It's still really unusual that of all people to come back we got Leigh McCloskey of that really lame Kurt/Hope/Ashley story to come back.

I wonder if they realized he was on the show before when they asked him to come?....Have they ever bought back people that were only on the show for less then a year? I don't mean just Y&R, but the other soaps

I know of a few instances on different soaps, even on Y&R where it has happened too. Sometimes it can be very strange(See ATWT's Pilar Domingo and Days' Andre DiMera), sometimes minimal. In the cases of Y&R, I know David Shark Fralick's return of Larry turned into a nice memorable recurring gig for a few years but otherwise I can think of Reya Meddine's Sabrina's ghost appearances and maybe could Gladis Jimeniz's guest stint in 2002. Oh and we had Laura Stone as Skye too.

B&B's Whip was another one.

Exactly, and no JILL for the anniversary month is really tragic. I wonder if it was only due to Jeanne Cooper being sick.
