GH: OLTL 3 (ACTORS) return

I don't think it was so much about making OLTL fans happy, because I don't know if all that much "Cartini" have done with the characters has tickled OLTL fans pink - it's mostly a sea of dead babies, Roger Howarth Paul Lynde-ing it 2002 style, and McBain dumping his child for a mediocre PC retread.

I think it was about Ron and Frank saying hey this is mine, this is mine, let me show you that this is mine, no one else's. It never seemed to be about what would work, either for GH or for OLTL's memory.

I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to be sensitive. My point is that Ron/Frank are very loyal to OLTL and were supposed to go over to the Prospect Park version of the show. It wasn't until the deal fell apart that they went over to GH. Naturally, Frank would want to keep a piece of OLTL alive. At that point, it was dead. So he tried to weave in some characters from OLTL to bring those fans to GH and basically make the angry fans happy. I think it was actually done with the best of intentions and clearly to please the ABCDaytime audience, which, of all the networks, have the most loyalty to the shows on that network.

Now that Prospect Park has come back into the picture, the whole thing is a mess and it's pretty clear that ABC is who's fighting dirty, not Frank & Ron. Your post implies that Frank & Ron are the villains here, which I don't believe to be the case.

I apologize for making any kind of personal attack. Maybe I am a little sensitive lately, but I'm no spazz and I certainly didn't go below the belt with you. But your comment was snarky, twitter-ish, and it isn't the first time you've done it to me this week or this month. It was also misinformation and an attempt to make it look as though I don't know what I'm talking about, when I obviously am a veteran soap fan and have quite the handle on the situation. I don't wish to mince words or start a war with you, but I do speak my mind and always have on this board. Hence why I joined in 2003 and started posting. smile.png

haha no worries and I apologize if you've felt that way. I'll try and be more conscientious before I post with you bc I wasn't aware I was doing anything out of the ordinary. I've never been accused of being Twitterish. That's like the ultimate insult with me.....lol j/k

I love this thread. Someone mentioned to me that its shaping up to look like a Real Housewives reunion and its so true. Random drama with different people coming from different angles

You are so bad!

VH, girl you really are enjoying this, aren't you? As long as you are aware that KDP is only sabotaging herself. She's making it so that no one will accept her in any pairing. If I were any future male co-star, how do I approach an onscreen relationship when I know this woman would rather be anywhere but in a scene with me? It ruins the fantasy for the audience when they know that at least one person hates doing what they are doing and makes it difficult for Mrs. DePaiva to have a job in this industry, especially at 52 years old! She needs to move forward and try to make it work with whomever she's paired with. Leave TnB in the past and sell the hell out of Blair and whomever! That's my advice to her.

In regards to the original topic, yes, I'm enjoying the fact that Todd Manning is no longer involved in the fuckery that Ron is trying to peddle in vain. While I'm most interested in seeing ME & KM reunite on screen (for real this time, Ron), I've taken a wait-and-see stance on KA since I've never seen her play another character.

In regards to what this thread has spun off to, absolutely. KdP knows the value of her character and T&B and cares enough about both that she's willing to (rightfully) call Cartini out on their bullshit. As a fan of hers, her character's, and that pairing, I definitely love the fact that she is calling it as it really is and not what half-assed retcon they're trying to make it out to be. In an age where soap actors go along with whatever just to collect a check, seeing one fight for what's right thrills me.

Furthermore, I'm not sure why you'd believe that KdP wouldn't sell her next pairing, as she's had no problem doing it through her 20 years playing Blair Cramer. Sure, she's always maintained that Todd is the love of Blair's life, but I've never once seen her tank a pairing and I can't see that changing with this new regime.

VH, exactly how is KDP showing that she knows the value of Blair when all she's done is scream to whomever will listen, "I'm nothing without Roger Howarth".

Her loser behavior needs to stop!

Simple - because she isn't willing to roll over and pretend that Blair Cramer is interchangeable with any lesser characters* like Cartini would like her to.

*and yes, I recognize the irony of denying Blair's interchangeability since KdP is a recast, but she's more than made Blair her own in the two decades that she's been on air.

I can't believe this conversation is still going on.

I can. It still interests some and we wish to discuss it.

Was that before or after she was begging for a spot on GH? She was so happy to be joining GH and FRon were the second coming until they showed that they only needed her to put a big fat PERIOD to TnB!

I just marathoned Beverly Hills (I was DVR-less for a period there- painful time). Maybe I'm in Resnick mode. ;)

If people need more to talk about you can discuss my amazing, stupendous ideas for new GH characters, on the first page.

I agree with this. I would have never known that KdP was this into Blair and Todd from what was on screen. She always seemed into each pairing as far as I could tell.

That's because she's a fantastic actress. I never doubt that KDP can get the job done. However, Blair can move on as much as she wants, but when Todd gets a love interest? KDP goes bonkers, and this is the worst yet. Will she sell the love interest onscreen? Absolutely, but will the fans care when she's done nothing but talk about TnB and how they belong together forever and ever? KDP just makes things harder on herself. Her time should be spent making certain this new show is successful and moving past Roger! Forget what he's doing on GH and who with!
