I think you are right, Soaplovers. It did take place gradually over years and I also want to say 2 or 3. That was such a great arc.

The way Tricia was written is just typical of what Kay Alden learned from Bill Bell. Y&R was able to sustain A LOT of characters that on other shows would be total psychos, but they worked on Y&R because Y&R was very psychological and also romantic, a true soap. There was always an emotional explanation for why people did things they did, so you felt for them and they didn't just seem like your typical psychos. Even going back to Jill and Katherine. Both of those characters could easily be classed as "evil" or "bitches," but in reality they just let very tragic and sad lives. Katherine had her issues with alcoholism and self-worth once she started aging and Jill came from a poor family and knew what it was to struggle. The emotion of what their relationship turned into was only due to years of proper, EMOTIONAL, character driven development for both of them.

I think B&B on a modernized front does attempt to tell stories in the Bell-style. I wish Y&R could look at the Bell model and one day update it. I think if you revisit the late 90s and slightly update it you could have the perfect soap. GH went back to the 80s, which was it's big heyday and similarly, I think the 90s put so much into place that it would be the perfect source of inspiration. Plus, there are so many characters from the 90s ripe for full-time returns. Nina, Olivia and Nate just for starters.

I remember she even kissed him as well (i believe it was NYE 1999(.. then 'accidently' ran him over with her SUV which caused him to die and eventually usher out Megan's character as well.

I remember spending days and nights debating with my friends whether Tricia had actually heard Tony's bike coming or not. The characters kept discussing about this for weeks. That was a time where the show would spark interesting discussions among viewers.

I think she ended up falling for Matt Clark, he drugged and raped her, then she went off the deep end when she realized who he was and drove them off a cliff together. Then I remember she spent time living in Victor's penthouse, she accused him of raping her and then decided to crash her ex husband Ryan's wedding to Victoria. After Ryan's accidently death, Tricia is committed and she sees an image of Matt Clark one last time before he 'leaves'. Not sure if that meant she was getting better, or if she had finally lost any grasp of reality.

Do you guys remember when she was escorted to prison in her wedding gown and the camera slowed down and Tricia looked right into the camera? Gave me goosebumps. I can't find any videos of that.

If I recall correctly, it was a 2+ year process from early 1999 through November 2001.

Yes, definitely. The girl even attempted suicide. Do you remember that scene? It was beautifully shot and edited.

Nowadays, she would be psycho within a month.

Ditto.

Tricia was my favorite character.
