I never understood why Richie was supposed to want him. I guess it was supposed to be some innate connection, but the actors didn't have the chemistry to make it work. Patrick was a selfish !@#$%^&*] who spent all his time talking about himself, and who fetishized Richie's ethnicity and culture. Richie would be better off elsewhere.

I think the issue with that comes from Andrew Haigh, I remember when she said something to the effect of the second season premiere that Patrick was missing Richie and when he saw a Richie look alike it was supposed to symbolize, Patrick missing Richie which is why he called Kevin, and had sex with him in the woods. This interpretation of events, literally made no sense to the viewing audience, and most people read the scene as Patrick having the chance to hook up with the Richie look alike, but declining that invitation to call Kevin and screw him in the woods. Overall the writing just didn't make any sense, and they never really grounded the Richie and Patrick relationship enough to make their relationship viable. Patrick was ashamed of Richie more then he really wanted to be with him, which is why Kevin and Patrick more or less "worked" because they were on more equally footing with what Patrick wanted for himself in a partner.

I pretty much stopped watching once Kevin left. I couldn't deal with the fantasy of Richie and Patrick ending up together happily ever after when their relationship was such a literal train wreck, and they barely interacted with each other in over a year's time.

I thought it was perfect. Patrick coming back for the wedding was a great set up for the movie.

His hook up with the 22 y.o. spoke volumes about Patrick being at a more comfortable, free and not self-loathing place any more. He fixed himself, so now he could make a relationship work.

As soon as Kevin started telling Patrick he f ucked them up, should see a therapist, etc, I knew it was over. I thought they wrote that and wrapped it up wonderfully.

Glad to see Dom getting his success and finally letting go a little and having fun with that handsome Jack.

Doris telling Patrick and Dom that she and Malik are thinking of having a baby made me cry. Doris was so, so good.

Agustin wasn't horribly annoying! They totally fixed him for this movie and his confiding his fears to Patrick about the future was another highlight.

And I'm glad they addressed Dom/Patrick, especially the "good on paper" angle. Yas. And they still gave us a kiss, just for posterity lmao.

I see the arc of Patrick's growing up, change and becoming a better person, and think his ending up with Richie (even if it doesn't work down the line) made absolute sense and was very touching. At the end of the day, they were hopelessly in love with each other, even if didn't realistically make sense. I love the idea of at least giving it a try. I cried during that beautifully shot scene where Richie comes back to the club. Richie's nod later at the diner was fantastic as well, and what a great ending shot for the movie.

That being said, 2/3 into the movie I realized that, had things ended with Patrick being alone, I would also have been happy with that. He didn't get a happy ending, after all (that was, surprisingly, reserved for Agustin, of all people!), just a possibility for a happy future. That could make happy both those who wanted them together and those who didn't, because they can just assume things went horribly bad one month later LOL

Overall, very, very, very happy and what a great relief they got a proper wrap-up!

    • I agree. I really have enjoyed this story from the beginning. I feel like it needed the time for us to care about Doug. They've done a nice job of explaining his motives and making me care for him. I still feel like he's doomed and Vanessa will end up being a widow and now I'm invested in that *not* happening now that I've fallen for him. Friday was good but so was the entire week. I think they're doing such a nice job of keeping things moving. We got good movement with Bill's story this week, Chelsea is attempting to date, Andre and Dani are having tough conversations about their relationship, of course Anita reunited with Sharon. There is *so* much going on and I didn't even cover all of it.  I wish all of the soaps would take a page out of BTG book and start rotating their stories. I love that everybody is getting a chance to shine and they don't just sit on one lead story to the point you get sick of it.
    • Did Jordan Clarke have a departure sometime between 1985 and 1989? I know Robert Newman had three runs: 1981-1984, 1986-1991, 1993-end.
    • Well, they usually weren't on the show at the time for long until the late 90's. But yeah, they really deserved a story centered on them, and not through the lens of Reva.
    • Chelsea was doing the absolute most today! Why was she introducing her sister to a woman she doesnt know? That whole scene was embarrassing. Madison needs to stay away from her bc she is too immature
    • Gosh, what a waste with Lunacy. Why have her live with $B, reveal Finn, pardon her, etc What makes this story incredibly hollow is that what Luna is asking isn't unreasonable - to spend time with her cousin father. She's not asking to move in with them. How hard with it be for Finn to throw her a bone by, say, I'll meet you for lunch/coffee once at week at the hospital cafeteria. Lunacy isn't going to hurt Finn. In fact, all her crimes were related to finding her father and it turns out to be someone she's loved her entire life. Instead of course-correcting the nonsense of last summer, Brad somehow found a way to make this worse! That's a skill... Of all the younger actors B&B has cast during the past 5 years, LY has shown the most growth and range. Why get rid of her?
    • On the subject of sets (seems more interesting to discuss than the actual show)  Some sets we don't see anymore Lauren/Michael apartment (haven't seen that in years) Victoria's house (are Marian/Tessa living there?) Apartment above Crimson Lights (I think Chelsea was the last resident) Penthouse (Lily's home) Chancellor Estate (Devon/Abby) Chancellor office (once Dark Horse) Nick's house GCAC room (used as residence/hotel room for several characters) Some of these may pop up again. The tack house, for example, was not seen for many months before being used again. Have I missed anything?
    • Thanks for searching through everything. Worked on them so long, just too lazy to check for those links myself, so I am glad you chose to do it! I guess I never did type out anything for 1973-1977 in regards to the preemptions, but they are on the charts at least (and this far back, they don't seem to do any of those "breakouts" anymore, so things are simpler in the 1970's, so eventually I could type those out).
    • I dump on the Y&R sets problem all the time, but BOLD is no better -- and they're not even introducing new sets. All of their sets are years old, and very few look like they're inhabited by people with money. Is that going to change with this move? I'd rather they save the money spent on another remote, which is no better than an HGTV travelogue, and get some new/better sets.
    • The donut posts here make up for a Friday show that was barely meh. Aside from seeing Anna, I really didn't care much about anything else. While I understand the thought behind breaking up all the sadness with "other scenes," I'd rather they moved right to John's funeral. Instead of hearing a stupid story about John changing some minor character's tire 20 years ago, just move on to the crying. I also thought the Chad and Cat scenes were a waste. I realize not everyone is devastated by John's death to the point of not functioning, but going sky diving is a choice. By the way, Jack and Jennifer are giving me nothing on this return. Please leave asap. DAYS did such a great job with John's death, so ending the week this way was a letdown.
    • Add Dr. Montgomery to list of fine women on this show! I hope the show goes forward with Madison/Chelsea and then once they're developed, bring back Allison, who is now divorced or a widow, for a Madison/Chelsea/Allison triangle.  It would definitely be the hottest triangle in daytime.
