Members DRW50
Do they even know what type of job this man did before they ask to hire Wendy Riche?
Members Khan
I'm very glad to hear AMC and OLTL won't be re-done telenovela-style. I realize that that's the trend these days, but, gosh, whatever happened to predictability good, old-fashioned storytelling? (P.S.: I know what happened. I just wanted to drop a "Full House" reference.) Isn't Carole Shure doing the same job as Stephen McDermott? Or do I have that wrong as well? Oh, okay, lol. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't spreading something here that was inaccurate.
Members marceline
You mean the kind that goes on forever and never ends? Because to me good, old-fashioned storytelling has a beginning, middle and end.

Members Khan
But what if you can't get any Kanes, Martins or Chandlers? If this reboot is a solid "go," but no one else from the previous cast roster is willing to sign on, what would you do? Would you see if any former AMC cast members ("former," meaning, from years past) were interested in coming aboard? Would you create new characters to interact with the ones who are set to return? Or would you do a combination of the two?
Members EricMontreal22
I really hope, if this holds any truth, it doesn't mean the first major story arc we get on OLTL (if they still are doing arcs--which makes sense) is all about these characters. I mean with under two hours of programming per week (and if the ad/show ratio is close to daytime programming we'll actually get more like 80 minutes a week), I'd like to see new stories take the majority of the time--if that makes sense. Members marceline
I would go with a combination of recasts and new characters.
Members EricMontreal22
Okay so AMC's cast is... That's why I'm pretty certain we'll see some majopr names (or characters recast) pretty soon. Agnes and everyone else knows that there has to be a bit more of a fabric. It doesn't worry me at all (at this point...)
Members Khan
Oh, wait. Sylvester got his info on the no-telenovela thing from Nellie Branco? Never [!@#$%^&*] mind. New characters? Such as...? Also, who would you recast (provided, the original actor is unavailable or unwilling to sign on)? (Not trying to start anything, marceline. I'm just curious.) Members John
Ok for the martins I would return Kelsey & Tara. If none of Tara's can return how about Colleen Zenk. Im ure TC Warner would be up to do Kelsey again. I also think MEK will sign on, Cady too. Recast Jamie. Bring back Jenny & Kate. Maybe Jeff can return as well.& can fall for Krystal. Recast Jake & amanda Ok how about for the cortlandts Bobby & Petey return. Maybe battle over Cortlandt Electronics. Maybe Nina can come back on a recuring basis. Then that gives Opal another connection Now the Tylers maybe Chuck can return to the hospital with his wife, Donna. Maybe Emily Ann is out of the nut house & better or is she. Maybe she wants Jake back. Bianca and Kendall are also needed to helm the Kane's even if recasts. Recast Marissa too & age Miranda a bit Not ll of these have to be contract roles. In fact if actors on AMC are wary, then PP should let them recur and then down the line sign contracts
Members EricMontreal22
That was my gist too. The common soap fan criticism (that I agree with) is that cliches like this have overtaken too many shows. In the 70s you might have a character come back from the dead every 2 years on a show--if that (I don't mean the same character)--in the last dcade it seems to be a storyline every 6 months, if not more... Soaps exist in a sorta weird tvland where in some ways we expect them to be more realistic than other shows--we see them daily, grow with the characters, etc--but fans also know to accept things that would never happen in real life. At their best soaps have been able to get away with that dichotemy partly, IMHO anyway, because such stories were spaced out enough to have maximum impact. If *that* makes sense... Members John
Nelson got it from Thom racina who is co-HW OLTL. I think he would know.
Members Khan
Unless Nelson misheard Thom Racina -- and I'm not counting that out, lol.
Members EricMontreal22
OK people were wondering about Foz's credits, but really? "Controversial"? The telenovella thing which Nelson doesn't even directly quote Racina saying could be interpreted several ways IMHO. I don't think it means that they won't focus more on story arcs. He paraphrases him. Who knows what the wording of question and answer was. Maybe Racina thought he meant, like other telenovelas, that it will come to full stop after a certain amount of episodes (OK, probably not, but...)
