I'm really trying not to get excited but another thing that makes me happy is that PP started with characters based around the hospital (David, Angie and Cara) and not Fusion. Hopefully that wretched nest of stiletto-clad harpies will be left by the wayside.

Is Budig on the east coast? I could see her doing it, she's not doing much else and I know Agnes really loves Greenlee.

I always liked Greenlee especially during the brief times when she was not with Ryan. I think she would be more likable if they included her with the Scott/Madison/Frankie group instead of the same Kendall/Ryan group. She could be Scott/Madison/Frankie's "Rich/Snob" friend. Maybe a triangle between Greenlee Scott, and Madison.

AMC's PP opening should be a new jazzed/rocked up version of the original AMC opening with the album spinning/flipping and bursting open with tons of pictures flying out and slo-mo raining down the screen with all of the cast members, special emphasis on Susan, they get vacuum sucked back into the book, the book closes shut: All My Children

If I had my druthers, any new opening for ALL MY CHILDREN would be a simple update of the first one: different desk, different lamp, maybe sunlight beaming in from a nearby window, but the same hand (Agnes') opening the same photo album to the same page with the same theme playing underneath.

Marceline, Hartley is confirmed and Morgan swore up and down that Williams had signed on and mentioned their happy reactions they shared together but that's essentially correct.

I can't imagine they'd approach Knight and not McClain. Who else do you guys think they approached from the final cast?

Sigh. I really don't want Cady McClain back. According to everything I've heard, she has a tendency to latch onto whomever she views as the newest, bestest male lead and demand that she be paired with him. In the 80s it was MEK, in the late 90s/early 2000s, it was VI. When Dixie came back from the dead it was TK. I don't want to see that. If they're going to take CM back as Dixie, then CM needs to get over it and just accept that no one wants to see Dixie attempt to be Erica or Kendall or Greenlee or anyone else but the next coming of Ruth Freaking Martin. I would love to have Tad back, but I really don't care about Dixie. Supposedly her behind the scenes demands pissed off enough people that she was eventually killed off twice because TPTB got tired of dealing with her.

From the final cast? Susan Lucci of course. I'd assume they're talking to Thorsten Kaye and Alicia Minshew. Both of them are based on the east coast, so I could see this being an attractive option for them. I would also assume they're talking to Rebecca Budig. My guess is that they're at least considering having someone as Bianca/Marissa/JR given how those three drove the finale. I would think if they're bringing Jesse and Angie on board they'll want to have part of the Hubbard family intact. Considering that Cam Mathison signed before, I assume they're talking to him, but he may no longer be interested. I'm fine with Ryan not being on the show, and I'm fine with it being left open-ended where he left town or something. I would hope that they're talking to David Canary and Julia Barr about appearing on recurring status. I know DC is semi-retired, but he and JB are both based on the east coast, so it would be easier for them to appear on the show.

Characters I don't care about seeing: Dixie, Maya, Ryan, Cara (not thrilled that Dr. Mascara is coming back), Madison, Scott, Caleb, Marion, Stuart, Amanda, KWAK, and Asher.

Darnell Williams has signed on?

I tend to want CM back but not so much MEK. Tad lost most of his verve and purpose long ago (and I don't blame that on Dixie, as I saw little even in the years she was away), and the character often veers toward self-righteous ass.

I think Cady's a fantastic actress, and I wish they could find a way to show more sides to Dixie without having her become cold and hard, as she did in that 2006 return.

But since this reboot likely won't have any of Dixie's family, or the Chandlers, if it happens, I don't know what purpose she'd have.

What I most want to see for that group of characters - and what won't happen, but it doesn't hurt writing it down - is for Will to come back from the dead. I think yet another return from the dead story and also yet another rape revisitation saga would be worth it for the material it would provide with Dixie, Skye, and others.

I really don't want Cady McClain back.

Neither do I. Dixie stopped being one of my favorite characters a long time ago. However, if MEK's return is a sure thing, then which other options do we have? Kill her off again? Send her out of town permanently? As much as I don't care for Dixie, I also don't believe it's fair to keep yanking apart her and Tad, at least not to their fans (...if they're still out there).

Frankly, PP was better off not inviting back MEK. That way, you could say that, in the intervening period from the ABC finale, Dixie and Tad decided to move their family away from Pine Valley.

I wish they would have a Hillary/Tad/Dixie triangle or a HIllary/Tad/Dixie/David quad.

I have absolutely no desire to see Dixie ever, ever again. I like Cady but I feel like Dixie is complete played out. I was terribly disappointed with her role in AMC's final days. Her convoluted, rushed resurrection, the insane way everyone just accepted that she was back as if she'd only been away traveling, the way Tad/Cara was aborted just to accommodate her return, the contrived engagement...all of it was just awful.

Frankly I don't think the show "needs" Tad either. I agree with Carl that he tends toward self-righteousness especially where David is concerned and he has an uncanny ability to infect other characters with the same quality (see Jesse vs. David). For me, Tad's only value is in his friendship with the Hubbards and his past relationship with Cara which I found unexpectedly sweet. The character itself became little more than a white Heathcliff Huxtable.

Krystal can take her place as the new Mrs. Tad Martin for the second time, raising their daughters together

So just to recap, the AMC cast list thus far is VI and DM (confirmed) and Hartley, Knight, Williams (rumored), right? Am I missing anyone?

I have to admit that I am utterly stunned that we haven't heard anything about Mathison signing. I'll be interested to see who among the younger set they approach. They'll have to rebuild the young Hubbards from scratch but nothing would make me happier than if they make them a nice big core family like the Martins. They need to recast all the Hubbard kids which makes me sad because I loved Smith, Kane and Martinez so much but I welcome the chance to find new actors (and characters) to love. I can think of a number of theatre actors in NYC that I would enjoy try these roles.

In addition, the diversity activist in me is very, very happy. I'm cautiously optimistic that the signing of the Hubbards and Cara first means that PP will throw off the lead weight of ABC-enforced homogeneity that helped destroy these shows.

CONFIRMED: Lindsay Hartley, Vincent Irizarry, Debbi Morgan and Darnell Williams (Williams is confirmed based on Morgan's tweets).

As for Cameron Mathison, while I'm sure he'd love to do it, he's been having semi-success at ABC with his work with "Good Morning America." He seems like the person who most likely won't do it this time around because of his job prospects, but you never know. He did sign up the first time (was the first one actually).

I wish they would have a Hillary/Tad/Dixie triangle or a HIllary/Tad/Dixie/David quad.

One thing's for sure: with no Brian Scott Frons around anymore to interfere, if PP's AMC ever attempted such a story, we might get one that's weighted equally and fairly, with no one going psycho in order to prop this-or-that pairing (...maybe).

Of course, PP might prove to be just as harmful as ABCD/Frons, in which case, "no" to all that, because the very last thing I'd want is for Hillary to lose her [!@#$%^&*] and attempt to kill Dixie. Hillary was too good for that mess, and Dixie just ain't worth the killin'.
