Ruth's one of those characters who can easily survive in the offscreen world on Pine Valley. If I'm not mistaken, a couple years went by with no Ruth. Joe just always mentioned her, but you never saw her.

Yes, Ruth was taking care of her sick aunt while Mary Fickett was tending to her ill husband. AMC eventually decided that they wanted Ruth back and that led to Lee Meriwether's hiring (which shocked me about as much as Joan Collins as Alexandra).

i want to see Dixie visually traumatized from pancakes. I have to say, other than Susan Lucci, AMC has all the essential characters back. And yes, I know Tad isn't there, Tad needs a rest. I'm more excited about this cast than OLTL's at this point.

ITA. Tad & Erica were the 2 I most wanted back, but the returns of Adam, Brooke and Dixie make up for them to me. I don't want to start a fanwar, but I also like the AMC cast better than OLTL's at this point.
