AMC: The Prospect Park Era (old production thread)

Ha the Kendall double was hysterically bad. Oh Pratt--I had forgotten whatshername from OLTL was briefly on AMC.

I thought she was as bad as AM when she first started, which leads me to believe they found this girl when they were looking for possible replacements during AM's contract negotiations (when Kendall was in the coma).

New Canaan? These people are getting the "Idyllic" Connecticut.

Hopefully that can ease my concerns about a Peapack-esque outdoors shot, or that park [!@#$%^&*] they did in L.A.

Oh my, It all feels so real now. I could almost cry seeing that pic of Debbie and Darnell (can't wait to make fun of his hammy acting again)

AMC is coming back y'all!!!

It makes me so happy to see that David Canary is loving this.

The problem with soaps in recent years is their inability to build a strong younger cast. Does anyone really remember or care about the young people that were on AMC at the end?

And frankly the only vet this new AMC is missing is Susan Lucci. They have SUCH a strong core of characters of AMC cast members back. Frankly the people others are clamoring to have back (Jack, Tad, etc.) are played out and need a nice, long rest.

I think it's essential to have Erica or Bianca back soon. Miranda - and Bianca and Kendall in short stints - will work for now. Then again, I think Susan Lucci got horribly shafted and very publicly betrayed by ABC upon cancellation, an institution she gave her entire adult life to. I think she deserves a break and freedom, and I think the show also needs room to breathe and re-evolve.

What's most important to remember is that AMC was built on a vital, hip teen scene for its age. It was the alternative, and it worked. I just went back and watched a clip from 1970 with Erica and Chuck in the soda shop today. This is something Agnes repeatedly went back to every time she moved to refurbish and renovate the show - new youth ensembles, over and over - and it's something she repeatedly worked (with less success) to do with her little half-hour, Loving, which we've discussed recently in that cancelled soap thread. This is a natural progression, and the fact that AMC was unable to properly utilize any teen characters in its last years on ABC - wasting talent like Finn Wittrock, Bobby Steggert, Yaya Dacosta, Michael Jordan, even the mercurial Leven Rambin - was a major problem.

Maya (and to a much lesser extent, Asher) was pretty well-received on SON, though SON is rarely representative of the fanbase at large. Damon was liked, too.

And I totally agree about the vets thing. Susan Lucci is the only must as far as vets they need to bring back. Anyone else is either lagniappe or needs a break, and I'm over the moon that MEK has acknowledged that he (and Tad) need a break. The character was disgusting and made me sick at the end.

Isn't the mansion that they used for Cortlandt manor in New Canaan? Not saying that they're shooting there, before somebody puts words in my mouth.

Maybe they just shot some location scenes to be edited into episodes

Loved Maya, couldn't have cared less for Asher, and Damon I totally warmed up to after his first few weeks of seeming stiff and superfluous.
