Didn't AMC's Brooke also get raped (and later underwent an abortion) in '79? I know Eddie Dorrance was her rapist, but I don't recall whether it happened in '78, '79, or '80.

Chit's mentions of Sonny Corinthos's battles with Bipolar Disorder in the GH thread brought to mind Cass Winthrop's similar struggle on ANOTHER WORLD. What did everyone think of that storyline?

I generally don't like PSA stories on soaps especially in recent years because they are so badly done. What do you consider the worst PSA story you've seen on a soap?

Kristina's abuse story on GH. I hated it from the start because it seemed like one of those quick ways to make you like a character type things and it was so unbelievable that some little boy was going to smack around the daughter of a mob boss. It didnt help that said victim was an unlikeable brat who had no sympathy over causing the death of an unborn sibling.

Kristina's abuse story didn't work because they handed Keifer's story over to Maurice. Why did we need to see yet another story of Sonny's abusive childhood when they could have allowed Keifer to realize he is a batterer because of his father and eventually come to terms with it and then maybe he and Krissy could have reconciled?

Were there any PSA stories that anyone LIKED?

AMC's one-two punch of Mark Dalton's drug addiction and Cindy Parker Chandler's AIDS battle. Also, Molly's leukemia -- again, from AMC. Then, as Carl mentioned upthread, most of Marland's ATWT stories that reflected on contemporary issues (although, in retrospect, I could have done without Nancy teaching Lauryn Hill how to read through rap music and Lyla's concern for Indian land rights).

I've only watched parts of the Cass story. I think Stephen Schnetzer did a great job and I think it was done in a way that was a different approach, although I think they gave Cass too many serious/depressing/heavy stories.
