I really wouldn't be at all comfortable seeing the younger Mannings in potential nudity situations. Or Laura Harrier, frankly. Love scenes are one thing, if done tastefully with the very young teens. But I'd ease them into stuff like that.

Robert Gorrie OTOH is old enough for love.

I think for them (Kelley and Andrew) they might not show them nude, but probably under the covers, and the love scenes will hopefully not be completely graphic

As long as the actors are comfortable with nudity, I am ok showing it. However, I dont want to just see Matt walk around Naked cause they can. I want it to fit into the scene

It will be weird to see them nude..

Melissa Archer's bare breasts would rock my many a world and would be a terrific lure for soap opera's lost '80s straight male college audience. That said, the prospect of nudity on these shows gives me a real mental/moral conflict as soap operas have never been my destination porn, nor have I ever wanted them to be. There are other, and better, outlets for that. This is a topic where we (I?) would really have to look at these shows as true reinterpretations of their original selves. Honestly, I think it would actually be more palatable if newbie actors/characters like nuDestiny were the ones doing nude scenes because seeing the actors we're so accustomed to seeing in daytime in a more salacious light will probably come across as terribly gratuitous. Seeing Erika Slezak's knockers is like nude Kathy Bates in that hot tub scene. More about shock value and, "Wow, good fo her owning her sexuality!" rather than lending anything of merit to the narrative.

ABC really did let their soaps go to [!@#$%^&*]. So much so that we act like getting people who can simply do their jobs well is something to praise.

I hope these shows will appreciate the difference between organic vulgarity and simply cursing because you can. I've seen enough cable shows have everyone say the f-word and the s-word and all the words in-between to know the difference.

And I hope the nudity is kept to a minimum or at least not salacious because honestly, I can get that stuff on the next tab over.

I want good stories, good characterization and something to keep me coming back to hulu.com everyday. They WILL need captivating cliffhangers (something AMC practically abandon in it's final years), they don't have the luxury of being a program on the glowy box in the middle of the room.

Agreed.

Seeing Jessica Morris's bare titties in Role Models a few years ago damn near scarred my life. Then I saw Alice Barrett from Another World butt-ass naked sitting on a toilet in Choke. I don't want to consider that prospect with someone who I truly love, like Melissa Archer.

I don't mind nudity in films or television at all - I'm all for it. And I'm all for some tasteful nudity in OLTL and AMC. But when you come from a place where it's covered up for so long, suddenly seeing [!@#$%^&*] hanging out there with certain characters you've watched five days a week for years would be kind of a shock to the system for me with a lot of them. Not all of them, but some who are like 'family' in that silly old way soap fans have of loving a character or actor.

Rob Wilson or Robert Gorrie, or the new JR OTOH, bring it.

You are going to get ver Dorn motorboating Strasser's surgically enhanced mams, and you are going to LOVE it. Ya got that!?[/@Victor.Newman]

Yeah it will be a shock... Will take some time getting used to it, but there are certain actors you wouldn't mind seeing more skin from

My thing with nudity and swearing is that I don't want it for shock value. You can keep boxers on the guys and show a lot of skin. Bill Bell was good about having his characters near naked all the time, men and women. That was fine. I also loved the lack of clothes on Carlivati's OLTL. I don't want it to come off cheesy like Venice where they curse just to curse and it seems so unnatural and takes you out of a scene. You can see it in films and on cable and it works, but it needs to be organic and not all the time. I get the bad feeling these soaps will make it cheesy. Especially if the shows are still produced in the dated studio format. It just won't seem natural.

Yeah, the cursing on the amateur websoaps is unbearably cheesy, like adolescents trying to be cool. I hope it's more organic in the show.

Yeah. This.

I don't want them doing the nudity and swearing "just because". Sure it's fun and I'm very happy about how few restrictions they have and I love that they recognize they are now competing with not just daytime ... however, I don't want the shows mentality to be all about SEX SEX SEX. I can watch porn for that.

I just have a hard time imagining Dixie swearing up and down and disrobing, for example (though I COULD see Cady doing it LOL). IDK. It's weird just because daytime isn't known for true nudity and swearing. I'm far from a prude but I am a little concerned they seemed so focused on pushing the boundaries. I want great storylines, too. I'm sure it will all be fine, but still, I know they need NEW fans but they also can't heavily offend the older ones either. You just know some of those crazies aren't gonna be down for this.

And I think confusion stemed from the article because, and I just re-read it, there was no mention of a continuation/part two at all.

And look, I never really call anyone out but is anyone else still creeped out by the AT obsession? I'm sure it's all good fun Cassadine1991 but it's ALL THE TIME lol. It's kind of creepy. I don't care what age you are.

I can't wait until we start getting actual storyline previews for these shows. That will be the true test. I don't want to hear about how they're swearing and sexing things up. I want to read in depth interviews with the Headwriters so I know what their vision is and what stories they're planning to tell. That's how these shows will live or die.

I thought the half-naked men on OLTL were about as sexy as root rot. I will never quite forget seeing those poor actors like Josh Kelley and whoever played James having to wander around in ill-fitting underwear that looked like it was picked out of a pile five minutes before taping.

if they want to have nudity they should look at some of the German soaps, which, from the little I've seen, make their nude sequences seem natural - at times funny, other times erotic, other times a combo of both.

Yeah, as long as it's natural and fits, I'm fine with it. I hate them doing it just for the sake of doing it. Like you said, it was ridiculous all of the time to see the men all greased up, shaved and put on display. Yeah, it's sometimes nice but it was often clearly just for the sake of doing it.

I hope we get some storyline previews soon, though I'm honestly OK with not having any spoilers and HAVING to watch. They'd probably be smart to just give vague spoilers and previews when needed to just promote the storyline.

I agree do the nudity as long as its natural to the scene on the screen
