HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

ABC has a contract with Michael Easton, Roger Howarth and Kristen Alderson. As long as ABC deems it, they will have jobs. However, Prospect Park licensed the rights to their characters. If they (and ABC) don't move over to OLTL via Prospect Park, ABC is contractually obligated to create new characters (or old) for them. Otherwise, if they lose their jobs...it's ABC's fault. They knew it was a loan and not something permanent, yet they still brought them onto the show.

so what do you think will happen? It sounds like Gh is releasing them if they have been told they are not allowed in the building after Feb 8th

Michael Easton signed before with Prospect Park the first time they made these online plans. Now, he can't just go back to "One Life to Live" even if he wanted to because he's under contract with ABC.

ABC would have to let him move over and he'd have to agree. We don't, currently, know the view points of the actors on this matter.

but don't you think if the actors wanted to go to PP, there would be no issue? They would leave GH and go to PP

There are a lot better actors in New York than Easton.

and there a lot better actors on Mars than Melissa Archer

Not if ABC wouldn't let them out of their contracts they couldn't.

you just want John back because you think he needs to kiss that liar Natalie's ass, after what she did to him with Brody, he needs to kick her to the curb, oh I hope GH keeps Easton and finds an actor with the talent of say the actor who plays Jack to play John, let him read off cue cars and everything, can't wait to see that couple fail big time, do you think Melissa Archer wants a recast John or do you think she would like to work with Michael Easton or maybe get a brand new love interest if she can't work with Easton's John?

Whoa. A little bit hostile. I could say that you only want him to bang Samsel.

I don't care if John and Natalie reunite. I've explained my main reason. I don't want any remnants of OLTL left under Cartini's creative control. I'm perfectly happy for all three actors to remain with GH. But not the characters. Barring that. If GH by hook or crook manages to keep the characters, I never want any of them to set foot in Llanview. No crossovers. No mentions. Nothing.

They're departure won't make or break GH either. GH will be fine. The saviors of the soap world are reviving PC. The livers never nudged the numbers. The characters belong to OLTL. Maybe the recasts will freshen them up. I quite look forward to seeing a new face for John.

Actually I think it will. One Life fans that came to the show will tune out. And soaps barely have credibility nowadays, so implanting these three actors in a role shortly after leaving another role will cause ruckus too. One Life can do just fine without them. They did about 30 years before Todd was even a thought on the show.

The bottom line is that Ron and Frank believed - with good reason at the time - that they were all that was left to shepherd OLTL and its legacy, and potentially keep it preserved for the future. Which is an admirable move IMO. But they knew this could happen, and now it's no longer up to them what happens to OLTL. They wove elements OLTL into their new show, but OLTL now belongs to another party who's come back into the picture. Whether or not they will be a good custodian remains to be seen. But RC and FV took up the job which wasn't theirs to keep forever.

so if PP is so damn wonderful, how come Easton, Alderson and Howarth don't want to go and PP is trying to bully them into joining?

How do you know they don't want to go? Where is the evidence they are being bullied? All I see are three actors who are just biding their time and cashing their checks while the lawyers and accountants work stuff out and a whole lot of drama queens on the internet who are losing their minds.

As Khan would attest, Marlene McPherson is a lot easier to bury alive in order to intimidate her to do your bidding than, say, a Roger Howarth or Michael Easton.

Not if ABC wouldn't let them out of their contracts they couldn't.

but that's what confuses me, they have no jobs for them so what is ABC doing here, paying them to sit around and wait for the lawyers and if PP doesn't budge, then what

The recasts won't freshen them up, it'll be the one thing that makes people tune out. You don't recast a character like Todd, TSJ in the role(the writing for him) is proof of that.

Again these characters belong where they're accepted and in general from what I"m reading most GH'ers only want Starr gone, and seem to want Todd and John to stick around

So should Skye go back to AMC cause she belongs to them(as she originated there) :nbe:

I would love a recast for John.

It doesn't really matter what GH fans want. Or what OLTL fans want. Only what pp wants and believes is necessary for their success i believe they said these characters are ""essential". Why should pp care more about what GH fans want than their own "hopefully" loyal viewers? That would be asinine.

yeah I get the impression Easton and Howarth do not like to be told they have to do something

How did anyone "know this could happen" when everyone had given up on PP even the actors who signed. Even their biggest fan gurl Kassie DePaiva had basically written PP off.

name me 1 person on this board who though "this could happen" I doubt there's one
