HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

I don't even have a smartphone, so there. But I do have a Kindle for e-reading and Tivos for DVRs so not quite so old-school.

I get news updates on my iPad/iPhone from the NY Times, 7online (WABC), ABC News, etc. I don't watch the news on TV. It's more graphic than graphic films.

I'd probably rely on Yahoo front page. My main email is Gmail, so I don't even check my Yahoo every day. How sad if all the big world events I learned about on Facebook.

Please, I'm so old school, I still read books printed on paper. Now THAT is old school.

Maybe they should put AMC on Comedy Central.

Last night, I caught some of Flowers in the Attic on cable. It would have been right at home on Comedy Central. That movie had me sticking up for soaps so hard.

Please, I'm so old school, I read them by candlelight one page a night as not to disturb the binding of the papyrus.

I own tons of actual books, that's why for so long I didn't want anything to do with kindle or nook. nothing to me beats the feeling of actually getting to hold the book in your hand :P

I tend to be a few technological generations behind. When everyone was first getting an iPod I was just starting to use a discman, when peopl ehad discmen growing up I still made mixed tapes and used a walkman, lol. No Smart Phone and I can't see myself ever learning to enjoy reading books online--I like physical books too much (prob famous last words). Not sure I could see myself curling up with a Kindle in bed the way I do with a book.

Agreed. I'd still prefer a physical book over digital copy as I find it easier to get into the world of the words. I'd only want a digital copy if I'm on the go, but then there are too many distractions around. I'd buy digital mostly for cost, and physical mostly for cleansing the mind when alone. I don't know why they don't just let you buy a physical book and get a digital copy for a little extra fee. That way they get money from both streams.

I read some comics and a lot of manga--and I know Marvel anyway now gives you a free digital copy when you buy a comic from them. But I find comics especially hard to read over a long time online (there are a number of manga series that will never be officially translated to English but fans make, more or less illegal fan done "scanlations" to download--and I've downloaded a number I've always wanted to read, but never seem to make it through any that go longer than 100 or so pages without just getting tired--and most manga runs are well over 100 pages...)

Wasn't Wes Craven originally meant to make it and even dida draft? The bad thing about that movie is they took such tawdry (and I mean that in a good way, I think) material, where basically the only real appeal was how over the top and shocking it was--and then got scared off and completely watered the material down.
