My little cousins do them on FB, I'm really not clear. They seem like picture texts where the words are on the actual picture.

You post pictures instead of statuses basically.Your timeline will consist of just pictures.

I don't get it myself. Seems like a site to upload photos and add graphic filters

It's a photo sharing website where you add your photos, optionally add color filters to them & then share them universally on social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, etc.

A lot of people use it to just post random, often times "sexy" pictures of themselves in hopes of gaining followers who fawn over them. See: this woman

Others, known as Hipsters, use it to simply post stuff like the delicious, awesome meal they have the privilege of eating. See this link: http://www.sadanduseless.com/2013/02/hipster-food/

It's twitter, just for pictures. You can also put "effects" on the pictures and add text captions. You can also post instagram pictures to Twitter and Facebook. Your timeline is made up of just pictures from the people you follow. I love it.

Yeah, it's basically a picture uploading website (I think pics from your phone?) with filters and stuff. I think it used to be part of twitter but now it's its own thing?

I always see people posting pictures of their food on there, lol. I don't understand that. Like, I don't need to see the salad you had for lunch,

I've only taken pictures of my food when what I was eating was unusual or extraordinary. Like, Andrew Zimmern or Adam Richman, they deserve to post pictures of every meal. (On a related note, I think it's annoying when my fat Facebook friends make status updates about the "Yummy!" healthy dinners they make. It seems so sad and desperate, like they're really trying to convince themselves and the rest of us of something. At least they're trying, I guess.)

I have to like when I went to New Orleans not too long ago, but I never posted it online. It was purely for my own memories

If I remember right Facebook bought Instagram and for awhile was going to make it so that people's pictures could be used by anyone, people left the site and they backed off from that. There was a huge backlash against it, even celebs who used it, quit and went to other picture sharing sites

I remember that dragonflies, Kim Kar-ian was vocally against it. The whole thing about FB selling your pictures is probably true. Some actors in a play in D.C. spotted one of their cast photos being used in an online spoof article about Lindsay Lohan with Lindsay's face photoshopped onto one of the actors.
