No actually they do. I'm a law student and while I certainly don't know the ins and outs of everything, I do know that literally the first thing they teach in law school is that the elements of a contract claim are (1) existence of a valid contract; (2) breach and (3) damages directly resulting from the breach. Its true that in certain egregious cases you can get punitive damages for more than the actual harm but PP will absolutely have to prove that they suffered actual damages. If they were not harmed by ABCs breach monetarily, they have no case.

The person who breaches always pays it may not be fully what PP is looking for but they always cough up money

Yep, and this actually holds water. And FV/RC's arrogance is on full display again. And add to that ABC gave the URLs back tells me ABC KNOWS it is in deep [!@#$%^&*] on some points. The question is, how important are the points PP has favor with, and how much will it hurt ABC?

Part of the issue, if I were to hazard a guess, is the promise of sharing and having some synergy between nuOLTL and GH. But that meant the OLTL characters. And once RC/FV decided to give the OLTL 3 new character identities, goodbye synergy.

And *if* this is part of it, I don't blame PP. ABC basically reneged. Yes, you can't force the actors to go to PP, but if a binding agreement for the above was in play, the actors should have been [!@#$%^&*] outta luck altogether and BOTH GH/PP would be without them.

In other words, honor the framework as discussed or don't have the actors at all.

Unfair to them? Maybe. But acting is a transient profession even without a situation like this. The three should not have added back to GH in such a case but found roles elsewhere.

Google them though, this disaster is all that comes up.

That whole there is no such thing as bad press isnt true. I highly doubt the masses who never watched either show are going to read about this and suddenly tune into the web soaps. This is however dividing the audience they need to be seeking, the soap fans.

Bottom line AMC & OLTL fans will check the soaps out. If intriqued they will stay. ABC & PP will hash this out. I dont see this lawsuit having a negative effect on the soaps.

I dont think that first part is totally true. A lot of fans have seemed to move on. Some fans seem reluctant or all out against it. I dont think the lawsuit is going to necessarily turn anyone off that was already intending to watch, but I do think that it further draws a line and further forces people to pick a side, and thats not good - for either party involved. I really dont see it as a good thing at all though, as in I dont think the free press of this is going to gain them anything.

Do the masses really factor in for online soap fans though? In the past, the masses were thought of as offliners, but now that they are web shows, what is the masses?

Really? Ratings didnt reflect it, at all.

I dont think another team would have brought any of the OLTLers on, let alone to the extent FR did.

But I also dont see FR/GH/ABC bringing on TK, KDP, Flo, etc... without going through PP. Nor do I think they didnt tell them they were killing cole and hope off (in a easy bring them back way). and the claims that they killed Tomas/revealed him to be Alkie is laughable to anyone who suffered through that awful story, they alluded to - at best - his maybe being alkie, or another brother.

this is... sad. and amusing.

did a angry fanboy write this? seriously.

say what you will about if they have merit or not, they are doing this because they didnt get RH/ME/KA to do their show and ABC didnt give them creative control over the characters on when they could appear on GH and hold them hostage due to scheduling. Thats it. Where FR/GH/ABC screwed up is bringing them all back on the same day. It is just a bitch move, and they knew it - they did it to be spiteful just as PP both sides have been in this disaster.

then those fans never really fought and gave up too easily... you REALLY underestimate soap fans... but why are you griping your show got saved

sorry but you signature gave you away... you are on ABC/GH's side... well it's only natural your soap was saved on the blood of AMC and OLTL

No but ratings wouldn't reflect if anyone cared about these OLTL actors in new roles on GH either (which is the argument those in favour of it always give. I'm talking more about fan goodwill rather than enough to raise ratings.

I don't agree with JP that much--or disagree but I think he's actually a fairly equal soap fan (albeit, I assume, with the biggest connection to DAYS)--I get the impression he has watched all of them depending on specific stories or actors, so I wouldn't say he's on ABC's side

I would wager more don't care than do, but there have been some very vocal ones on FB and the like (OK, so the crazy soap fans) who have gone on about how much GH fans want these actors in any role they can get them lol I know there were many who liked Todd and Carly, but really would bringing on RH as a different (yet probably similar) character be the same? I dunno

    • I’m thoroughly confused why she won’t say anything to Joss. Joss obviously has no intention of telling her.

    • Ted also stays at the hotel and Vernon is probably aware of that. As much as Ted wants to be back in Nicole's good graces he might feel obligated to tell if he saw Vernon coming out of a woman's room since keeping secrets got him in so much trouble before.
    • One more thing on Tuesday's episode, did anyone else notice the weird blocking? Belle and Eric were thanking Sarah, and worrying about Lyme Disease (which must be a red herring, I can't believe we're watching a PSA about inspecting for tics).  Then, Belle turned to EJ and threatened him with a lawsuit.  EJ acted as if he hadn't heard the entire conversation that was happening two inches away from him.   I like EJ, but a little of silly/mean EJ goes a long way.  His sarcasm during that scene felt out of place, regardless of Eric's presence.  When he bugs his eyes, and feigns innocence, it is a little too OTT for my taste.  I understand that he was the punching bag for most scenes, but EJ feels more mature than resorting to funny faces.  Isn't rather quick to worry about Stephanie's sales, she just debuted the book yesterday in their timeline?  And why is everyone against Jada and Theo?  Jada could use a boytoy, and this doesn't feel like a "forever" romance.
    • I dont think he knew Leslie was staying there. I know this is all for the drama and mess which Im here for, but Vernon really could have easily rented a small studio space where he and Sharon could practice lol.
    • I understand that no one could ever replace Bernau, but Ron Raines is somewhat of a different beast. Still great (to me) though. He spent his entire TV run in one role, that was impossible to do justice correctly.
    • Again, Bernau's illness impacted that. It's pretty obvious Pilon was always meant to be temporary. I read an article from that period that said he was working on both Ryan's Hope and GL at the same time. So he wasn't on contract for either show. (Maybe that explains somewhat why his performance was so low energy, because he was overworked doing two soaps). Later, they put him in the opening and in commercials for the show. That must have been because they were certain Bernau was not returning. Around that time, they approached Zaslow about being the permanent replacement for Bernau. He turned them down and suggested coming back as Roger. Pilon stayed so they could re-introduce Roger and write an exit for Alan. I'm guessing if MZ had not wanted to come back, they would have had no choice but to keep Pilon (which I don't think they wanted, or maybe Pilon wasn't interested) or send out a casting call for a new Alan. I think they wanted to avoid that because they were really determined not to let the nature of Bernau's illness to become public knowledge. At this point, they were still keepin up the fiction that he was going to return even while this stuff was happening BTS.   Yeah, it seems crazy now, but people forget how stigmatized AIDS was back then. I'm convinced the idea to ask Zaslow to take the role came about so they could replace Bernau as quietly as possible. Everyone would have been so surprised it would have taken the focus off Bernau not returning. It makes a kind of twisted sense. Still, thank goodness Zazlow said no and they said yes to his suggestion to return as Roger. The way everything worked out gave GL a few more strong years. I guess it's the nature of soaps, you never know what things in real life will end up strongly impacting the show, both negatively and positively. (Something just occurred to me. If Zazlow HAD said yes to playing Alan...he would have had to play being in love with Reva.
