate recast even more strange is that at the time MW was willing to return but the PTB didnt want her back.

I dont know if it waas jfp or wolfe that shut the door on her return but that was a huge mistake imho. MW was perfect as Kate. I never liked any of sonny's pairing but Skate 1.0 is easily one of my top 5 favorite couples

Of course, from a physical standpoint, recasting the tall, blond Sean Kanan with the much shorter, dark-haired Billy Warlock was a head-scratcher. I don't know if SK was fired or left of his own volition, but either way it was a hasty departure and they needed someone to step in FAST. I think BW more than made the part his own. He played AJ for over six years and fit in well with the wacky Qs. Of course, when they did give him a wife, the show screwed it up BIG TIME. The only time I ever liked Alicia Leigh Willis' Courtney was when she and AJ were together, only to sacrifice her to the altar of "Saint" Jason.

From SB, it is so hard to imagine Robin Wright and Eileen Davidson playing the same role - though there were two Kelly Capwells between them (Kimberly McArthur and Carrington Garland). At least they never recast my favorites (Eden, Cruz, Amy and Brick) - each of their exits left much to be desired.

Next?

At the time of his exit SK had alcohol abuse problem which made the storyline he was involved in even more difficult to play. I dont know if the show and sk came to an agreement but real-life events led to the recast. I never liked BW in the role. Wish they recast with someone else. I always thought that Judson Mills would have been perfect. Or maybe Brian Gaskill.

Another recast i had a hard time with was Tammy the hooker who was portrayed by Patricia Healy (i loved her in that role and wish they had delved deeper into the friendship between Tammy and Hannah) but was let go allegedly for showing up at work high on prescribed medicine. She was replaced by Tamara clatterbuck who i found kind of enjoyable but didnt fit who Tammy was supposed to be imho.

Was wendy riche still EP at the time? Maybe she was too busy launching PC to give GH her full attention because You got to be high to pretend that BW could pass for SK.

I know look isnt the be-all end-all when it comes to recasting but you go from sexy beat SK to one of Snow white's seven dwarfs BW?

Yeah, BW and PC first made the ABC scene in the summer of 1997. I remember that because that's when I first really started watching GH. I remember Judson Mills the best for his portrayal as the henpecked boyfriend of a girl who gets pregnant just to extort money from prospective adoptive parents in a 1994 episode of L&O.
