Members AdelaideCate007
We'd make an awesome team! I was definitely hardcore about the Tiffany love back then and my family just used to hate her on constantly. I remember standing in the lounge room with my stepmother just screaming at the top of lungs about how I wanted them to stop being "mean" about Tiffany and that it wasn't my fault that they didn't understand how awesome she was. Add me to the Erica obsessed.
Members EnglishTea
I played sick to stay home for Luke and Laura's wedding. I used an audio tape recorder to tape scenes prior to having a VHS. I wrote my first AMC fanfic at 15 and sent it to all the writers of AMC. I got most, but not all, of them back in the mail. In college, I did a scene from Y&R on video tape during one of those college campus tours.
Members Mr. Vixen
I did a presentation on acting a while back and used Karen Wolek on the stand and Skye Quartermaine on the stand as my video examples.
Members SFK
When the VCR wasn't working, I set the video camera up to record the TV. #ghetto

Members Cheap21
I had a soap opera that used to play out in my head. It was made up of various real soap operas characters tweaked and retrofitted to my imagination. the ultimate soap crossover! Damn, that is some ghetto ish right there. Ive missed work before so I could stay home and watch my soaps live
Members SFK
I've done Abby's "Everything I have, I've earned. Everything you have, you've been given." monologue for at least two auditions.
Members yr9190
Going back to what i said about resentng some younger actors who aren't on soaps, but I also believe that not one single actor is ever lucky until they worked with Jeanne Cooper, Jess Walton, Kimberlin Brown, Tracey Bregman, Tricia Cast, Victoria Rowell, Susan Flannery, Christian LeBlanc, Doug Davidson etc... Members AdelaideCate007
On the first day of year 1, I told the teacher and the whole class I wanted I grow up to be either Felicia Gallant or Julia Wainwright. When we were sitting shiva after my grandmother died, I faked being sick and went to my room and watched Nikki get shot on Y&R with the volume down really low. Members SFK
We had to write in Journals in elementary school, I still have all of mine. One morning in the third grade, we were having a half-day and the Journal topic was, "What are you going to do for rest of the day?" I wrote that I was going to play with my friends and watch two soap operas with my great-grandparents, Loving and All My Children.
Members All My Shadows
In high school, I used to imagine my daily life as a soap opera. In my head, our fight song was the theme music, opening credits, etc, and in tense moments, a part of me would always imagine how the camera would be angled, what background music would be playing. One semester, I had to walk across a courtyard to one of my classes, and I always imagined the closing credits would play over a wide shot of me traversing the courtyard, complete with a slow, soapy version of the fight song as the closing music. I even created a document on my computer that summarized all of the daily high school drama, transcriptions of confrontations from memory, etc. I hate the fact that I deleted that when I graduated, because all I'd have to do is change the names and send that ish to Hollywood. I got into a mild argument with my history teacher because when we covered soaps, he said that ATWT was the world's first soap. He was my FAVORITE teacher but he was also douchey at times, so I tried to be as respectful as possible, but he got annoyed and tried to make me look like a dumbass by mentioning long-gone soaps like Edge of Night and Secret Storm, and I'm just chilling like..."Yeah, Edge started in April of '56, and Storm began in February of '54. Shall I continue?" The jocks in my class just shook their heads and rolled their eyes.

Members AdelaideCate007
That's a cute story. I was somewhere with this girl I was mates with and her mother (who didn't watch Another World), and I was telling the girl about Frankie dying and Sharlene's DID. I guess her mum didn't realise I wasn't talking about people I actually knew because when she brought me home she was like "Addie was telling us something very disturbing and interesting about some people you know....." and my stepmother was like "Uh she was talking about Another World. We know no one who was murdered or anyone with DID."
Members Eric83
I used to act out soap operas using my family as the characters and created several other core families too. It was set in upstate New York lol
Members All My Shadows
I think my work drama will be my second chance at breaking into the business Another one: my mother wasn't too keen on my watching soaps when I was like 12-13 years old, and at this point, I'd been deeply psychologically conditioned to NEVER want to make my parents mad, so I'd watch my daily tape of AMC/DAYS like it was porn. I'd keep my finger on the Stop button, keep the volume low (because soaps have that soapy sound), etc. I used to treat SON and other soap sites like they were Corbin Fisher, always minimizing them when I heard footsteps, deleting them from my history whenever I had to use my mother's internet, etc. To this day, it's still awkward for me to have a soap on while she's in the room, and she's still completely oblivious to the volumes upon volumes of soap knowledge I possess.
